Thread Rules
- Stay civil and don't be a jerk. Flinging insults around can get you banned, and if the entire thread spins out of control, it could get closed down for good.
- Stay on topic. While it's okay to make random predictions of what you hope to see in Brawl, do not go too far off track while discussing other series or characters. If the thread goes too far off-topic, it could get closed down for good.
- Do not make posts that simply say "blue dot" to mark this thread. Be constructive in your posts or you could get infracted.

First Songs

In Brawl there are many ways to add music to your collection, from picking up CDs to unlocking secret songs. However, the number of tracks you can access from the first time you boot up is also quite impressive!

Therefore, I thought I’d go ahead and post a list of songs available from day one.

First Songs in My Music

Look at all those songs. Look at those big names....

Just think, that big list of songs is going to do nothing but grow as you pick up CDs and unlock additional melodies.

Man, having all this great music in Brawl is such an honor!

Such Pretty Music
Series Represented
So far, we've been given a list of series that have been represented, but as we get this list, its come to us out of order. We currently have gaps as shown:

dsghdfh.bmp
1. Smash Brothers
2. Donkey Kong
3. StarFox
4. Kirby
5. F-Zero
6. Metroid
7. EarthBound/Mother
8. Pokemon
9. Zelda
10. Mario
11. Yoshi
12. Fire Emblem
13. ???
14. Ice Climbers
15. Animal Crossing
16. Wario
17. Metal Gear
18. Kid Icarus
19. ???
20. Sonic the Hedgehog
21. Nintendo DS
22. Pikmin

*22 Is the highest number we're aware of, it in no way indicates that it is the final number

It seems that icons at least require a stage to exist, so just because an icon is out there doesn't nessecarily mean there's going to be a character featuring it.

    Smash Brothers Community Terminology

This is a very thorough look at advanced Smash terms to help end confusion about them. ChopperDave wrote it and has this to say:
Whew, that took way longer than I thought it would

I wrote the first part of this guide myself, hopefully it does a decent enough job describing some of the most-confused terms. The other, lesser important terms I just lifted from a thread in Smashboards.

It's...long, so I've split it up over two posts. The first part is all most of you will want to read, anyway, the second part (from Smashboards) has got a lot of specific, kind of unnecessary terms. I deleted some of the MOST superfluous ones (BYOC = bring your own controller, for example ), but for the most part it remains intact. By the way, if there's any terms I forgot to add or didn't describe effeciently, please let me know.

    Without further ado...:
Here are Part 1 and Part 2 of the guide.

Here is something that could be considered Part 3 of the Smash Bros Terminology. It goes over common misconceptions about tournament players and seeks to help end the SmashBoards versus casual play arguments which always seem to pop up in these threads. Everyone should take a look at these discussions:

    Flash-based replica Brawl Stage Editor

This is a really cool page designed by mntorankusu, based around the Stage Creator update on the dojo. Here are some instructions and information.
Hold Ctrl and roll over the grid to quickly select squares. Hold Shift to quickly deselect.

This is a fan-made stage editor based on the one in the upcoming game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Little is known about the in-game editor, so I don't make any guarantees that this one will produce stages anything like the real game. If there are any glaring inaccuracies, contact me at mntorankusu at gmail dot com.

Also, you probably shouldn't let things overlap the wide triangle piece if you want to be able to reproduce your stage in the game. It is too difficult to disallow it in this Flash editor, but I'm fairly certain you won't be able to overlap pieces in Brawl's.

You might not be able to rotate them in Brawl either. D: Try not to be too disappointed if it turns out the stages you create using the rotate feature can't be reproduced in Brawl.

Click here to play it. Here is an example of what you can do.

Customizable signatures that display user names and friend codes.

Here is something that mntorankusu and Geod have been working on, which will allow people to easily put their favorite character and friend code in a fancy signature to help organize things once the game comes out. It allows you to choose your name, character, icon, friend code, and color of character. This is what they look like:

Working on it. My router throws a fit whenever I try to upload, lately. Had to restart thrice already.

Right, I never beat Super Paper Mario, Twilight Princess, or Metroid Prime 3.

So I was browsing through IGN's Smash characters suggestion series, since I'd never really checked it out before. Turns out something good came out of it: Exclamation Warriors.

There's no chance they'd get any more than a sticker, but I had seriously never heard of the game. The designs are awesome, and it certainly sounds unique.

I just beat Kirby's Adventure on VC. It makes me want to play as Dedede. I am so tempted to buy Star Fox 64, but I have it for my N64, which is at home. What to do, what to do?

I know it's been mentioned before, but if things related to the Subspace Emissary get leaked, please post them as spoilers. I was planning on trying to avoid everything Brawl related until it comes out, but because I'm weak I know I won't be able to stop myself from reading about the secret characters. But I'd really like to not know that much about SSE. =P

Kingmeh, I would stay out of the brawl thread until both threads are up.

The Dojo thread will be spoiler-free, but the main smash thread will be completely open and spoiler tags will be courtesy only.

However, I will personally stick new characters, stages and surprises in the OP of that post, with spoiler tags. So people can find out just as much as they wish to know.

I don't think there's any chance of this game letting me down.

The delays have already maxed out let-down potential. All that remains is awesome.

I was looking at my icon and I just thought of something. We haven't gotten any Luigi information. It seems that almost every character has a "dark" color scheme. I would kill for a fully 3D Mr. L alternate costume, though I don't think it will happen :(.

    Falco deconfirmed!

Or Sakurai just wanted people to think that.

Someone mentioned this in the last thread. Falco going down, the Ridley fight from Super Metroid, and from earlier times, having Yoshi's voice in the song before Yoshi was confirmed, things like that.

The only thing it proves is that Sakurai enjoys fucking with us all.

All the new footage looks fun, and I want to see more videos, but eventually it's just to that point where you know what the game looks like and you just want to play it for yourself. :(

    My main two concerns are:
    1) No L-canceling
    2) Starting the match as Zero Suit Samus

I can't imagine they would overlook #2, but I'm hoping the lack of L-canceling doesn't limit the playstyle of a lot of the characters. Though, I suppose once we just start playing Brawl in its own way (not trying to make it like the past two games), new strategies will come through and this won't be so bad.

L-canceling is no longer necessary because the sped up the lag on everyone's aerials. It's like an "auto-L-cancel" now.

at e 4 all, there was a way to L cancel that involved fastfalling immediately after you did your move
