(Taken from Arteus, The Doctor, and LookFreeGrenade). There has been a few updates.
This game is freaking fantastic. It is taking a bit of a break from tradition and is being set, not in World War II, but in the present day. Crazy Russian nationalist wants to bring the Soviet Union back. He does this by funding a coup type activity in the Middle East.

PA has a "Clan". On the 360, at least. We have a few guidlines... because Kris is a prick.
PARTY DROPS
From now on, when I am host (which I do often) I will be using a "3 retry policy." As many of you have noticed, whether due to IW or MS, theres some shitty code in there somewhere which often results in Party members being dropped when finding games. I had thought this resolved, but based on my experience this weekend, it hasn't been, and its more annoying than ever.
Whenever I'm the host, I will attempt to get my entire party into the game. Really, I will. I like you guys. I sure as hell like you guys more than the random idiots I find in live. However, it is taking far too much time finding a game when we have to continuely back out because of one person. So from now on, when I'm hosting, I'll possibly back out twice, for a total of 3 found games, in an effort to get the full party into the game. If only one person is missing at the end of that third try, I'm sorry, but I'm letting the game go ahead. After the game is complete, if the party wishes we can back out and reinvite you.
Again, this is only my policy, I'm not sure if the other "main hosts" will act differently but I would imagine they will operate under similar conditions. My apologies, I'm not trying to be a jerk, its just your connection blows.
GETTING INVITED TO THE PARTY
If you just logged on (or whatever) and would like to get invited to what you believe is the party, just send one of the regulars a "request to play" via live, instead of a message. I rarely listen/read messages when in game, so a request to play is nice and clear. Once the match is complete, we will back out and invite you. If there is no party, the person will join you and you can go on from there.
Please note that I (and most others I believe) DO NOT BACK OUT MIDGAME TO INVITE YOU. Once the match is finished, then we will get you into the party.
If the party is full, and you asked me to be invited, I will respond back telling you the party is full, and let you know who isn't in the party so you can start your own.
Finally, sending me nasty messages demanding to be let into my party, telling me to boot people so you can come in, and general douchebaggery is not the best way to get me into invite you. You're right, I'm not the clan leader, but I sure as hell host enough to ensure you never get into one of my games again if you keep this shit up. You know who you are, cut this shit out.
MULTIPLE TEAMS
We're getting busy. Everyday it seems more and more people are using the PA CoD4 list and sending out invites, which is awesome. However, because of this we're also capping out at 9 people per team, extremely quickly. As such we really will have to start doing multiple teams. As I said above, if I am full I will let you know and tell you who ISNT in my group so you can party with them.
Also, I don't "save" spots under normal circumstances.
We also follow general G&T rules. Keep it civil. While the PA Clan doesn't have any specific "leaders", the members more active in CoD and the PA Clan look down upon douchebaggery, and behaving so could lead to a lack of invites and less participation. Remember, we play in groups of friends to avoid these issues. Bringing them into our group of players isn't welcome. Please keep this in mind if you invite a non PA'er into a PA Clan game.
If you would like to play with the PA group on the Xbox 360, send a
Friend Request to PA CoD4.

No harm done, you actually made a pretty nice OP.

