In the part where the TIE fighters are zooming past you I bent those little support bars out into their flight path and watched them ram into them and break apart and fly across the room in little chunks. This game is awesome.
The only problem is that when they hit the support bars, they are bent back from the impact, meaning you have to reposition them to take out another TIE.
The throw is pretty slick. I hope you can unlock different ones as the game goes on, unless there is a way to do more then one throw. Love how he pins them to the ground with a force push before impaling them.

HA! I just remembered when I had my 360 fixed earlier in the year, I got a free months gold subscription card and it works.
I hope you don't have to unlock the hardest difficulty on this game.
The game is still really, really easy with the demo set has hard as it gets. I usually just spend my time trying to kill enemies in interesting ways and if my health ever gets low I just play seriously for a bit and my life bar is full after like one wave of enemies.
Why is the PS3 demo over half a gig larger in file size than the 360 version?
Also, are there any differences? Technically? I've seen no problems with the 360 one, how are the controls? I'm still up in the air about which one to get.
Maybe I should whip up another 'My wallet RIP' thread like last year. Off the top of my head I can list about 12-13 games I will be buying day one between now and christmas, and the same again on a 'when i have time ill pick it up' list.

It's not as if I'd have the time to play all those games anyway.
I'd suggest buying them as you finish them, otherwise you're far less likely to finish individual titles before moving on to the next one, and you'll also likely be spending more money than you have to.

Like I said, I'll whip something up. It's always good to have discussion on not just individual games but their placement in the fall release schedule.
Damn you, PSN! You've never been this sluggish before.
It's like everybody in the world is downloadin' this thing - which isn't close to true - I seem to be gettin' about 1% a minute.
Anyway Scarab - I thought you said you were gonna' try out both demos and their respective control schemes would inform your choice of which platform saw your purchase?

I really should download Yakkety Sax and play that during a runthrough of the demo. Seems like it'd be a fun thing to do.

I think I expected to much out of this demo. Maybe it's SCIV's fault. I was hoping it would be a jedi simulator, not another beat-em-up with light sabers.
I'm not a fan of the force grip/throw implementation, there's no good mechanic for reflecting blaster fire, and it just feels wrong to me to pull of combos on stormtroopers with a light saber... I think it should be one hit and done.
And there seems to be random motion blur happening for me.

My new favorite move is X-Y-B. It gives you a lightning saber swing that throws the victim across the room.
I love this demo. It's a great game. I can't wait 2 and a half weeks for the game itself.
And this might have been asked, but does anyone know any of the pre-order bonuses from the various retailers (Target, Game Stop, Wal-Mart, etc)? I don't really like pre-ordering, but I will for a good bonus.
This game is awesome. The QTE thing at the end didn't bother me, it was like God of War's cool finishers.
We should make a list of combos we know.
There's of course the ones they tell you:
X-X-B = Home run hit
X-Y-Y = Electric smash
RT-X = Stab dude with sabre
And I've found:
X-Y-B = Electric home run
X-X-X-B = Force shockwave
RT-Y-Throw = Electric bomb
And if you hold RB to target, you can use LB to dodge left, right, and backwards
A+X = Grapple.
During his X over and over again combo during some points if you don't mash the button the saber will flash white. If you tap X around that moment he will do a different series of swings then if you had just been mashing X.
You can also mix up your combos to get to the same finishers. X-Y-X-B will end in the Force Shockwave for example.
Hammering X as fast as you can seems the only reliable way to do the chop people in half move. Except his final swing doesnt actually dismember, it just slices them horizontally sending them flying.

In the hanger, there's a red pyramid powerup thing on the balcony even higher up from the balcony you walk in on.
Does anyone know how to get up there?

Though I don't necessarily like the complete lack of dismemberment, I think sending someone flying across the room by hitting them with a lightsaber is a totally ok way of dealing with it.

Also, I wish there was a way to turn running off. Just walking everywhere makes everything seem 100x more badass.
This post.
I love when he auto blocks when walking, he's just casually lifting his saber in front of him. I'm sure there's a way to upgrade your auto-block in the full game, so maybe we'll be able to clear out rooms just by walking.

Someone earlier in the thread said hop on top of the crashed ship and then jump, double jump, air dash. But I'm still at work and haven't downloaded the demo so I make no promises.

I threw a rebel at one of the supports, it bent back. not far enough to clip the ties so you know what i did. just kept throwing rebels at it.

SHIT, now I need to go back and try this. This game is so bought
i didn't want to qte the at-st so i kept attacking it from the back until it fell off the ledge
wasn't very satisfying, but at least it works

X-X-Y-B is better because lightning makes everything prettier

the apprentice looks nothing like his soul calibur counterpart
Well during the video at the end I noticed he was wearing different outfits. So, maybe he will as the game progresses.

unless he gets plastic surgery along with his new clothes, i don't think it's going to make a difference
This post.
Maybe he gets older? I'm not sure how long of a time period the game covers. He looks rather young in the demo though, doesn't he?
Does anyone know how to get up there?
