PS3: Oblivion. Not because it's not a great game... it is, but I just wish I would have got the PC version for better controls and player-made mods. It does look and run better on PS3 though.
True, if I wanted to blow a ton of money I could maybe make it look and run better on PC... maybe. But on your average 3-4GHz assembly-line PC it doesn't run as good.
I originally regretted buying it about 20 minutes into the game because it wasn't what I thought it was. I was very disappointed because I was under the impression (for whatever reason) that it was a big, open-ended world similar to Morrowind. Coupled with the ethical system and other interesting characteristics I thought it was going to be Morrowind only a hundred times better. What I got was a series of largely linear environments and a short storyline.
However I kept playing anyway and enjoyed it for what it was. So I'm still interested in seeing what Fable 2 has to offer.
I definitely regret buying Yoshi's Island DS. Terrible game - horrible engine, bad "look at us, we can sort-of copy Nintendo's original graphics a bit" graphics. Artoon should've either asked to use the original engine and graphics, or just not have bothered.

lol. :P
on the other hand, I found it to be a very fun platformer. Not as good as the original, of course. But a fun and thoroughly enjoyable platformer.
Thing is with Yoshi's island DS is that they used most of the graphics from yoshi's touch and go as well as some bits and pieces from YI but the other stuff they actually made themselves was fucking horrible. Really bad amateurish spritework.
Dune2000: I thought this would be the grand sequel to one of my favorite games Dune2, it failed badly.
That was never meant to be a sequel anyways, just a remake. So if you were expecting more than that, your expectations are what failed. Granted I never played either, so I don't know if it succeeded at being a decent remake or not.

it basically turned out to be a Red Alert clone with stuff named after units from Dune2. As a remake as well it horribly failed.
I absolutely loved Dune2, being one of my favourite and most played games of my adolescence, and I thought Dune2k was great. Some things were lost in the translation to RA style gameplay like being able to build 25 palaces and pound your enemies into atomic dust with 25 simultaneous death hand launches. But it was a fantastic version of Dune done in Red Alert style. Plus I adored the way they incorporated the style of the David Lynch film into the game.

that's what made the last level so great. Also with that, I missed building up uber fremen armies that would eventually take over the map. With ordos it was a lot tougher, but a bunch of saboteurs actually helped. There was more missing from Dune2k though, subtle stuff like units that each side got (barring the special units). Like Harkonnen only using troopers since other infantry were considered weak, etc.
You can still build up uber fremen armies, it just takes a while. And fremen were only really useful in dune2 when you got the odd group that would bug out and the enemy wouldn't attack. Yeah, they went a little odd with the different stuff the sides got. Like Harkonnen with trikes, but at the same time the actual levels were a lot more interesting. Both terrain wise and mission wise. I consider it more of a reimagining of the game if it were made at that point in time rather than a straight remake really.

Man that's nothing compared to Emperor: Battle for Dune (I think that was the name).
You know that shitty minigame in FF7 with the polygon armies and shit? That's kind of what it looked like, but somehow even more stupid.

i forgot about that. It didn't help either when they would attack fucking HARVESTERS.
Emperor had some really cool ideas with regards to the missions and sub missions in each zone as well as counter attacks and sub houses but it suffered gameplay wise by being one of the first full 3d RTS games (the first Westwood did anyway) I kinda still like it though. It brought in lots of bastardized ideas from the books, like shooting a shielded unit with a laser and making a huge explosion and having face dancer assassins and so forth (although they REALLY bastardized the ideas they borrowed from the books). The mechs and stuff were a bit much for me though, I liked the tanks better.

For me it was Titan Quest. Ran like poo on my computer and as far as I was concerned had seen much better looking games run on far less.
Supreme Commander. It was cool and all but meh
Company of Heroes. I feel ashamed but I never gave even played it. Was going through too many other games at the time. Will come back to it one day though as it seems cool
I'm not sure or not, but I think I'm starting to regret picking up Contact. I found it going cheap in a Walmart in Houston, and I haven't really played it much since - largely because I found some green crystal thing that I've been told I'm supposed to do something with, but I can't even so much as pick the bloody thing up.
I imagine I'll dip back into it. I keep taking my DS into work with me for that reason, but I never seem to muster up the will to do so.
Spiderman 2 when I was in Uni, I bought it for the PC as that was the machine I had at the time, was a complete pile of pants
The PC version was a completely separate game from the console versions. A friend of mine made the same mistake after seeing good reviews of the console versions, he bought the PC version because hes completely inept with controllers and prefers PC versions if possible(Seriously, the fucker bought Sands of Time for PC and played it with a mouse and keyboard, I still don't get how), found out it was utter crap, and ended up buying the Xbox version anyways and playing the hell out of it.
I buy too many VC games. I just grab them all up when they come out without realizing that everything I played on NES or SNES or Sega was great.
Zelda II. Why? I have no idea why. I can't figure out what to do or if it's even supposed to be fun.
Toejam and Earl. Same thing, I forgot I remember playing ToeJam and Earl TWO, which WAS fun.
Also, for the Wii, Mario Party 8. It's like they took what was fun on the old Mario Partys, took that out, and added a RANDOM STAR GENERATOR!
Manhunt 2 for the Wii. It is just a bad game. A very bad game. Poor design, poor story, poor graphics. Everything about it was just BAD. I try not to trade in games but these two Wii games just had to go.
With PAX coming up I've got to start saving my money from bad games and put them torwards gas. But I still think I'll swipe up No More Heroes. That can't be bad can it?
Hmmm, Elebits on wii for me. Even though I didnt buy it, i asked for it the xmas it came out from my in laws, played about 10 mins of it and shelved it. Monkeyball for wii is also underwhelming, luckily i got it on the cheap from TRU. I have to be very selective of what games i buy as I barely have time for gaming as it is (3 kids, job, wife etc...)

