... but are you sure you looked at a whole list of clubs? Usually there's clubs on even a small campus for many more things that just sports.
One thing that might help us: you didn't give us a list of things that YOU like to do. All there was in the OP was a list of things that you didn't like to do. Give us a list of things you want to do, and we may be able to be of more service hopefully.
I realize you are only in your first year, but usually more specialized classes are good places to meet people. Depending on your interests of course, but art and social or political classes seem to be good for this. You get to learn a lot more about people than in accounting or what not.
That being said, you can definitely meet people through study sessions and stuff like that. I met quite a few people in foreign language classes.
Joining a club that has some sort of cause can also work. You know going in what everyones political bent is, and you have an activity to focus on while you all get to know each other.
