As I was watching this video, I noticed that there was a secret passage and it made me think, this isn't just SSB side-scroller, this was practically an entire Platformer unto itself.
I have a feeling it's going to be really goddamn short.
...despite the fact the Famitsu reviews said it was a decent length.
Anyway, I'm noticing an interesting trend in SSE fights. Kirby vs. Petey Piranha. The Kongs vs. Koopas. Diddy and Fox vs. Rayquaza.
It sounds like it'll be the ultimate mash-up, with nobody fighting their traditional enemies.
This could get very cool. Samus and Pikachu vs. a Metal Gear? Sonic and Pokemon Trainer vs. Bowser? Mario vs. Eggman? Yes please.
I've been saying for years that Nintendo should make their traditional games in the styles of their other ones and mix stuff up.
Starfox style game, but instead of Andross being the final boss on Venom, Fox has to battle Ganondorf on Dark World Hyrule/Twilight Realm.
Or Mario Galaxy style game, but Mario travels to Bryyo, SR388, and Zebes, and hop on Metroids.
Bowser has stolen the Princess Zelda and only Link can save her in a Zelda style game, but the dungeons are the Koopa Kids castles

There needs to be a stage that's a mash-up of Mario and Sonic levels, and Sonic has to play the Mario parts and vice-versa. The boss would be Robotnik in his little pod thing and Bowser in the Koopa Klown Kar.

Hours is probably a pretty bad way of measuring the amount of content in a game like this.
Most platformers can be beat in less than a few hours. The number of stages and bosses, and how much variety there is, is more important.
I'm sure it's a decent length considering we are getting an entire fighting game along with it. But compared to traditional platformers, I'm betting it's short.
As long as it is longer than Melee's Adventure mode, I am satisfied. I played through that a bunch (most of the time for trophies, but still fun).

Well, of course longer than Melee's 15-minute Adventure mode.
I don't think you're expected to beat SSE in one sitting.

what? you didn't dick around with the paratroopas and koopa troopas? COME ON. Using mario's cape to keep 4-5 koopa shells hitting a wall was very amusing as well as taking out rows of goombas with shells and watching toad run around like a maniac. Not to mention the zelda dungeon, doing an air attack from the very top all the way to the bottom.

They'll headbutt the crap out of your ass.

yeah they are more active, but they were still brutal. If you ran into them, they did +20% and sent you flying, so annoying when you'd mess up.
I find it amusing that the Final Smash for Pokemon Trainer is that he just fucking cheats and uses all of his Pokemon.
Fuck the rules of Pokemon battling, he's going for the kill.
"That guy just used a sword! Where's the ref! Oh come on, a BOMB!? Hey! He just used a 7th Pokeball! This isn't fair! OH FUCK THIS, IVYSAUR, CHARIZARD, GET IN THERE AND FUCK THAT ELF UP!"
In SSE you can both play the same character, which is nice for situations that call for 1 character like Kirby vs. Petey. You have two kirbys.
I've yet to see Ike's final smash not instantly kill someone but Mario ate PT's point blank and would have survived if he knew what he was doing.
EDIT: His method of selecting which pokemon you start with makes me afraid there really is no way to start as ZSS. If you look at Zelda's character select, Sheik is on it too so you could choose who you start with by just clicking on one like PT. ZSS isn't on Samus' character select icon. . .hopefully she gets unlocked and stuck onto there.
Seeing as ZSS doesn't have a final smash (she just gets her suit back...lame) I highly doubt you're going to be able to pick her as though she was a separate character.
Personally I think ZSS's final smash should have been Crystal Flash, she could have gotten her suit back + all her health and set off a super bomb that would do more damage to closer enemies, and have a huge blast radius.
I have a feeling this whole situation is just more "Japan doesn't care about Metroid."
It seemed pretty obvious to me that her FS was based on Crystal Flash. Also the move you describe is overpowered even for an FS.
ZSS's final smash is retardedly underpowered for a final smash. What's your point?
You don't know that at all. I think I've only seen it in video once, and that was when ZSS used it on complete opposite side of the field from the other guy and it didn't do anything. Hardly anybody has any experience playing ZSS because none of the demo games were long enough.

Yeah, and with trophies, different difficulty levels, the ability to instantly jump into a section you've already cleared (according to rumors), there should be a fair amount of replayability.
I'd be thrilled if we got something that lasted five hours. Yeah, that's short compared to the industry average, but it's attached to something that could be considered a second complete game by itself.

Going back to a previously completed stage and cranking the difficulty up for a second run is a good way to round out your sticker collection.
Edit: Damn, Tairu!
Anyway, do you think certain stickers will only show up on certain stages/difficulties?
Like, they'll have entire guides on what stickers will appear on Kong Jungle Hard Mode?

if ANYONE bitches about the adventure mode length, they should be discredited and never listened to again. That is just a HUGE FUCKING BONUS to be included imo and to be so complete compared to Melee's. Smash bros. is a game with so much replay value on it's own, but to include a "real" single player should be considered as a bonus, no matter the length.
I'll play and enjoy SSE, but personally I wish they hadn't included it. I don't think it's worth the significant amount of development time it must have added to Brawl. Smash is all about the multiplayer, and I'd rather it came out earlier or with more characters than a better singleplayer mode.
Also, Zero, quit complaining =/ Especially without any empiricism whatsoever. It's not even creditable debate, it's just you being pessimistic without any cause (and occasionally, against the evidence).

MY guess is probably no more than 10 or so hours depending on difficulty.
Which is fine by me, I dont think a silent hill game lasted more than 15 and those were about perfect legth.

I don't think I'm looking forward to any particular part. It's sort of an entire experience. Normally I am more interested in single player modes, but this game is just everything. Hell I'm looking forward to trophy collecting and I always hate that kind of shit.

Seriously dude.
I mean, what could they add to multiplayer? The balance is already damn near perfect and SSE didn't stop them from like.. what, more than doubling the character roster? Tripling the stage count? Adding tonnes of new and interesting items and game mechanics?
I mean, Jesus dude, what do you expect to gain by saying this? You think people are gonna amble in and agree with you when there's absolutely zero evidence that the inclusion of SSE negatively impacted the development of the multiplayer at all.

3-5 hours would be perfect, in my opinion.
