Hate: This very off topic thread full of NON WOW DISCUSSION.
I don't see any "[WoW]" in the thread title.
In fact, I'm making a point of there never being one.
but you are ruining my desire to polarize a forum into two very cliquish sub forums!
oh ho ho
I dunno, having a WoW group terrorizing every other MMO player everytime they post in joint-thread would be pretty cool.
Though that may or may not happen now, since everytime someone posts anything someone else posts "Man that game sucked"
Jim by the way GW sux.
thats already happened >.> I feel like gw players in general may feel like that kid that gets picked on in school 'cos he isn't cool..... Except in this instance because we're not geeky enough =p

Well, when someone posts a thread asking "Should I try WoW or FFXII or Eve?" People tend to be civil and say "Well these are the +s these are down -s." It's the other threads people get agressive in, like the screenshot threads people tend to get into random debates about games. Same thing happens in the WoW class threads, except it'll be a discussion about a class the thread isn't about.
GW is also in an odd spot, since it's MMOish but not an MMO, or at least that's what it was considered when it first came out. Unless that's changed, I always thought it belonged more in the games forum
I am pretty ignorant about Guild Wars, how does the Multiplayer portion of it work? Is it similar to finding a game in Diablo 2? Or do you actually wander around in a world with several hundred other people in the same location?
(That has got to be a hate of GW players, other people not knowing how the multiplayer stuff is dealt with.)

Basically there are towns and outposts, you meet up and party up in there. Then whenever a member of that party leaves said town/outpost your taken to an instanced zone where you have only the people that were in your party when you left.
Don't know if thats like Diablo 2 as I kinda ignored it =p

I personally think it is an MMO just kinda.... limited. In some ways that your typical MMO isn't. For example, most areas you can only have a party of 8. And the largest PvP events you can have is 3 teams of 8v8v8.... So nowhere near as big as WoW's 40 man raid groups. Or Eve's huge pvpness (that a word? =/)
Either way. Guild Wars is just a build up for Guild Wars 2 =pp Which will finally have a Z axis 8-)
Man, I loved the style of GW, but having to be partied to make any real progress was downright frustrating. That's why I quit FFXI. Something cons as "an easy opponent," should be an easy opponent. Not a face raping machine. Fuck you so hard, FFXI.
GW always gets my approval because the armor is so so pretty. Then people go and post EQ2 screens and I turn into that asshole who just mocks other people's games.

Well that's because EQ2 sucks.
I'm forever trying to care about EQ2.... Still trying to happen... Nope. Nothing =/

Red Beard was a fun game.
Also, Mercy, you never see non-WoW players telling the WoW players they don't recognize their terms in these threads .

Happy: Trying to get a confirmation on this, but MMO-Champion is reporting that mages are getting new portal spells -- Alliance to Theramore, Horde to Stonard.
Yeah, no one likes partying with nubs. So they invented heroes =p can do the whole game with NPC's now to nightfall XD
Wait, what? Heroes? Nightfall? English?
Guild Wars Nightfall introduces a new type of NPC. The hero. Basically a henchmen NPC that levels as a normal player, and you choose the skills they use. You can have up to 3 heroes in your party (providing the area will let your party account for that many). They're actually really good because you can customise their skills and weapons to work well with your team.
Also, you have greater control over their movement etc.
I would love to roll on the leather. However, I'll be rolling along with a handful of friends from RL that would probably drown me in a pool of my own fetid blood if I did so. These are the same friends that seem continually surprised that I'm not only a viable member of the group, but that I frequently outdamage them. My frustration is palpable.

GW has the worst fucking community ever. I got to 20 and played a fair bit through the first games story without meeting one decent person in the whole fucking world.
Even with WoW's infamous community of retards, it pales in comparison to GW.
It looks pwetty though.
e: Oh, and all the previous topics like this had WoW in the title ( I remember 6 of them in my short time here, there was probably a lot more). It's unofficially a WoW thread...

