Yay product placement. I don't care for it in other movies, why should I like it any better in that one?

Because then you'll see where Brawndo came from.

So do they have to go back and pay them for the product placement now? :)

Both are produced by 20th Century Fox. From a design perspective, I love how this product is being marketed. It's hitting all the right audiences and the whole concept comes across brilliantly. Bonus points for hiring the PowerThirst guys.

Ah, okay, I was wondering who was making it. But yeah, when I first saw it mentioned a few months ago, all I could think was "genius!"

Course, I'm gonna be less pleased if the crotch shot channel shows up on my TV...

I don't know if I'm pleased with its existence as a product.

On one hand, I guess one could argue that it's funny because it came from a pretty hilarious movie.

On the other hand, if they're marketing it as an actual product... what do they think of us as consumers? Is the joke on us? ;)

I *refuse* to believe they made a drink out of that. That's disgusting.

I could maybe see it as a fringe product for masochists and sadists. Is it a horrible prank gone wrong?

Big Red soda is nothing like Big Red gum. If when you guys are in the area you go into a QFC you can find Big Red soda. It's nothing special. I think it's artificial cherry or something. Don't really remember.

Knowledge of this, like all things, can be found on wikipedia:
    Wikipedia wrote:
Its unique taste, though often thought to be bubble gum is created by mixing orange and lemon oils with the traditional vanilla used in other cream sodas.

I've never had this particular brand, but I've had other brands of "red cream soda"... wasn't a fan at the time. Tasted very artificial.

If Wikipedia's right... Yuck. I guess I'll have to try one though... because if turtle's right and it's merely Cherry flavored, I might actually enjoy it. =)

Someone briefly mentioned these Mana Potion drinks some pages back:

    http://www.thinkgeek.com/caffeine/drinks/a273/
    http://www.manapotions.com/

I'm going to have to order some before PAX, see if they'd be worth bringing along. Caffeine the equivalent of 4 cups of coffee and 6667% of the RDA for vitamin B12 alone? Damn. Has to be good after a night of heavy drinking if nothing else.

I wonder how they taste. Bleh too much caffeine for me. All I need is a can of barqs soda/Coke/pepsi and I'm set for caffination.

Unfortunately Barq's is now making a caffeine-free version (mostly for schools) that looks exactly like the regular stuff, but in size 8 red print above the nutrition info it says "no caffeine." This made me sadface.

I loved Big Red soda as a kid. It was primarily found back East; when we moved to ID in 92-93, it was nowhere to be found. It's definitely a hard taste to describe. Red cream soda is close, but with more kick -not as creamy I guess. And the gum and soda taste NOTHING alike.

If you like Big Red gum but find it burns a bit much, try Stride's new 'Sweet Cinnamon' flavor.

In Bawls news, I found a 7-11 up here that carries it in bottle and can form for around $2.

I know that 7-11 and Chevron in the Lower Mainland of BC can order it from their distributor, Wallace and Carey. If you've got one of those near you who doesn't sell Bawls, see if they have that shitty No Fear energy drink. Then see if you can talk the manager into replacing one terrible product with one that you will guarantee sales of. I'm trying to get the Chevron down the road to start carrying it, now that it's not on the approved list for Shell.
