Dante kills the head of the Order of the Sword of which Nero is a member of. Nero tries to track and stop Dante and along the way discovers some interesting truths about the Order.
The plot is pretty poor though. You never really find out why Nero is even in the Order since he obviously doesn't care.
For Kyrie.
It can be confusing sometimes. I got lost in levels simply because I had no clue what I was meant to be doing and the little mission briefing option seems to have been removed from the pause screen.

Finished this last night. I loved this game. Seriously. Totally blew me away. Makes me want to go back and finish DMC3. Then play 4 again.
Also, Pandora is, in my opinion, one of the coolest weapons in video game history. If they made a game starring that fucking suitcase, I would buy three copies.

tracks him to the town castle?
and then through the castle to the underground lab?
what the hell was the evil plot anyway? shouldn't the main leader dude have expressed his mighty overarching plan in a cutscene?
Has anyone on the PA boards actually gotten to the Heaven or Hell difficulty mode yet? I'm curious to know how great of difference there is between HoH and SoS mode. I'm soon to beat DMC4 on Devil Hunter and as much as I am enjoying it, I find it to be WAY too easy for my tastes. When DMC3 first came out (not special edition), I beat it on the American Normal (IE - Japanese Hard) setting. Because of this, I yearn for obscene challenge out of the DMC game.
The sheer fact that I already have two or three S rankings in Devil Hunter is kinda sad. :P
Will Son of Sparda or Heaven/Hell modes give me the masochistic experience I crave?

PS - Is there some trick to taking out the Lightning Devils? Those jerks take forever to kill and it's a super pain trying to keep up a decent style rating while they're mucking about.

Apparently if you jump and fire with the shotgun, it fires faster, also I assume Pandora might be of some use. Then when the lightning dies, go to town with super busters, DTs and combos. I don't know if youre emant to be able to kill them though. I assumed their suicide wasn't victory since it gave me fuck all in terms of orbs.

Agnus pretty much summed it up when we first fight him. The order is using demons to empower themselves and take over the world. I haven't beaten the game yet, but I'm assuming they wanted to rebuild Yamato not for the sole sake of opening the Hellgate and letting the demons loose, but to also destroy said demons with their "Savior" and look like the big heroes who are saving the world.
Also, I've just noticed that only one skull on Dante's sword has horns and is screaming, while the other side is more human. A little touch I never noticed in the previous games.
Hell or Hell mode could be mildly amusing though. Just load up on Gold Souls and start going through the game. In theory, DMC4 becomes a curtain shooter. :P
I'm kinda annoyed, I keep missing out on S ranks in missions because I can't be bothered to get all the red orbs in all the smashables
I don't get how you do it on some missions. Compared to my first run through I'm stylishly taking out enemies, getting Atomics and in some cases SS ranks. In other cases such as the last boss battle, I moved from a D rank time to a B rank, doing it in 5 minutes. FIVE. WTF do you need to do it in to get an S because I defy anyone to achieve it with that cheap bastard.

I know; it does suck. However, if you do well on your time and style rankings and make sure to not use any items or die, then you should come out on top with an S ranking.
My orb rating is usually a B. I really wish they swapped out the orb rating for "damage received." It just seems to make more sense.
Has anyone here managed to get passed level 20 in the bloody palace? I can't do it because of time and my hp isn't full enough by the time I get there. Maybe I need to finish off my HP bar with blue orbs before I try it again.
Also, has anyone in the world actually finished the bloody palace all the way to level 100?

I'm used to getting orbs ever since the original DMC so I usually destroy everything I see more of a reaction than for skill points. But anyway I beat it. The game was way too easy. Dante's missions were too short I was hoping for more. If I feel like it I'll try SoS and hopefully it'll be significantly harder for me to keep playing.
I got to level 37 once, usually get face crit by the lightning dude before Berial end up losing round 20 though. Gotta say though past 20 is much more fun in my opinion, except when fighting those lightning guys while dealing with a room of flying swords or the like.

Also I heard there were 2 endings. Is this true?
Apparently if you make sure
Kyrie
doesn't get hit during the credits sequence, the ending is different. I wouldn't know though, because I was stupid enough to let a scarecrow shift through.
Btw, lamest final boss this side of FFX's Yu Yevon.
So if you play through a second time on SoS or any other difficulty does it let you pick between Dante or Nero for any level? If not why is there that little character select thing when you pick a mission from the mission menu?