It's gotten mixed reaction. I, personally, think it's awesome. Especially if you can relate to Travis and like action games.
To stay on topic, games I regret buying. . .
Devil May Cry 2. I will never understand how they fucked up the brilliant formula of 1 to make 2. Thank God that 3 was a return to form and 4 seems to be continuing that trend.
Assassin's Creed. From the sci-fi bullshit to the incredibly repetitive gameplay, I just was terribly disappointed.
Final Fantasy XI and XII. The former due to the absolutely ridiculous grind and forced partying for everything and XII for both the dry gameplay and even dryer story. These two games, coupled with the rise of the "Final Fantasy Sequel", turned me off to the franchise completely.
Resident Evil Survivor and both Resident Evil Outbreaks. The former due to the absolutely horrid gameplay and the latter two due to the forced meme system, the unreliability of online play and the barely playable single player.
Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance for the Xbox. Nothing wrong with the game (I've never played the PS2 version to compare), but the fact that it isn't (And never will be) backwards compatible with the Xbox 360 just pisses me off. Oh, and the extreme scarcity of MGS2:S for the PS2. Luckily, the new Essential Collection for the PS2 should rectify that problem.
Metal Gear AC!D 1 and 2. Not only completely seperate from the plot of the main games, but cards? Really? In Metal Gear? Ugh. At least Ghost Babel was good.
Sonic Heroes. The game that killed Sonic the Hedgehog for me. Luckily, he is being revived in Super Smash Bros Brawl.
Solar Jetman. Hardest. Game. Ever. I wasted probably weeks of my life playing that game when I was 8 or so.
These two in particular I'll probably get shit for.
The Jak and Daxter series. I played the original back when it came out and it was alright. Very obvious that it was meant to be the new Crash Bandicoot (Which I liked well enough. The Naughty Dog Crashes, specifically). Then I got Jak II. Huh. Let's mix a platformer with Grand Theft Auto. Really didn't click for me. Jak 3 was the same.
The Ratchet and Clank series. When Tools of Destruction came out, people raved about it. I wasn't going to have a PS3 for awhile, so I figured I'd try the R&C games. Well. . .the first one was a snoozefest. But, people said to start with Going Commando, so I figured I'd give it another try. Again. . .snoozefest. Up Your Arsenal was also, unsuprisingly, a snoozefest.
I'd say maybe platformers aren't my thing, but. . .I love Mario (From the original to Galaxy (Except maybe Sunshine)), use to love Sonic, and found the original three Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon games fine enough. So. . .maybe I just don't like guns in my platformers?
Anyway, in my case, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. Pure shit. Yes, I knew it wasn't going to be a traditional RPG. Yes, I knew it was going to be hack and slash. I like hack and slash. The old D&D arcades were great, Dynasty Warriors is great, Diablo is great.
Dark Alliance is shit. Its so boring, I had to force myself to beat it, even though its very short. I then sold it. I usually don't sell even my mediocre games that I'll never play again.
Bioshock. I just never got into it
I think to really get anything out of sup com ( at least the original ) you really need to have a friend or 2 that wants to play online with you because if not people will just roll on you and you feel like shit. However the expansion forged alliance had a really good single player storyline with fun missions. You build up your base and do whatever it wants you to do then oh shit the map just got bigger and there are 2 enemy bases behind yours!
Oh, and the extreme scarcity of MGS2:S for the PS2. Luckily, the new Essential Collection for the PS2 should rectify that problem.
Man, what? I've seen a bunch of copies recently and it goes for like 4.99 or something ridiculous. In fact, I have a copy sitting on my shelf right now!
The Xbox version of Substance is pretty easily found, but damned if I can find it anywhere on PS2. The price, yeah, it's around $5.
I'm talking both versions. He must just live in a shitty area. I, however, have 3 gamestops in ONE MALL. That's right, 3 in one mall. Suck on that.

I recently bought Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 for the Wii. I'd heard it had good FPS controls, and the 32-person multiplayer was a big plus. The controls were good, and the multiplayer was okay, but I just couldn't get into it. I tried hard, but it just didn't click with me.
But then I traded it in for No More Heroes, and that totally made up for it.
I'm in an odd situation, as I am almost definitely going to buy a game I will regret buying. MGS3: Snake Eater. I could snag it for $10. I had MGS2 for my PS2, and played up to the part with the guys watching a movie in the big room (So basically I didn't play it at all) and put it down.
I suck at stealth games, and I will almost undoubtedly suck at this game.
To be honest I've always wanted to be able to play it, just so I can not feel dirty when I laugh at the exclamation point/codex/snaaaaaake/box jokes.

It's actually easier to run-and-gun it on all but the highest difficulty, so it's worth a shot.

I couldn't get past the third screen with the original's camera.

It looks better on my 4 year old PC than it does on my xbox. Though the framerate is better on the 360.
Was it meant to be? I rented it. Didn't like it. But I didn't feel like it was meant to be another Yoshi's Island.
