Oh, Porygon is easy if we go by Mushroom Pie's theory. I mean, if a Pokemon being stored in a computer is a virtual representation of the physical creature, then it doesn't take a huge leap of logic to assume that someone could reverse-engineer the data to create an artificial Pokemon in the digital space, which would then take physical form when you pop it out of the Pokeball.
And I don't play Pokemon with others because then I'd either get my ass kicked by someone who's spent more time grinding his Pokemon, or I'd spend so much time grinding my Pokemon that it would cease to be fun.
Playing pokemon alone is hardly playing pokemon at all.
Anyway the digital theory gets a bit weirder when you consider the multiple cases of people being turned into pokemon.
Of course, taking a step back, it all makes sense in the end since the people and pokemon really do just consist of data. One day we'll discover that all the npcs were encoded with IVs all along.
So guys I heard Ike's final smash is way more useful than we orignally thought - smash brothers huh?
It's hard to believe there's only three more updates before the release. I'll kind of miss the old meta-game of guessing the next update, though I'll probably be too busy trying to find a Wii to play Brawl on to care much about it.
A pokemon battle is really a trainer demonstrating their skill to a pokemon. A pokemon won't be caught in a pokeball of an unworthy trainer. A pokemon needs a trainer to reach its full potential. Likewise a trainer learns more about themself over the course of their pokemon journey.
What about the Master Ball then
That's like the ultimate mind rape
Masterballs are extremely rare and only obtained by proving that you're a bad-ass or by luck. Both of these are extremely appealing to pokemon.
If you guys really want a pokemon universe thing to puzzle over, ponder the existence of Porygon.

Well, since Pokemon can get turned into data, it's not too far of a stretch for data to get turned into a Pokemon.
This is an all-time low.
I need to get a theme song for all of the characters I plan on using, to set videos of my conquests to. So far I've got
Olimar: They Might Be Giants- "The Cap'm"
Snake: Alice Cooper- "Snakebite"
Captain Falcon: The theme from Speed Racer. Alternatively, "Speed Racer" by DEVO.
The problem here is that if you used one song from They Might Be Giants, all the other songs need to be They Might Be Giants.
Snake - Spy
Lucas - Why must I be sad
Captain Falcon - AKA Driver
Wario - Take out the trash
Kirby - Particle Man
Fox - Destination Moon
Samus - Ana ng
Sonic - Stomp Box
Mario - I'm impressed

Wait, WHAT?
Bill, the creator of the PC system from the first game/Mystery Dungeon protagonists.
Back when pokemon first started going on, I was in first grade, I think. Anyways, I made my family listen to the pokemon CD for a seven hour car ride down to Disneyland. We listened to the Poke Rap maybe 30 times.
I would have beat your ass senseless. Nothing personal.
If I met myself as a first grader, I would beat my ass senseless too.
I'm pretty sure I'd do the same. Kid me needed to get beat, and that didn't happened until middle school. I think I needed one more beating in High School too, but that one never came. This is where I need a time machine: go to the past, beat the shit out of myself, go to the future, play Brawl, go to the past again, place bets on high profile sporting events, go to the future, play more Brawl, etc.
Didn't Back to the Future Pt. 2 teach you anything?
Yeah, it works, and it works well. Doc told Marty it was a bad idea, but looking at how well off Biff was, I'm not so sure.
EDIT: Also, back on topic, I like Ike. That is all.

Alright, so there is a japanese exchange student at my school that I am friends with. How can I manipulate him to get me a copy of Brawl? And does a japanese game work in the US? I think theres region coding or something...

You can just order a copy online, you don't even have to be japanese! But yes, the Wii is region-locked. You will need a japanese wii or some....other...way of getting around the region lock.
I had a dream where there was a new, console rpg pokemon where you played as a human with pokemon characteristics and abilities.
I don't even like Pokemon that much.
I've stopped dreaming of outside things.
Curse you Sakurai.
Man, I've always had a dream of a Pokemon Console MMORPG. I mean, it really wouldn't be hard. All you have to do is pretty much just make 3d models for everything, and you're set.
You've already got a balanced and complex leveling system. 4 territories to chose to level in. A crap ton of pokes to level for variations.
A damn near balanced PvP system (which most MMOs can't claim).
I mean shit... its like almost, why the fuck hasn't this been done?

Shit you're right.
Thunderbird fits Captain Falcon better though, I think. Unless Falco's coming back that is. Your Own Worst Enemy might be better for Kirby, also.
Furthermore,
Bowser- Poison Flowers
Zelda/Sheik- S-E-X-X-Y
Pit- She's an Angel
Donkey Kong- I'm Impressed
Yoshi- New Haven/Albany
Jigglypuff- Am I Awake
Fox/Samus- Destination Moon
...
Dammit guys I'm all hyped for Brawl again is it March yet
Man, if you saw that, you are some kind of ninja. I edited my post two seconds after I posted it.
Whats in that box thats suspiciously like the save boxes from Mario RPG? Is that a Mushroom?
On second thought... it's more like the boxes with random items in normal Mario.

Because Nintendo's policies concerning online play are about 20 or so years behind everyone else.
Hell, it'd still be passable with predetermined text.
Don't tell me it wouldn't sell millions.
Pokemon is generally seen as a children's franchise. It's got a ton of depth, but it's marketed as a kid's game. For that reason, an MMO will probably never happen.
By the way, I'm so very sorry for derailing this thread. I've just never noticed the kind of deep philosophical questions and dilemmas the Pokemon series presents until just now.
So, on-topic... when the game is released, where do you think the best bet will be for a quick and accurate character list? I'd really like assurances that my fave characters will be returning (and I'm also curious about new characters we haven't seen yet).
People are insane. When Halo 3 came out there were people who played that game for (close to) the equivalent of 20 hours a day every day for 2 weeks. I imagine you'll get some of that for Brawl as well.
In other words, expect a full roster to hit the 'net very quickly.
Edit: Unless, of course, some characters have particularly obscure unlock requirements (or have time-based, game-mode requirements, e.g. "play 25 hours of random game mode X").

GameFAQs (the FAQs, not the message boards) will probably have one within a few days. I wouldn't expect it much sooner. The people with prerelease copies probably have better things to do than grind the game and compile lists of its contents. With a game this big, I expect the surprises to keep coming for a while.
Probably Smashboards, as several people there are getting import copies and are insane and dedicated.
Yeah, once people from Smash Boards get a hold of the game, maybe we'll get better videos than just THE FREAKING CHARACTER SELECT SCREEN AND CHOOSING A DIFFICULTY, JESUS CHRIST!

I've been missing from this thread for a while, link? Is Paratroopa an assist?
Whoa. Why don't I remember this?
... I feel old.
EDIT: The song is stuck in my brain and is eating it alive. Need cure badly.

I think Bill or some other scientists get turned into Pokemon in the games.

In the anime it was a Kabuto costume he was stuck in until Ash found him and managed to release him.
If I recall correctly he couldn't reach the zipper because of the stubby arms.

I assume this would only work if your local Gamestop manager let you. You'd need to sync the controllers and all that.
