Happy: Third Tempest of Chaos in ~7 Archimonde kills. I think we've finally surpassed the curse of weapon drops that we carried throughout pre-BC raiding (never saw any of Nef's weapons, our DPS warrior didn't upgrade his OEB until Twin Emps, etc). Still haven't seen a single dagger from Naj'entus though. I hope we get lots of Zhar'dooms because I want one to play with.

    Someone let me raid ret.

    The story of my life.

no no, I didn't get to raid as ret.

I'm stating that someone here should let me raid ret.

We have two full-time Ret pallies. If shit gets hectic, they will throw out some heals, but for the most part, they just throw out massive DPS. Who doesn't want a ret pally these days? Judgments always up, very good DPS, and plate, so they can take a hit, if they have to. Yes please.

There is some truth to "more than one ret pally is a waste" though. One retadin can keep up the judgements from the prot/holy pallies and give 3% raidwide crit, but a second one doesn't really bring much additional stuff to the table apart from the 2% extra damage to his group.

Yeah we decided to try one out two months ago, and the first guy we recruited was sort of a retard, and his attendance was not great too, so we denied his trial. But then we got this other guy in January and he's so good. Like not only does he give buffs but he's usually rather high on the meters himself, and he doesn't die like an idiot all the time. Very happy to have him. But sort of like our enhancement shaman, we have just the one, because you don't really need more than one in the raid. Especially since we tend to have just one melee buff stacked group, so a second ret dude would be stuck with tanks or something.

Both of our Ret pallies do good DPS though. One of them got 2nd overall in SSC on Sunday night, without windfury. Everyone else had it, and he still managed to get 2nd. That's pretty impressive to me, and more than enough reason to bring him, whether his ability to keep up judgments is wasted or not.

We have some new people that we just recruited. They aren't as geared as we are, for sure, but they aren't slouches. I think perhaps you guys just haven't experienced awesome ret pallies. Those of us in mostly T5 equivalent are doing a consistent 1k+ DPS (the fury warrior hovering around 1500-1900 on trash, and the newer recruits range from 750-1,000. The ret pally in 2nd was sitting around 950 DPS overall. Without windfury. That's over 1,100 DPS with WF, most likely. I mean, it's not HOLYSHITAMAZING, but it certainly isn't sub-par.

Yeah, i've been impressed with ret dps in 5-man heroics. Be interesting to watch them in a raid setting... my guild's only has 2 pallies, one enjoys prot tanking too much, and the other has been brainwashed by the "heal or go home" mindset, and we haven't told him about ret's viability.

I don't know about that. Most ret I've seen in heroics are wielding crappy dungeon blue and their meter is like slightly above the tank or, worse, below the tank.

Those people are making us look bad.

At this point I'd just be happy to have a paladin of any spec join our raid. We used to regularly bring three, but now we only have one, and only getting Salv blows. One of our paladins is now living on the side of a mountain and still may not have internet access at home, and I don't even know what happened to the other one. WTB Kings, pst.

On the bright side, though, I got the recolored T6 shoulders off of Anetheron when nobody else wanted them. Besides looking like ass in comparison to the Warlock T5 and having no hit on them, I did see a gain in spell damage and crit even after I swapped out my Violet Eye exalted ring for Ashyen's Gift to make up the loss in hit. It would be really nice for me to get an upgrade that wasn't a loss in hit, though, because I'm almost out of things I can do to make it up.

Oh, and I also got SotS Revered. Now I only have boss drop designs left before I have all the epic cuts.

And then, to finish off the night, I took my druid on a 5-man stealth run to Lady Liadrin in Silvermoon, which was an easier 11g than most dailies.

Happy: Last night was my first time running Kara from the beginning (through to Curator).
Not so happy: I died on Moroes at 5% (stupid garrote), Maiden at 0.000001% (healer got lazy and figured the fight was over), and Big Bad Wolf at 100%.

Raid: New guy, you know how this one works?
Me: Oh, yeah, I read all about it. He'll turn one of us into Little Red Riding Hood and we run around, making sure not to cut corners!
    Raid: Awesome! Lets go.
Fight starts, I proceed to run towards wolf to start stabbing, but he instantly turns me into LRR and eats me. Embarrassing.

Even being dead for the entire wolf fight, I managed #2 on the damage meters, so at least there's that.

Hate: being put on adds. I hate adds.

Edit: Oh, and while I didn't get any loot this time, I did get enough badges to get a nether to craft the second piece of Primal Intent (the belt). Two more nethers and I'll have the chest. Yay!

Oh yeah, little hate: 284 rep from exalted with Scale of the Sands, and being forever done with Hyjal (but still going, of course, just having the option to sit if I want to or they need the space).

Further hate: my net connection sucking goat ass a week or two ago caused me to disconnect during the Archimonde kill. I could still loot the corpse, but I didn't want anything there, so I didn't care.

It would have, however, put me over the hump and gotten me my spiffy new ring of overpowered amounts of attack power.

Of course, replacing the ring lowers my hit. Yet again.

God damnit, BT had better drop some shit I can use today and tomorrow.

    Fucking RNG.

I specced out of Holy in December '06. I saw the writing on the wall.

Also happy: My ret paladin's gear is coming together. Ragesteel Shoulders and Gloves, made. Mats for chest done, just needing a nether-carrying crafter. Mats for goggles done, just needing one nether. Mats for sword done except for the Primal Mights, which are being steadily transmuted once every 23 hours by my own Draenei alchemist, using mats entirely collected by hand (i.e. no buying primals for it off the AH). After that, all I think I have left to collect are boots, belt, and cape. And then I can grind out of level 66 up to 70 where I can actually equip all this.

Priests and druids never had that luxury. "So we'll bring one priest for Imp DS, one or two resto druids for battle rezzes, and some paladins for healing, olol".

Depends on how the player defines fun. Fighting two dozen mobs at once and whittling down all of 'em solo is fun. Facing down a single mob and killing it with a few mighty crits is fun. Depends on taste as to which is more fun.

I've fallen in love with Prot, and while I continue to work on my healing set as the opportunity presents itself, I'm not sure when or if I'll ever go back.

Either way, holy is not fun.

Prot is fun if you like playing a lot and like needing to have ridiculous gear, and never, never dying no matter what.

Ret is fun if you like to the above, but not as much ridiculous gear and more humongous crits (which sometimes leads to dying real fast).

I think what's NOT in that post speaks louder than what is.

Seriously, though, I don't really mind this change. As a shaman, I'm used to having the worst mana conservation of all healing classes. But with my gear, my bare-bones downranking, combined with the spiffy new mana spring and water shield are all I really need. Of course, I can heal multiple people and let the game minimize my overhealing for me.
