Hey, guys. I'm looking at cutting my hair short again, it's like four inches long now and in need of styling. I was thinking of maybe having it all cropped off really short, but i'm not sure how that would look. My hair is thick and sticks up which is a pain.
I was also thinking of maybe something like Daniel Johns from silverchair, but I can't find any good photos. Basically I'm just asking for photos people could recommend me as to what they think would look good? Thanks guys, ask me any questions if you want to know more!
my advice on the subject is biased because i am balding...but, i say keep growing your hair out. if it sticks up, like you say, you can always do the slick back thing, which would help with that, i think......
also: starmanbrand is right about the needing pics.
Go to a hair salon (not a barbershop) and ask for a "layers" cut. That's when the stylist cuts your hair in different length layers in order to make it appear thinner. Also don't slick back your hair unless you want to look like a creep.
Just swallow your man pride and go to a nice salon(not like procuts or whatever)tell 'em you want your hair short but you're not sure what would look good. They'll ask questions like "how do you want it styled" and "how short", and for all these questions "I dunno, what do you think would look good?" is a satisfactory and probably pretty safe answer
So probably some hot chick will set you up to what she thinks is hot, and you can't beat that
Yeah, I'm not really comfortable with posting pictures of myself on the internet, sorry for the inconvenience I know it's a pain in the ass.
I generally do go to stylists, but I would feel better about having an actual photo to show them that I've thought about for a while, which is why I asked for pictures. But thanks all for advice, I think I'll just go to a place and look through their albums!

It also depends on why you have/want your hair a certain length. When I was in the service, all the girls I was attracted to were going out with guys with long hair. So when I got out, I grew out my hair - worked quite well for my purposes - but after 13 years, and a wife, I said to myself "well, I dont really need to attract women anymore, and this stuff is a pain in the ass. It gets caught in things, it blows all over the damn place, and its damned inconvienint in a job interview."
Hello, Locks of Love, goodbye hair.
Now I just go to a barber every few months and have it trimmed down. My wife's still not thrilled with the shorthair version of me (as the hair came off she said I got 'older and more Confederate'), but I love short hair. Its damned easier to care for, it now comes as a big surprise to people when they discover just how wierd I am, and I dont have to think about it when I sit down, close a car door, or anything. Now, there are problems - I had forgotten I have a cowlick, and I looked damned goofy in the morning - I dont get bed-hair, I wake up with anime hair. But so far, I have no urge to go back to the longhair version.

I spend about $30 + $10 tip for a haircut every few months and I've been really happy with it so far. The type of stylists you're going to see for that kind of money actually know what they're doing and know the ins and outs of your specific hair type. I also recommend continuing to go to that same person, which not only allows you to build a trust that gives you the opportunity to try some more "chancey" looks, but also allows your stylist to know that you're happy with their work and pay accordingly.
edit: And they also know their customer base is sort of on the line. With these quick cut places, the employee base is such that they don't see repeat customers very often, especially from a young male. If you're not happy with the haircut, they're less likely to care, because even if you WERE happy, you probably won't be back.

Anyone else ends up looking like a child molester.
Yeah, actually, that does make him look kinda like a creep.

Fixed for the most important part, really.
Then go to a cheaper place two weeks from now and have them do what they did.

This is very true and I often forget this haha.
