Canadian Omeganaughts?

Silly question but has there ever been a Canadian Omegamaught Contestant? Do they even consider Canadians when picking who will participate? If this has come up before, please forgive me the search option doesn't want to work...so sorry =P

There wasn't a single one last year which I found somewhat strange because I know there were a lot of Canadians at PAX...

Hopefully we'll see one there this year!

I vote yes on this idea. I'll be tackling the Canadian Supertrip thread this week, I'd be pretty stoked if we grew this year. Having thought about the trip since we made our way home, there's some key spots I want to work out for this year's trip. We will definitely be using the Mt. Vernon GameStop as our last meeting ground, since we easily conquered it last year.

Seven months to go, this should be awesome.

There should be a Canada vs US tournament type thing.

Or maybe that's a stupid idea.

    Go Team Canada!

I have to skip supertrip this year, because I'll be in Hawaii until late thursday night for my cousins wedding, but then I'll be flying to seatac.

The selection is totally random; international pre-registrants are considered as well.

I'm not 100% sure I'll partake this year, it wasn't terribly successful for me last year. I managed to make it to the Mt. Vernon gamestop albeit an hour late due to the border waits at the ferry. Turned out mostly everyone else was late too so that wasn't a huge issue but it felt like a time pressure at the time. Anyways, we left the gamestop awhile later and the person I was following pretty much ran a yellow light at the first intersection and we never saw anyone from the supertrip again. :(

And that is why the CCST makes all of their stops at truck stops immediately off the highway. No yellow lights to run or traffic to get in the way (and when it does get in the way, we squeeze it out).

That place rules...I got my copy of Rock Band there in Nov. When I called them on the phone from Bellingham, they had one that hadn't been picked up and I asked if they could hold it while I drove down. He said that it was first come first serve unfortunately, and when I asked for directions I was like "Wait, are you the one by the Costco next to Taco Del Mar? I was there last year on the way to the Penny Arcade Expo!"

Anyway, he told some other guy who was there when I arrived that he didn't have any copies for sale and then gave me the copy. Woot.

Driving down last year was fun, but it wasn't exactly...a convoy. As was mentioned, didn't really see anyone except at that Gamestop. Also, running late kinda screwed up going to the Pre-PAX movie (although we got kicked out 10 mins after I got there anyway :P). Need more time for the border since that totally held us up last year.

Also, I have to refrain from locking my keys in the van this year

Mount Vernon is crazy, it has three Gamestops and two are within a block of eachother and the other one is in the Mall. Then a Gamecrazy across from the Mall. :D Oh and why their is two within a block of eachother is because one was a EB Games and that is the one by the Taco place. Then the BestBuy across the street next to the other Gamestop with a brand new giant outside mall. Atleast their is a lot of places to get copies of games that are hard to find. Plus an army of super stores like Wall Mart, Target and K-Mart if the game stores don't have the rare game.

Well really, it's not Mount Vernon, it's Burlington. They made the new outside mall because Mount Vernon taxes were to high. The river is the border of Mount Vernon and Burlington which is south 1/2 a exit. Both of the cities are basiclly merged because they are so big with giant stores right next to the river.

So I probably shouldn't be asking this in this thread but how exactly does the Canadian Super Trip work? Like is it a straight 14 hour drive from Edmonton to Seattle? With the stops to wait for people and meet up with everybody?

My group of 4 were going to drive from Edmonton to Kamloops and stay overnight and then leave for Seattle Friday morning...

The Canadian Supertrip, in the same fashion as the Cross-Country Supertrip and West Coast Train Trip, arrives on Thursday, because Thursday is when all the Pre-PAX (or Day 0, if you will) action happens.

I simply wonder when they'll increase the number of participants chosen.

An Omegathon starting with 50-100 people would be epic. :P

It would also take a lot longer. And Omeganauts have so little time already. Maybe if PAX was 4 days it would be feasible.

I agree that Omeganauts have very little time. Being with LordThanda who was an Omeganaut last year, basically took over PAX. I think I spent one hour in the expo hall, went to like 3 panels and the rest was Omegathon.

But if you think about it 50 people would just be 14 Rounds using the old system of 4 people out a round... But if you cut the field in half each round, you could get 64 starting people and be over in 6 rounds.

Except those first 2 rounds would be ungodly long

Not necessarily. Setup a couple free-for-all FPS games or something and take the top-half from each.

I made the mistake of turning onto Best Rd, a few Km past the bridge so I totally missed the Mt Vernon meetup.

I love how this turned into a Thread for the Canadian Super Trip =P I will have to join it one year rather then flying down to PAX.