It's not your fault Blizzard fails horribly at itemization. There is zero mail with +STR outside of Shammy T4, which is insane. There needs to be more mail gear with plate stats. Blizzard makes classes and specs, and then moves on to something else, instead of making sure itemization is where it should be. Idiots.

Well, upon drowning, you could rest assured that they're being complete assholes.
If I were in your position, I wouldn't necessarily bid or roll on the first drop or two of a leather piece, but I certainly would after that.
Why? Why would they do this? What mail gear is superior to plate for a warrior? The Itemization for Fury Warriors is better than it is for a lot of other classes/specs.

Because sometimes the RNG hates you, and the mail epic is better than the shitty rare plate you're wearing? Or bcause you haven't upgraded your _________ in like 6 months, and it's better than sharding it?
Hell, I know some warriors that swear by leather in a pinch, and some of it is apparently very, very good, or so they tell me.
Forar on
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!
warrior itemization has always been pretty good, and plate has almost always been better aside from a few select pieces
the problem with all this new plate is that it has a good chunk of strength, then half of the item level attributed to stam, then everything else gets dumped into hit with a bit of haste rating sprinkled on top
rogues are the only dual wielders that have hit fetishes, warriors and shamans need to stay hit capped for their MH only
I'd totally buy some of the DPS plate on my paladin if it wasn't itemized for a rogue that's into strength and pvping with no resilience

Things change, and I for one look forward to seeing some people from other games come in here to brag and/or bitch.
Happy: Have my 2nd account up and running, as well as my now 55 druid transfered over to it. I can now two box with my warlock or hunter with ease.
Hate: I still have to level him more I'm so tired of running azeroth, I've summoned him over to thrallmar, and just started killing everything around me with my warlock. He's still too low to get any of the quests though. I'm not sure if this is faster than going back to Azeroth and questing or not. Seems to be getting about 500xp/kill which seems about equal to AZ dungeon runs, only insanely faster and easier.
Hate: I"ve been farming the shit out of ST on my rogue, and still no epic sword I think he'll be level capped for ST exp before he gets it, but by god he's going to get one!
Love: Two-boxing, I can do so much more, without having to worry about assholes arguing about loot and stuff. Sure I can't run instances by myself (my lvl anyway), but nothing like having someone need on a BOE blue in a PuG and find it on the AH from them a few days later. Plus, multi-person quests are now done by just me, no more LFGing forever for them.

Whether they find a life there or not, I think Jupiter should be called an enemy planet.

In Karazhan? There is exactly one piece of DPS plate in the entire instance: Ironstriders of Urgency off of Nightbane. That's it. All other Kara plate is tanking or healing.
Also home of the water elemental dude nobody visits anymore 'cause nobody runs MC.
Boy, he must be lonely.
Aqual Quintessence, anyone?
Today was meant to be an offday, so on a whim we reran MC. Gave the new folk and those who never really raided at 60 their first look at where raiding all began, which was pretty nice. Trouble is, we realised early on that none of us had brought out Quintessence. Quick portal to IF and we headed back with three between us. Then one of them left, and we realised just after Shazz that we had 40 mins cooldown on one and 50 on the other. We had 8 minutes left on the shorter when we killed the final boss before Majordomo, with three runes left to get...
We were saved by a guildie logging on unexpectedly and hightailing it over to us with his Quintessence, but that got rather scary rather quickly; didn't want to have wasted that time (Okay, it was wasted anyway, but for the folks who'd never seen it before it felt pathetic to come all that way then not show them the main attraction).
I got nervous about the bosses past Shazz or so, but I needn't have. The complex multimob bosses become something of a joke when you introduce them to a paladin tank and mass consecration. The only one which genuinely was problematic was Sulf, since we couldn't easily separate the mobs and couldn't nuke down rapidly enough. Eventually one of the druids went bear, which worked just fine.

There's a ton of leather that are excellent upgrades.

Certainly there were times where mail was better in vanilla wow.

Heh, I like the beard.
The core problem with ret paladins is that general "paladin dps plate" is bad for ret paladins.
