The thing is, I promised I wouldn't post anything till I actually finished something. I just can't get around to finishing anything at all. These are all doodles I did at work or doing laundry while listening to electronic music.
I did this for work, it was sent out to all our clients via the newsletter, prizes for best colouring in job by the kids. Reactions ranged from 'it looks insane' to 'why is it fucking the egg'. I tried really hard to make something that could pass as being pure and innocent and hey, I guess I failed!
I can't quite peg what kind of vibe I'm getting from this. I know that its mostly Metal Slugish, but at the same time I'm getting a vague, and specific, FLCL impression. Particularly from the treatment of the contour and outline, in regards to the episode where the MM robot comes out of Ninamori's head after making contact with Naota's forehead. That's assuming, of course, that you're familiar with FLCL that is. Anyway, that's the overall vibe that I'm getting from it, which is to say, a huge fucking thumbs up.
Edit: On second thought, there's also a vague sense of Stand Alone Complexishness to it as well. But just to reiterate, I do highly approve.
if it makes you feel any better, I have never once drawn anything even remotely pure, innocent, or even remotely safe. I confident that most regulars around here can attest to that. That being said, I personally find it to be remarkably tame. Its seriously lacking in anything genitalia or sex related to be considered otherwise.
damn,.. Irukas and Scosglens posts makes me want me to go hang myself. Too. Frikkin. Good.
I need some feedback on this thing. Anatomy is... not quite human... I played around with a few parts, like the abs, the muscles on the arms, proportions... but is it believable?
(edit: what I mean is: is it too much wierd or too little?)
Sam, his arms don't appear to be the same size, especially his right forearm and his right hand seem much bigger than the left. Also, the shoulder anatomy bothers me. I don't know if you want human anatomy on it or not, but his shoulders are jutting out rather a lot. He's also smuggling watermelons in his arms But I'm not an expert on anatomy, I'm still fiddling with it myself often enough.
Horrible scan time! (Hijacked the in-laws scanner as I still don't have my own, didn't have much time to fiddle with the settings). One of the few things I drew over the weekend there.

Awesome, your lines are beautiful to look at.
I see this guy most weeks when I walk into work, he always leans over his porch fence with pipe in hand and a scowl on his face. I've alway been meaning to sketch him but I always forget or other things get in my way.
So I (big booming voice)POWER SKETCHED(/big booming voice) him in about 3 minutes at work with black ball-point pen and a scrap piece of paper. Unfortunately I made his pipe incredibly enormous and the hands look shithouse, but that's what you get. I may try to turn this into something later but for now.
I didn't plan this guy out too well before I drew him; he started out as a practice sketch and I decided to scan him into photoshop and play around with the color. His sword and his lower body are kinda jacked. Still practicing, I have a long way to go.
This is a concept for an oil painting I want to start on in the next little while. Need more work with anatomy.
Did this with a mouse. Took me forever. Eh.

It's scary making your first art post here isn't it?
I think your stuff is very nice, you have a good eye for light, which is more than I can say for myself. I think you've nailed the flaws in your work on your own, and I honestly can't see any other major ones at quick glance. Good job.
EDIT: Oh and good work with the mouse, mouse work drives me near bonkers.
Fantasyrogue - thanks for the feedback - I made some adjustments based on your feedback - please let me know if it's an improvement/too much/too little/etc. I'm thiking about shifting the right (his left) arm a notch closer to his body. The reason I hesitate on that is because I've allready done that 3-4 times allready (yes - the shoulder was even further streched out before). And what about his man-nipples? Too small? Misaligned I think...
It does look better I'd like to say that it seems the arms are still not the same size, his right arm still seems bigger than the left. The nipples might be misaligned, the left one (our left) might need a slight adjustment. Maybe grab a reference to double check. Something about the way his pecs flow into his arms bothers me. It feels a tiny bit like his arms are being cut off (specifically the right one) and causing those balloons on his upper arms :P I'm not sure how you really want the anatomy on this though, human like or just believable but alien (should I say, centaurian).
(I hate giving advice, I am never sure if I even know what the heck I'm talking about)
Starting to slap some colour onto this. Early stages still, testing things need to rework others, who knows whether I'll finish it or not.
It really doesn't matter if you know exaktly why something looks suspicious when giving critique. For me it's often enough to just get my suspicions confirmed so I know I'm focusing on a real problem.
Now this is the last update before I move on to other things. I'll take a re-look at the left/right arm size problem later. The shoulders are more realitic now which I think makes it more "believable".
The three navals going up into the chest cavity freaks me out. It just doesn't make sense. there would be no room for his other organs. If anything, I'd think they would start where the naval actually is on a human and go down.
I don't even think that would make sense - why would a centaur need three umbilical cords during gestation?
I'm not complaining, though. I think it points out nicely that even in the "human" half of him he's not entirely human. (Of course, stallions don't have nipples, so if you wanted to make him really freaky you could take those off and have an excuse as to why you did.)

So on the same subject of bald men (although this is, regrettably, nothing to do with TF2) and unfinished bald men at that:
Kind of built up the middle and then realised I'd screwed up the eyeline. Probably come back to it though.
HUGE RAPE. IE the image is huge.
I forgot how to make spoiler tags...sorry.
stop shading with black!
stop shading with black! shade with greys!
Sometimes I think you just follow me across the internet to be mean to me
don't use straight-up black when you're rendering forms, most of the time it reads as a hole, especially when the background is black
of course, it ain't true all the time, but it's a good exercise
I don't wanna flood the topic with these, but I like these two especially.
The first is a Straight Ballpoint doodle during pizza and the other is a drunk sketch that I inked.

There's nothing wrong with using black to shade on a black and white pic.
making the background black though does make it look like a hole unless you blend it well.
Because, you know, Portals.
Edit: I'm sure proportions are off because it looks wrong in some places to me blah blah blah talking to myself.

Next time I'm at a career fair or some other nametag oriented event, I'm gonna try something like that (at my own risk).
Our first game is now available for free on Google Play: Frontier: Isle of the Seven Gods
Truthfully harps you can flood with those all you want, very cool stuff.

Thanks Mustang, that guy looks like a real character.

All of that was apropos of absolutely nothing.
Hope this doesn't break any scrolls