Though I haven't gotten this far myself, I would suppose

that's how you choose Super Dante or Super Nero
No, you can't play as Dante in the early Nero levels and vice versa. That select screen is also for choosing automatic if you uhh... Suck too damn much.

There isn't a second ending, at least on devil hunter mode.
Keeping Kyrie from being hit does give you an extra cutscene that is so horrendously cheesy I literally groaned, facepalmed, and shook my head in disbelief at how god damn cheesy it was. It had absolutely zero relevence to the story though.

Thats what DMC is all about baby! Also Lady rules.
so i just beat the game.
ill keep this short on why i liked the game
Beating up an old man with a giant blue fist. Well technically, he was the pope of devil worshippers and i was screaming IM NOT INTERESTED IN YOUR BULLSHIT!
probably the coolest line from any video game since: "THIS PARTY's GETTIN CRAZY!"
i liked the sand wraiths a LOT more though as enemies. and also, i miss body surfing
but kudos to the VAs in this one.
i loved the cheesiness in this game. i think the game reviewers got off on the wrong foot as enjoying the scenes is almost how someone would enjoy watching wrestling. you just have to suspend the seriousness and enjoy the spoon-fed awesome.
"look it's got wings!"
reasons i disliked this game:
the damn camera. when i heard the reviewers complain i thought i could just bear with it. but the camera did a LOT to mess up the game for me. if im in a running animation, with the stick tilted upward then the camera switches to a view in front of me, i have to move the stick in the down position and i instantly lose my running speed. and running is a Very important skill in this game because that leads me to dislike #2
why have all these long ass hallways and not do anything in them? too much running for me in this one, messing up some of the game's pace. yes. very beautiful scenery (shadows could use some work, but who am i to complain?), but why do i have to run for 40 seconds from the white castle only to not encounter enemies and just end the level. wouldn't it have just been better just to end the level after the castle exploded? oh wait, you want me to see what the castle looks like as im running away from it after its busted? okay. i get it. i think O_o
great game. and a lil tip, using automatic is a GREAT way to get SSS rank combos

Could you tell me what happens in that cutscene. I don't feel like replaying the final act to see it.
Bought a 40 gig PS3 and this today, that install process was just annoying. 25 minutes of repeating music and slides, but the first mission was pretty good once everything got rolling. Kind of prefer the controls on the PS3 over the 360 now after playing both.
The super deluxe secret cut scene was AWESOME. Anyone who says otherwise has no taste.
I will impart unto you the ultimate final sex god method of beating the ending credits to view the super deluxe secret cut scene:
1. Charge Shot level 1 with your gun, knock a Scarecrow down.
2. Charge another shot.
3. Target another Scarecrow, knock him down.
4. Repeat, keep changing targets.
You don't have to actually kill them; they take a long time to get back up after getting knocked down anyway, and all you need to do is repeat this for like a minute. Don't even bother going to fight the Scarecrows. This way you just stand right in front shooting everything and can make sure no Scarecrows sneak by.

The easier method is buster grab, streak, repeat.
Muninn, the more your disaster bar is filled the more missiles you get during that huge surrounding gun attack.
And while the scene was good, I would have liked a teaser for the next game. The secret scene for DMC3 tells you nothing new if you've played DMC1 but it looks good and gives us a little teaser into what hapenned to Vergil between DMC3 and DMC1. This one didn't and was a little weird considering the lack of Trish and especially Lady during the events of the game. I mean Lady is capable, so why didn't she accompany them?

...oh god, doesn't that mean Hell or Hell mode will be you die in one hit, but the enemies don't?
Sometimes I Stream Games: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/italax-plays-video-games
Dante Must Die will be harder than Son of Sparda, and Hell or Hell is presumably impossible, but I don't know if anyone's done it yet.
EDIT: Beat'd twice.

On Heaven or Hell the enemies are as hard as in DMD mode but they all die in one hit so it's slightly easier since you can just shoot em.
Hell or Hell mode is basically just as described where you die in one hit but the enemies don't. :P
Son of Sparda isn't really that hard though.
I never asked for this!

Here's a video of Level 99:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8Ar_XGURZI&NR=1
Are you guys having any luck juggling Blitz? The most damage I feel like I can do (with Dante) is alternating DT'd Reb Combo A and charged Coyote.
The level 4 swordmaster combo by pressing up + O is pretty good.
It looks like a laser jumping puzzle...
I'd rather the orb rating... "damage received" plays too closely to the style rating, and makes it kinda redundant.
