I finished my homework and tried to play... I got two invites from you guys but neither of them worked. When Kris invited me it said the server was full, and when Brutle tried I just got a random error.
Now I have to watch Sara Connor Chronicles, so maybe later this week. Sorry guys. Just hit level 15 though.
I got a random error when Burtletoy invited me as well, it seems to happen every time I try to play with PA people.
They're trying to prevent the awesome train from building up steam.
Apparently I missed this week's SC Chronicles, thought they started at 9, not 8. Fuck. I think I've played enough CoD for the night, though, last round I played every time I got killed it was by the same guy, and it was a headshot 80% of the time. Pissed me off.
I stopped using the Grip when I did some testing and got about the same results with or without it, while using the iron sights. Only time I hip fire is at very close range where it's like a shotgun and benefits from a bit of spread, anyway.

Hmmm... I believe the RPD is far more accurate with the grip, but I've never done any actual testing. If this is true....
The RPD has a low enough rate of fire that the grip is optional. Going for something like the Red Dot doesn't hurt, but the gun's pretty much fine on it's own.
The grip helps a lot with weapons like the M249 and the lumbering M60.
Hell a grip on the SAW and Double Tap makes for a wall of bullets.

I've never noticed much of an accuracy increase with the grips. The LMGs are all pretty accurate as they are. What the grip does help with, though, is recoil. They might be accurate without the grip, but it's significantly more difficult tokeep firing on one target when the thing is bouncing all over the place and it's especially difficult firing on groups at a distance.
The red dots are nice, but as jumpy as they are, the M60 and SAW pretty much demand the grip. The RPD not as much, but I still do far better with it with a grip.
Fun games tonight my friends, even if I had to go raid random appliances for batteries and my mic decided to serenade you all with noises somewhere between fax machines dialing and smurf genocide.
Well, Shock & Awe was pretty damn easy on Veteran. Had some trouble with the ambush until I figured out how to snipe from behind the fence. I would bring my sights up, jump, get a fix on the enemy's position, jump again and drill them with the G3. And that area behind the fence is so narrow that any grenades they toss are close enough to throw back. I hurled back three in a row.
After that, I decided to skip straight to No Fighting In the War Room. Don't want that hanging over my head like impending doom as I do the rest of the missions. Mile High Club somehow doesn't intimidate me the same way, because it's one long shootout and the enemies don't have anywhere to hide.
So far, I'm making really good time. Ran my ass off through the first two checkpoints using the grenade launcher to clear a path. Got to the stairs with about 8:15 left on the clock. Then tore through the part with the crates in a minute, and now I'm at the part with the silos. The location and timing of every bad guy short of the second silo room is now encoded in my DNA, but there's one fucker who keeps tagging me.
My goal here is to not miss a checkpoint. I can handle IW's bullshit in measured doses.
Good games again last night. I wish I could have played more, but I have my Husbandly and Fatherly duties to attend to.
CHRIST ON A CRUTCH I am balls at this game. One round I will do alright against randoms, the next round I can't contribute sweet fuck all.
That seemed to be the case last night with the PAers. At one point I was like, Daymn, 10 kills already, I am on FIRE!! Then I looked at the scoreboard and almost everyone had 20+ kills.
Funniest moment: In the pre-game lobby, once the teams were made, some random goes "Whoa, what does [PA] stand for?", then about 6 people, at the same time, all yell "Pennsylvania!"

We only play the shitty game modes (hardcore) every once in a while, though.
I went ahead and fixed that for ya.
I'm so happy I'm not alone in my hatred of Hardcore. I will always remember it however as Panny and I's first date. She knifed me several times I recall. Ah, young love....

I am so sad that I missed that game, as it is easily the subject of a quarter of the posts in this thread.
ACOG + P90 is hilarious. I've only used it in a match of oldschool, though, but it was hilariously awesome. I've got it and a sniper rifle going on my HC build now. Now idea how it'll work out, but I know ACOG on the P90 in oldschool at least is a killing machine.
I just unlocked the Barrett and I'm goddamned useless with it. I was hoping to get enough kills with it to get the ACOG and turn it into a medium-range gun but I'll be damned if I have the patience to sit back and snipe with it like they want me to. Almost all my kills with it so far have been running at people like a retard and emptying a clip into them when I'm close enough to knife.
While I love the feel of harcore, I'm so much worse at it than I am at normal. I usually top the scoreboard, rarely anything but first in normal. In hardcore my more aggressive mindset doesnt work as well, so I usually over compensate by becoming a giant pussy.
Hardcore sabotage is probably the most fun I've had in a long time though.
The "hit them while they are falling into last stand and do nothing" thing is getting irritating enough that I quit whenever it happens.
It's bad enough when I'm using the M4 or something else with a big-ish magazine, but it happens a lot with the semi-auto shotgun as well, which is really frustrating because you only have 4 rounds. I've been using that weapon as much as I can, and since you need to be within about 5 feet of them for it to be effective, you are easy pickings for them once they get into last stand.
Think of the other side of the coin though, Doc. If you weren't briefly invincible when transitioning into Last Stand, it would be completely useless against everything but sniper rifles and shotguns.
By the way, thanks for the tips on the Ambush getting-out-of-the-map and Pipeline hiding-inside-pipes exploits. They're known and getting fixed. If you see any others, let me know.

