Putting a short DVD on CD?

First off, this isn't a commercial or copyrighted DVD. I've got a 6 minute video that is about 400mb. The person that needs to view it does not have a DVD drive in her computer. Is there a way that I can copy it to a CD-R without converting it? I tried using Nero and creating a data disc with all of the content and watching it in VLC (using "open directory"). While it did work it seemed to be struggling. Is the CD format just not fast enough to move the amount of data that DVD requires?

Thanks!

I just got a 3DS XL. Add me! 2879-0925-7162

You said it worked but was struggling. Was that reading from the CD? Try copying it to the hard drive; it's a good amount of data so it's not surprising that the CD drive was choking.

There are two alternatives, one of which is pretty similar. You can create an image file, probably also using Nero, then burn that onto CD, copy it on to her computer, and then open the image and view it in DVD player software. You can also rip the video as an .avi file using any of the numerous "rip DVDs to video" programs available for Windows.