on veteran
woo
I suggested it like 3 threads ago, I must've missed it.
Think we used it when we were all pimping the BETA.
This level sucks, still haven't beaten it yet. Don't have the will to go back to it.
I believe I used it in a title before the game came out, hi5!
And Klyka, you know they're infracting people for saying that? Just say "Cod4 is awesome, and yay darleysam finally got it!"
Also, Jonny (my brother, who you've played with more than with me) has his own gamertag now, BrianTheMouse. You should add him, yo.
When is the charity Wankathon?
i was running some damage last night with the AK... my favorite tactic is,
1) see enemy
2) run towards enemy while positioning targeting reticle into enemy nut sack
3) pull trigger until you see +10
4) continue running so their post-death grenade doesn't kill you.
so much fun.
My only complaint are the kids who scream at you if you put a round into the head of someone they put into last stand.
I'm sorry but if You're not shooting the guy in the face who is shooting at me, I'm shooting him. I don't care who gets the points.
I am your goddamn father
Well, I did say it was what I liked to do. It's down to personal preference, I suppose, but I enjoy using the pistols, even on regular. If you can get the drop on someone, one magazine from the USP .45 can kill two or three guys depending on how accurate you are. And in hardcore? Well, pistols are great in hardcore. I wouldn't recommend assaulting an enemy position with a pistol in the regular modes, but you're a sniper and shouldn't be doing that anyway. In the end, I just prefer having more ammo to having my back covered when usually I can tell an enemy is coming. If it's not the sound of him running, he's usually doing something stupid like hopping over something and the sound of someone hitting the ground is always audible.
And if I had some way to record from my 360, I would totally do an LP of CoD4 on veteran with no editing. It would be so bad.
hell even if i used claymores i probably wouldn't notice them going off if they didn't score me points...
Heat on veteran is an exercise in frustration. I managed it by doing a sort of S-curve. To the right at first, putting down 2-3 airstrikes down the lane through the houses, and then running through into the big house that you detonate charges from. From there I put down the rest of my airstrikes staggered around the entire expanse that you have to run through, one near the helicopter especially. Then I curved around to the left and run to the river hoping my airstrikes killed everyone. I also used the M60 so that I didn't have to reload during that first godawful run.
This was after something like 60 or so tries. Once you get past that fucking field bit it's a little less infuriating.
Edit: Using sound is extremely important. Best way to learn is to play FFA for a while. You know that every footstep is an enemy. Additionally, crouching up stairs is a must. If you think someone's in a house and you charge in, odds are they'll be waiting at the door. That's why Dead Silence/UAV Invisibility classes can be so fun, especially on FFA. You get to just run around knifing people unawares.
It only took me about a half hour total to get through Heat but I got so frustrated it felt like forever, but I found a pretty okay strategy.
I started outside in front of the barn behind the cover in the center of that little area after having taken out the tanks. So then I sat there and I waited for the huge swarm of enemies out on the fields to come in and then dropped an airstrike on top of them.
While bombs were still dropping, I ran straight at them through the ditch on the left side of the fields and made it to the halfway point. Once one wave of enemies dies, a new wave will almost immediately respawn and rush the fields, so the fence situated about halfway through the fields is about as far as you can get before the enemies start flooding the fields again. Once at the halfway point in the ditch, I went prone and crawled into the pipe there.
This is where it got difficult. There is usually one enemy that will run into the ditch in front of you to shoot at you, but not always. If he does, shoot him to death and then throw a smoke grenade down into the ditch maybe a dozen feet from you. Then immediately throw another smoke grenade by the far fence near the shack.
Wait for some smoke to accumulate and try not to get blown up by any grenades in the process and then once the smoke is thick enough, crawl out, stand up and run for your fucking life to the fence.
If your smoke grenades are properly spaced, no one will be able to see you to shoot at you and you should have the fence covered with smoke as well so you can climb over it unmolested. After that, toss a smoke grenade at the rail on the opposite side of the road on your right side and another on the left side, which will block you from view from the guys taking cover there.
Once the smoke grenades pop and have sufficiently smoked the area, run to the left and shoot any enemies in your way, which will be two or three at most and run straight through town, stopping inside the burned out building if you have to. Downhill from the burned out building to the left is a house with a broken fence on its left side and as you move out, two enemies will run through the fence. Shoot them and then sprint like your life depends on it through there.
After that, you're pretty much home free. Jump down the ledge and make it to the extraction point. It will take a little while for the chopper to get there, so take cover behind a gas pump or something and just wait.
When I'm sniping, I tend to prefer to continue sniping rather than having to go scrounge around for a new weapon which most likely won't even be a sniper rifle.
Actually, that's true for every weapon I ever use. I guess that's why I always take bandolier. If I'm trying to get challenges completed, I don't like to keep running out of ammo for it and only getting two extra magazines really isn't very much so getting more than twice that is nice.
No Fighting in the War Room isn't that tough, but you do have to be a bit tricky. Mile High Club is pretty tough unless you know exactly what you're doing, though.
Checkpoints not working and flash bangs not working made that part more frustrating than it should have been.
I'm fine with fighting through people, even if it's extremely hard. What I was not fine with was "you are on a level plane surrounded by enemies. See if you can not get shot for a while haha they also throw grenades into your asshole if you pause for a second idiot hahaha look at him dying."
I mean, I remember having to repeat a bunch of those two levels as well, but I at least felt like I was progressing every time instead of just rolling a die.
things worked out eventually
Now I can't do Mile High Club. I can get to the stairs with 20-24 left, but can't get through that without either dying or running out of time.
XBL: Torn Hoodie
@hoodiethirteen
AAAAAAAAA THE CHECKPOINTS
There are two tunnels where you pretty much have to go down the side tunnels to the left or right, the first of which is right after you go down a big set of stairs. It took forever, but I was finally able to get through the first area. And it took nearly 10 attempts for the checkpoint to actually kick in here. And then, after this, there's the missile-launcher tunnels. This also took a lot of work, but eventually I could get through here.
and again, the checkpoint for right before you bomb the wall didn't work.
But you know, I think it has something to do with the time remaining. They didn't want to checkpoint you about to go through the second tunnel with only 30 seconds remaining on the clock.
XBL: Torn Hoodie
@hoodiethirteen
2) Drop airstrikes in the middle of the field at 3:28 and 2:50.
3) Spend the time between 4:00 and 2:20 sniping out the windows.
4) At 2:20, run straight out of the barn door and gun down everyone in the building in front of the barn.
5) Move around the corner and snipe the baddie at one o'clock.
6) Run forward, zigging and zagging so you run by the dead cow at around 2:00.
7) Drop an airstrike to the far left of the road after the dead cow, then run and take cover in the concrete zone behind the tavern.
8) Run into the tavern around 1:30-ish.
9) Get down the stairs in the tavern. At :50 run out with the objective at one o'clock until you get pretty far, then turn so that the objective is at twelve o'clock and sprint for it.
This worked fantastically, as I didn't take any damage from about 2:30 onwards.
So can anyone rank the top 5 difficult missions for me? I imagine they would be Mile High Club, Heat, One Shot One Kill, No Fighting in the War Room and maybe Safehouse, but in what order? Am I past the worst of it?
Wait a minute...those grenades are smoke? Holy shit! I thought they were stun grenades, maybe if I tried to throw one i'd be doing a little better.
Hopefully one day i'll beat the level without a controller lost in the process.
and on a completely unrelated note I now hate sabotage, over night I started sucking hard at it.
Back to deathmatch for me, I can use some DM partners too, considering its hell to get into it without a party of sorts, any semi-active people send me an invite.
Edit:
Top 5 veteran levels.(Mile high club not included for being the most rediculous level i've ever played in any videogame ever)
1. Safehouse(The houses after the first house every single one of them..so much pain)
2. Heat
3. No fighting in the war room(More annoyingly cheap then hard, pure running and stun grenades saved the day)
4. One shot one kill(Actually found the beginning harder then the ferris wheel part, damned enemies wouldn't let me run by the buses, then I get flanked)
5. Sins of our father/Shock and awe(Shock and awe was annoying because you couldn't move at all dying was frequent, SooF was just plain annoying.
