You know, with all the trade show information about how Ike was a heavy slow character, I'm pretty supprised by these videos. It seems that he's actually faster than roy was, in fact not that much slower that marth (at a non-pro level at least)

When people said he was slow they meant the speed of his attacks, not how he moves around. Note that when he smashes he, uh, artfully swings the sword up and then a second later comes crashing down with it.
That said, you are right in saying that he doesn't look "unbearably slow", as some were saying. He moves quite gracefully.

Funny story about Gamestop from an hour or so ago.
I was driving by the Gamestop that I preordered my copy of brawl from, and figured I would run in really quick and ask when they would actually be getting/selling the game so I knew when I could pick it up. Since the game is released on a Sunday they said they should be getting it Friday and opening the store sunday at 12:01am to sell the game. Who knows if thats true or not but I'll be there regardless to find out.
The funny thing is after that, the 2 guys that worked there started spewing out all sorts of random idiocy. Some gems overheard while standing there listening to them talk about the game:
There are FIFTY-SIX confirmed characters in Brawl!
Ridley has been 100% confirmed as playable!
I hear you can play as Dark Fox now!
They brought back Jiggly Puff but for some reason all his moves are changed!
There were more but those were the best. I had to walk out before I burst into laughter.

As I was watching this video, I noticed that there was a secret passage and it made me think, this isn't just SSB side-scroller, this was practically an entire Platformer unto itself.
I have a feeling it's going to be really goddamn short.
...despite the fact the Famitsu reviews said it was a decent length.
Anyway, I'm noticing an interesting trend in SSE fights. Kirby vs. Petey Piranha. The Kongs vs. Koopas. Diddy and Fox vs. Rayquaza.
It sounds like it'll be the ultimate mash-up, with nobody fighting their traditional enemies.
This could get very cool. Samus and Pikachu vs. a Metal Gear? Sonic and Pokemon Trainer vs. Bowser? Mario vs. Eggman? Yes please.
My theory for the supposed way to unlock Lucario and Luigi extends to the whole game.
From a programmer PoV: It's cool to watch them fight these guys.
From a plot PoV: The Sub-Space Army is trying to keep them from facing someone they've fought in the past and thus knowing "Oh okay I've fought this guy before". So Lucas might end up fighting Ridley, for example. Since Samus knows how to take Ridley down, all she'd have to do is tell Pikachu to cling to his back and shock him whenever he tries to take off into the air.
And unless they are known for being together(DK and Diddy) they are probably not going to be paired with obvious matches for long, if at all.
I can imagine people bringing their own Wiimotes into Gamestop to have 4-player matches.
I assume this would only work if your local Gamestop manager let you. You'd need to sync the controllers and all that.
I'd bring my Gamecube controllers
Home Menu> Wii Remote Settings> Reconnect > Press 1 & 2 on extra remotes?
So yeah, I totally see Gamestops around the country having to kick out players on the demo station in large number.
Or them just not having the demo station on at all as usual.
Or they'll resume their old school days of "Give us your license if you wanna play" (which is what they did with the Wii, rather than keep it tuned off...or at least MY local Gamestop will. They told me the only reason they didn't turn it off was a combination of the license thing and "Because when it dies down and I'm on break, I can't play a turned off system".
And don't forget your Arcade etiquette. If someone else is playing, be sure to ask if they don't mind you hopping in. ;-)
I'd say Ivysaur is pretty good. Squirtle is the one that's gonna have the hardest time not getting beaten around the face.
Man, what? In the video Link had to use the dragoon to KO Squirtle. Even spicy food and his second forward slash couldn't faint it. In other words, I shall beat your face with Squirtle.

The license thing was also so you didn't run off with the wii remote + nunchuck. Though now they're tethered to the demo unit so there's no excuse for it being off. Why it took them this long to figure this out I'll never know.
I find it amusing that the Final Smash for Pokemon Trainer is that he just fucking cheats and uses all of his Pokemon.
Fuck the rules of Pokemon battling, he's going for the kill.
"That guy just used a sword! Where's the ref! Oh come on, a BOMB!? Hey! He just used a 7th Pokeball! This isn't fair! OH FUCK THIS, IVYSAUR, CHARIZARD, GET IN THERE AND FUCK THAT ELF UP!"
Newb Pokemon Trainer: three Mewtwos lol
3 Shaymin. Because they are the latest in the series.
Funny story, I once fought a kid in a tourney when Pokemon Stadium 2 came out who used 3 Celebi with badly picked Gameshark'd moves. I actually had to avoid laughing when his team of Shiny Celebi with moves like Psychic, Future Sight, Psybeam and Confusion were completely unable to stop Houndoom from ripping them in two.
But, I was a good sport. I offered my hand, and said "Good game" in a mature tone, like a mature and well-raised young man should.
...He stormed off and later stole my pokemon cards. :x

They didn't double the roster at all from the sounds of it, even if you don't count clones... I'm mostly satisfied with 35 characters but given the choice between a full-blown adventure mode and 40-45 characters, I'll take the latter no contest. Why would I prefer a singleplayer mode that I'll be done with in a few weeks over a bunch of characters I'll be playing for years? I don't see what's so controversial about saying that I would rather fight with Mega Man, Geno, Ridley, etc than play a good platformer. Multiplayer content is an innately more worthwhile use of time, IMHO, because it has far greater replay value.
You're making the unsupported assumption that characters are excluded.
And that, if they are excluded, it was because of the 'focus' on SSE.
And not, for example, because the developers decided not to include them.
I don't mind opinions but it sure is great when they're supported by evidence.
I don't believe that Brawl contains every single character that Sakurai would ever consider putting into a Smash game. All game development is restricted by time, and Brawl was already behind schedule. There's no way for us to know how their original plans were affected by the deadlines, and what Sakurai would or wouldn't do if he decided to focus more on multiplayer, but it's safe to assume that either the game would have come out much earlier or we'd have more multiplayer content, i.e. characters, to show for it. No feature is ever added without a tradeoff.
Didn't Sakurai say in Iwata Asks... that they had two completely different teams working on each aspect, and the only thing they shared(including production teams)
was just animations, characters, etc?

3 Arceus man. Base 120 stats all around.
Yes but he could potentially get three good pokemon of three separate types.

Yes. He even said that the characters were balanced differently for the two modes.
I was googling and found one or two quizes like it but they sucked and were obviously made by a retarded teenager, so I decided to make my own. It'd be cool if any of you could test it out and post what you came back with so I can see how it works (and its fun anyway, IMO).

I wonder how that(balancing them differently) is going to work.
Maybe it means that while, let's say, Jigglypuff is a terrible SSE character, he's an amazing fighter?
So I was gone all weekend, and there are an insurmountable number of new posts in here since I left. What's the word on the final roster? Has it been fully leaked yet? Feel free to send me some links in spoilers or whatever. I just want to know as much as possible.

Can you blame them? Cute Vs. Cool Vs. Ugly-beast-with-a-tulip-bud. :P
Isn't Ivysaur's Up Smash the one that can kill at like, 55% uncharged?
Edit: Kill Mario, that is, according to the info on Brawl Central.

Waiting for it to process, then I shall post.
