I did too, but he's one of those characters that is just sort of there. I only used him because he was Dr. Mario, and he threw pills, not because I liked playing as him more than Mario. Same with Pichu.
The funniest part about this comic is that he's making a joke about something he clearly doesn't know a lot about.

Mewtwo is pretty much my favorite character to play as when I'm against someone I know I can beat. It's basically a handicap, but he's just so fun to play when you can act all cool and still win.

Well, I suck. I just thought he was badass and was alright with him, better than with faster characters.
All of my friends gasp in horror when I select Ness. In our impromptu 'introduce newbies to the game' games I'm not allowed to play him. Everyone gets mad when I start juggling them with yoyos or PK Thunder and then PK Flashing them for the kill.
Not to mention he wields yo-yos and baseball bats. Ness is AWESOME.
(so are Pichu and Doc, by the way. Ness is just better)
Pikachu's recovery move has always been harder for me to use than PK thunder.
I still don't know how to consistently get the second part of the move
But yeah, Lucas seems to have improved all the stuff I didn't like Ness for, mainly the yoyo. But Ness is still my favorite character in the past two games.

In the 512 hours me and my step brother played Melee, we used Ness 24 times.
I tried to main Doc for a while and Roy was my step brother's main. Hell, I liked Pichu more. At least he had a reliable recovery move.
People who can't PK Thunder really haven't lived.
I can do it about half of the time. Honestly Ness's playstyle just really didn't match up with the way I like to play. At the time the game came out I had never heard of Earthbound so I just thought of him as some retard with a hat and striped shirt.
If it had a sword or came from a series that began with Zeld- or ended with -etroid, I played the shit out of it. The rest of the characters, not so much. I mained Samus, but I hear she's getting toned down a bit so I'll see how that goes... as I main Snake.

Mewtwo is one of those characters where you need to wavedash to use properly. It's what gives you a fighting chance against some characters. I mean but shit, it's practically impossible to beat a half-assed marth w/o it (and I can't wavedash :< if I could, I'd be maining mewtwo)

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Yeah you sort of have to waggle the stick or something. I can only do it when I'm not thinking about it, and even then only sometimes.
I can get it pretty much every time, nearly always in the directions I want. I'm not sure what I do to make that happen. I imagine I just point the stick in another direction immediately after the first quick attack and he zaps off again in that direction. It's a timing thing. Pichu's is the same but slower, so maybe it would be good practice?
Beyond this, I'm not particularly great at the game.

All I want is Ridley. I don't understand how he could rank so high in polls and not get in... especially with the bare representation Metroid has.
I picked Melee back up yesterday and started off playing around with my main, Falco. I didn't do so hot. I then started messing with other characters. I used to main Roy because I couldn't play as Marth at all for some reason. Well I got the crap kicked out of me as Roy so I switched over to Marth and suddenly, I was killing with him. It was weird.

Yes. Seriously.
Ness was my main.
You see, I sucked at Melee.

I mained Ness. I'd be willing to switch to Lucas after testing them both out for a while.
If captain falcon is not in this one
...I'll...
...I'll...
...Shit will go down
He's just not in the roster there because he's an unlockable character. Is this hard to understand?

It kinda works like aiming the Fire Fox, I think.
PK Thunder, on the other hand, is just a tight little loop of the stick. Easy to recover with.