In one match on Overgrown, an enemy sniper had set up behind the rock by the barn. I was near the car back at the British spawn point, before you cross the wooden bridge. I saw maybe an inch or two of his head, and fucking sniped his ass from that far away. Motherfucker came back, I did the exact same thing to him, before he could hit me with a fucking scoped sniper rifle.
That's how good the RPD + Grip + Stopping Power + Deep Impact is.
It's a high rate of fire counter sniping motherfucker. Little bursts of two or three rounds at a time (just tapping the trigger) will give you pin-point accuracy.

Yeah thats why I love my RPD. It doesnt matter where they are or what they're using, I can kill them with my RPD.
Too bad the golden gun for LMGs is M60. The ironsites are just fucking awful on it.
Two guys, one from the right, one from the left, both running across towards each other. I put a few bullets into the guy on the right, then go to the guy on the left and hit him once or twice. When they intersect I pray and spray and nail them both.

Yeah, would it have hurt to have made iron sights that didn't completely obscure what you're shooting at. If you do anything more than a short burst, you lose all ability to even make out any surrounding scenery. Not to mention it starts slipping and sliding all over the place. It's like fucking Don Knotts is using it.
Think of the other side of the coin though, Doc. If you weren't briefly invincible when transitioning into Last Stand, it would be completely useless against everything but sniper rifles and shotguns.
Yeah, I do think that the chance of getting killed if they hit you while you are falling into last stand is a suitable penalty for sucking and getting yourself shot. It should also be noted that I play hardcore mode exclusively, so it's much more common to be killed by someone in last stand, as they can somewhat easily one-shot you. Besides that, one tends to not spray extra rounds around like a fire hose, since it only takes a light touch.
Since it's on hardcore, it's just frustrating to kill someone, and as they are falling put enough rounds in them to kill them twice over again (M4+double tap for the win), then immediately have about a 50/50 chance of getting killed if they were aiming at you when you got them, since they only turn vulnerable when they can shoot back.
On the subject of Last Stand, I have this to say. If your solution to problems with a perk involves making someone invincible, even momentarily, then it's time to re-examine your approach. This is a shooter, it doesn't need absolute realism, but it needs to look and feel as if it takes place within our physical universe.
Yeah, would it have hurt to have made iron sights that didn't completely obscure what you're shooting at.
And even some guns with good iron sights obscure a great deal of the action. Red dot lowers the weapon a bit, and improves visibility, so I can leave the sights up while scanning for targets, without leaving a blind spot.

Oh my god, why didn't I think of that?! A red dot!! :P
With a red dot, you only have ONE shot go exactly where you intend it to. There's so much recoil, it will lurch left, right, up, down, etc on every follow up shot. You almost have to use the grip if you intend to be proficient with it. Which, brings up the problem of the iron sights. They're the worst in the game, along with the M14s. It does a lot of damage, but it's just a shitty weapon. RPD FTW.
I think the briefly invincible is to counter act the other bullets that are still flying at you even though you are technically dead so it wouldn't render the perk useless as you fall down to last stand posistion. WHen you shoot someone you still fire a bit until you know the guy is down even with out the perk sometimes. It makes sense from a gameplay perspective but none at all from a bitchy I wanna win view.

I know why they did it. I'm saying that it's retarded that there is some special case that kicks in where the person can't be hurt.
Well I never use it anyways but I have noticed the invincible effect. My thing is I just run away after I see the guy in last stand mode and giggle...unless my teammate walks buy and gets shot by that same dude.

Gonna check it out with the M16 too.
Tried it with the G36 and it was a bit too jumpy.
I like Ambush a whole lot more now that Kris showed me that bunker.
I'd rather have a Red Dot on the M16 after going Prestige again.
Just so much more accurate and doesn't take as much to down or kill someone where as I empty about six rounds on someone to take them out with the M4.
