Halo PC is such crap. And I'm not even talking about the game, its a crappy port. I got mine for free, though, with a sound card. Same with Doom 3, though I think that was with a video card.
Doesn't stop me from whining about them, though.
Yes, this was a time where I didn't own an Xbox and wanted to see what all the frigging hype was about. Whoops.
SSX Blur and Hellgate: London are probably the only games I regret buying.
I didn't care for Blur's controls nor its layout. Hellgate: London was overpriced, incomplete, buggy, poorly written and just a bore to play. Maybe if it had been released at $20-30 instead of $50 and they completely removed the notion of subscription play I'd feel less regretful.
I got some loan money in and so I went to walmart and there in the 20$ game bin was Perfect Dark: Zero.
Collectors edition. I thought "holy crap, this is sweet. They only make collectors editions out of amazing games"
Me and a friend just played it for like 30 minutes and it is freaking terrible.
I am an idiot.
I paid full price for it when it came out... But at least at launch it was worth owning for the multiplayer, it was pretty fun online but the singleplayer was ass, but now the game is empty as it has been replaced with many other better shooters.
I have to say I question your logic regarding collector's editions... They make collector's editions for some pretty shitty games. Like Hellgate. At least I didn't waste extra money on that version over already regretting buying Hellgate in the first place.
That Lunar game for the DS. I played to the first town, then never picked it up again.
The newest pokemon and castlevania ds games - not because they were bad, but because I had played the previous ones more than enough and didn't want more of the same.
guilty gear xx (wii). I have no idea what I'm doing, nobody to play it with, and no real interest. cool game, just not one I want to crack into.

Man I forgot about the new Pokemon. I got Pearl and I played about an hour and it was boring as hell. Pokemon is fun when you're a kid, but when you grow up, it just isn't what it used to be.
Really, I played all the way to Victory road, then realized that I still wasn't enjoying it. I wanted to. So bad. But it was all the same. Why can we use Mario 64's 3d on the DS great, but use the same graphic layout as the original Gameboy with pokemon for the DS?
I've been sitting here for a moment or two trying to think of a game I regret buying.
I simply can't think of one. Every game I have purchased have been good ones for me so far. Yeah I'm sure I have games that other people hate, but none that I can think of that I don't like.

You probably need to either buy more games or get higher standards. O_o
I probably just need to get higher standards for games. I have something like 50 ps2 games and 13 ps3 games, and gamecube + xbox games. I could definitely say which games were least favorably reviewed, but I still like them. I love pretty much every genre of game too, so I like the variety.
I've bought and thrown the discs out twice so far. I've just uninstalled it from my computer and I'm ready to throw out my 3rd set, but I can't bring myself to do it. Every week I struggle with the urge to reinstall and go nuts, but I can't afford the time and the GPA hit.
I once walked into my favorite game shop and saw a copy of Super Street Fighter 2 for the PC. For some reason, I thought it was SSF2 Turbo, and since I wanted to see what this Akuma guy was all about, I bought it.
Of course, when I got home, it turned out that not only was it regular SSF2, a game I already owned for the SNES, but I couldn't even get the sound to work. It was put into a box of old junk the same day and has never left it since.
And then there's the N64. I can't really say I regret buying it (almost exclusively thanks to Rare), but if I'd known then what I know about the N64 and its first-party games today, I probably wouldn't have bought one.

The 64 had some great games.
I always felt alone at school because everyone had a Playstation and would only talk about how awesome games like "Apocalypse" featuring the voice of bruce willis were and how sucky the n64 was.

All of my friends and family made fun of me for playing with silly plastic instruments to questionable covers of songs. Now it's the most popular damn game in the universe and people are all like LETS PLAY and then get pissed when I rule them because I've been playing these things for god damned ever.

There's something not quite right about Diamond / Pearl. Everything seems much slower.
One of the coolest ideas for a video game, and they completely messed it up with small fonts, annoying messages that you can't skip, and fuzzy everything so i have no idea where to fucking go. Plus the saving is horrendous. Really ashamed this was made by CAPCOM. Had me fooled.
Has anyone purchased Kane and Lynch? I heard it was horrible, but it looked pretty good. Anyone feel regretting buying that game? Give me your info with a PM, i'm interested in the game a little.

I agree with this. I heard so many great things about it from a few friends, and it looked really cool, so I got it.
Problem 1 -- I had a standard resolution TV and couldn't read the small font, so I just followed arrows.
Problem 2 -- For some reason it froze at certain points, but only if the hard drive was plugged in. So I just bought a memory card and unplugged the hard drive.
Problem 3 -- The save system is ridiculously punishing, it reminds me of old NES games. So I just play a bit for a few days at a time, then die and lose a lot of play time, so I stop playing it for a couple months.
Well, after having not played it in about 6 months, I have since gotten an HDTV. I thought "Ooo, Dead Rising would be fun to play now, because I could actually read the font and kill zombies in glorious HD!" I popped it in and I just don't get what people see in it.
I think the main things that break it for me is the amazingly repetitive gameplay and the shitty save system. The odd hard drive freezing and non-HD fonts are also highly annoying.
I'm still looking forward to a zombie survival game done right. At least I have RE4.

Some people here have bought it.
Most people who actually own it think that it's a decent, but not particularly special, game.
Most of the negative press was centered around the Gamespot controversy rather than the quality of the actual game.
Eh I know a few people who think it's a massive shit burger but I guess it's a matter of opinion. Most of the opinions range from bad to average so I guess you'll have to make the call yourself.
Dragon Ball Z Taiketsu for GBA. I bought it because I liked DBZ at the time, and expected it to be good like the Budokai games. It is ridicously easy and played and looked like crap. When I got it, I had unlocked absolutely everything within three days. It's the only game that I have ever traded in.
Hellgate: London. I'm going to mention it even though I didn't buy it myself, but got it as a gift. It was kinda fun at first, but it got boring very quickly.
You didn't like Okami? All i've heard are good things, but Im waiting for the inevitable Wii Version.
I've played okami, and to tell you the truth, it's just like Zelda: Windwaker (graphics and gameplay).
So if you like japanese stuff, and you like cell shaded games, you'll dig this one. It's pretty much just like Zelda, only has personal missions or different stuff to defeat enemies like drawing certain items. Gets boring after a while though i heard.

easy, boring combat, too much text, pointless sidequests
no i did not
I don't really regret buying Okami but... I did get bored with it. I play games mostly for story and character, and I found the story in Okami to be pretty dull. This is made worse by the INCREDIBLY slow text that is used in cut scenes that you can't skip through or speed up. I played about...20, 30 hours I guess before I just got tired of it.
Of course, to be fair, I'm not really a fan of Zelda games either. (Don't kill me folks!)
I will say that Okami is a gorgeous, gorgeous game, so I really appreciated the game on an artistic level.
Unreal Tournament 3. I dunno, it's just...bleh. Maybe it's because I don't like the super-ultra-mega-muddy-gritty-dirty style, where everyone looks like steroid abusing dwarves in hilariously bad armor.
