On that note, I spent a couple seconds brainstorming a potential moveset for Wind Waker Link (all necessary assumptions made), with the goal of differentiating him from the Link we already know about. This is what I came up with:
B: Slingshot. Functions a bit like Link's Bow in that it has more kinetic energy the longer you hold down the button. However, the projectile is affected by gravity much more than the arrows, and the attack can be launched at a player-controlled angle.
B-Tilt: Skull Hammer. Can be used one of two ways. As a tilt, Link pulls the hammer around behind him and smashes downward, driving enemies into the ground or spiking them (depending whether or not they're in the air). As a smash, Link swings the hammer sideways, doing the same amount of damage but knocking the enemy away instead.
B-Up: Deku Leaf. A gust of wind carries Link upward, and he slowly glides downward. Pressing B while the leaf is out causes the leaf to inflate, knocking away enemies directly above Link (like in Wind Waker). Used on the ground, this attack pushes enemies backward without damaging them (like Mario's FLUDD or Squirtle's Water Gun).
B-Down: Iron Boots. Used in the air, Link crashes straight down with his Iron Boots on. While on the ground, Link loses most of his mobility, but is far, far heavier (harder to knock off and falls a lot faster). Deactivated by pressing Down-B again.
Throw: The Grappling Hook.
Final Smash: Hurricane Spin. Link slides along the ground, spinning and screaming and whatnot. You can also jump and double-jump while the Final Smash is going on, to catch people on higher platforms. After the attack concludes, Link is dizzy for a few seconds.
That's a great move list but I think that maybe his final smash should be him busting out the wind waker and calling in a massive tornado with the frog king riding it, sending people flying up off the screen.
Thanks for reminding me of that. Yeah, we totally need something like that.
Maybe defeated players join "the audience" and can help out a player they like? Throw out an item. Or throw out a Bob-omb or something if they don't like them.
So.... in the chronicles menu it lists every Nintendo game.
The names show up as you get stuff from those games.
Star Tropics content confirmed?
If there is Star Tropics content, it'd better not just be a fucking yo-yo. I will be really disappointed. Though I guess that's the iconic weapon from it.
Stock is the best because it gives the game a narrative, rather than just a crazy brawl/melee.
Hm..
I forget - have we seen anything that showed the total number of points during a timed match? I seem to have the idea that we have but I'm not really sure.
You know what this thread needs? More wild-ass speculation.
A thread on smashboards is keeping track of all the major proported leaks, comparing them, pointing out where they contradict and, impressively, pressing for more information and getting a lot of people to admit they lied.
All the debunked ones are getting thrown out, leaving fewer and fewer remaining in the list, which is updated daily. There's still quite a few contradictions, but they're lessening... and you can see a fuzzy outline of a consensus among them. Interesting. Check it out:
I really wish they'd stop putting faith in Serebii.
I mean, for you guys it seems like he's legit. But he's not the type to go "I have Brawl info...but I'll keep it to myself."
He's never coy.
He likes to blow his load and get hits TODAY.
He's only coy if there's a chance he's wrong(HE didn't get the info) or he's making stuff up to get people excited.

Which was it in the case of the PBR special codes for magmortar and electivire? I remember him showing the screens of the unlocks and being like "lol tell you guys how to do it later, suckers, but here's a hint: you will never figure it out".
Am I the only one who noticed that at 0:45 seconds into the sticker video from the "Iwata Asks" column,
there is a ROB 64 sticker? Not sure what that means for the "ROB is a playable character" leaker.

More than likely? He hadn't heard it yet.
My theory is that a friend unlocked it and he hadn't gotten the code for it yet. But seeing as how he only ever plays coy with stuff he doesn't have immediate info on, (he updates new info on games almost as soon as he gets it) I really don't trust him.
So either HIS source(i.e the person he's stealing it from) is being coy, or he has no actual info.

It seems like knowing whether he's being coy or just hasn't heard more from his sources is impossible, and you just say he knows nothing because you hates him so hard.

ROB64 was shown as a trophy in an update from long ago. I think it was the update that talks about how you can place your trophies and take pictures or something.
I'm pretty sure its his Starfox Assault incarnation, but I'm not positive.

I was just looking at Wiki's WarioWare character list. I wanted Kat and Ana before, but Ashley and Red would be great. Sort of like Ice Climbers, only Red turns into a wand for some attacks.
Really though, 9-Volt needs to be in the game. He'd be like the rookie that's so amazed and honored to be competing with all these stars. He has a hoverboard that could function like Wario's motorcycle, he could use the NES Zapper, other moves based on old games, a Final Smash involving 18-Volt, etc.
He's the spokesperson for Nintendo nostalgia, he'd be perfect for Smash.

Well this is actually WHY I hate him though, but trust me. If you are going to put your stock in anyone as having viable info, I would shy away from Serebii.

Thats taken out of context, they were talking about Trophies.
They were, but Sakurai uses playable characters from WW and TP as an example of borrowing assets from other games. Theoretically it's possible to interpret it as trophies but it doesn't really make sense.

This would mean it's not confirmed, then.
Well, nothing's confirmed, but why would him being a dick make it less plausible? Has he been flat-out wrong before, or just a dick with the info? Having access to insider information could make less savory types want to lord it over everyone else, after all.

Truthfully I haven't read anything he's said about smash - but I think if you want to get people to distrust him you should stick to the times he's posted incorrect information and played it off as a joke - didn't I hear you say he did some year-long charade and spun it as an april fool's?
Serebii has hardly said anything about Smash, the only "leak" of any significance is that he says Lucario is in and heavily implied Mewtwo's replacement.

He never says Playable in any way in his response to a question about Trophies. Characters does not mean playable, it could refer to static models of said characters like the Wind Waker Tingle trophy. The entire section was about trophies and stickers.
Hey guys, I've been gone for a few days; was there anything of pressing concern that I missed? Last things I heard of was the (possible) Iwata interview conf. of WW Link and de-conf. of Animal Crossing guy, and Serebii being a dick.
Anything else worth mentioning? (Oh, and was there any new news on the G&T/SE++ tourney?)

I wouldn't call a trophy a "Smash Bros character," would you? And it's awfully coincidental that he singled out Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, one of which has playable characters and the other is very heavily rumored to.
Question 2: Should I play Mischief Makers or Kirby 64?
It was a trick question. The real answer is to play Mario Galaxy. After a long break I went back and played it with some friends over the weekend (it was the first time for them) and was stunned at just how awesome it was again. It has the same replay quality as the old Super Mario Brothers.

Nah, I've been playing tons of Galaxy.
Also, in response to the end of DK's SSE stage: DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN
People are saying Dedede, Bowser, and Wario are being brainwashed/tricked into doing this, which makes my idea of you being able to select ANYONE for the final level/boss idea in an awesome splash screen more and more plausible

Brock is an assist with a Steelix that eats a player and takes him out of the battle for the rest of the match.
