But it was both first and currently spelled Aluminum ...
And the link under "idea" in my post is to a wiki on "Intrusive-R" ... when the letter R is pronounced at the end of a word that ends in a vowel (many British people pronounce words like idea as idear ... Check the Beatles' "A Day in the Life" (yes I get this from the wiki) where they pronounce an R at the end of saw).
blah blah blah. I'm just pokin' fun. We 'Mericans really do take liberties with Lady English - the kinds that would make a proper bloke blush.
Ah I just read that wiki, quite interesting. I never even thought about it, but surely most languages do the intrusive r thing? Otherwise pronouncing stuff like "idea about" sounds ... well, less fluid. The words will either blend together into ideabout, or you need to make a pause in your breathing which is a pain.
Anyway the english variation that americans speak is actually closer to olde worlde english anyway. It's just that the word aluminum sounds so silly to us i guess
And it is currently spelled Aluminium fool :P
It can be said/spelled either way. Now stop bickering, you silly prats and let's get a battle going.
Wow, now that we have had a very well rounded lesson in semantics, rhetoric, and the cultural impact on the spoken word as well as written, I apologize for the diversion and insist that you continue with your battle and press on. Press on!
Arrrrrgh. Okay, so I was waiting until I'd finished everything and could post it all together in one huge megaton slam, but work & bullshit has been such that my progress has sort of ground to a halt.
By your good graces, SPI, I'll be posting the rest in the hopefully near future, but I totally understand if you'd rather just annihilate me now.
You can't argue with science.....well you could, but you would be wrong!
You're falling prey to the hegemonic priesthood of scientists who want to blind you from a perfectly plausible supernatural explanation with their hyper-reductionist positivism hargl blargl shindawarglmarbibibibibibibllllll.
EDIT: Wow, worst TOTP ever; ripping off LegoRobot and everyone can see it.
One more page. "Finished" would be three more pages, in which Spex was supposed to sing an appropriate song, DarkKnight was supposed to get burnt again after giving me tacit permission in the Spex/Tanzt thread, SPI was supposed to get indignant about the system by which I measure temperature, and there was supposed to be an impromptu castle. But goddamnit I think everyone's probably tired of waiting on me and my non-excuses, particularly SPI, so I'm tempted to leave things here, sort of lamely, for the sake of all involved. Y/N?

Ok. Carry on battling.
... seriously, sorry; I got all busy and stuff. Actual fighting to follow!
Also, spellings with superfluous letters are always the best.

Oh, and: I shark scuptures.
Yeah... I should probably do one or two of the ones I'm supposed to be in, huh? Okay, as soon as videogames stop being excellent, I'm back in.
YES you should

Time for -SPI- pages now, right?
