The artist in me is tempted to pay the $79.99 and preorder the WAR CE just to get the art book...and I'm not even looking forward to the game that much.
Between WoW and LOTRO coming out with expansions this fall, I'll be too busy (and poor) to start playing a third MMO. Not to mention Champions Online coming next year. Gah...too much to play.

how do you figure 9 months? I heard it was pushed back to fall so giving it a 6 month delay. besides a delay is a good thing for MMOs and since this is only the second? mabye third push back I am 100% ok with it.

We had a possible June date (end of Q2), now we've probably got a Fall date (Q4).
Fall officially starts at the end of Sept and ends at the end of Dec.
So it's June to Oct - 4 months.
Or June to Nov - 5 months.
Or June to Dec - 6 months.
I imagine they are saying "Fall" because they don't want to commit to a month. If things go well, we'll see October. If things don't quite go so well, we'll see an Xmas Release.
The September date is completely made up by Gamestop. Mythic has put out no concrete date.

Well I can tell you why I'm not crying my eyes out and proclaiming cruel injustice:
It's a game, a source of entertainment, and not one I require. It'll come out when it comes out, and as long as it's fun I frankly don't care when that is. I've got stuff to do till then and well after. :P
To be quite frank, I think it's the countless months of waiting on guild beta that makes us go 'meh' on a release date change. Seriously, I'm just glad i can point to a part of the calendar and go, 'it should be released somewhere in here'.
As apposed to guild beta where I just shake my magic 8 ball and ask 'does it start tomorrow?'. All that's gotten me is a sore wrist, a blue stain on my wall, and one less magic 8 ball.
Woo, today got both of my preorders for WAR (missus would kill me if I didn't get her one too) converted to the CE. Now the long wait to October 16th begins.
On the day we signed the agreement to license Warhammer from Games Workshop, I promised them that we would create a great and glorious game, a truly next-generation MMORPG. Today, I have news to report; we are going to delay the release of WAR until Fall 2008. While we do not expect this announcement to be met with fanfare and cheering crowds; the additional time will be spent hammering WAR into an even better game that it is today.
During the most recent phase of beta testing, two things have become clear. One was that our key innovations - Public Quests, Tome of Knowledge and Realm vs. Realm combat - were all coming along extremely well, as was the first stage of our innovative crafting system. The second, that the game would benefit from additional iteration time as well as adding a layer of polish or two. Fortunately, as part of Electronic Arts, we are able to do just that.
While I have no doubt that the community will experience a wide range of emotions over this decision, I urge you to remember one thing (and to keep the tar cold and the feathers on the birds), that our goal has never been to release a game by a certain date but to release a great Warhammer MMORPG. We have not wavered from this goal and with the full support of Games Workshop, GOA and Electronic Arts we intend to release a glorious next-generation MMORPG.
As always, I thank the community for its support, patronage and its patience.
On the up side, they do appear to be using that time to polish things up a good bit. This image of a Marauder strikes me as a marked improvement in graphics, or at least character model quality.

You don't know how bitter those words read when you're holding onto a $50 amazon gift cert and had nothing to use it on, and already preordered from EA.
Pre-ordered at my local GS, but they were out of the code slips. However, you can take the receipt for preorders to other stores and they will hand you one.

What am I missing? I don't get the 16th out of that at all. It could be anytime September through November and still be "fall".
I don't think we'll get the codes until a few weeks/months before it gets released. But to answer your question, no I haven't gotten any codes yet.

Yeah for Amazon all you do is hover over the 'my lists' thingy in the upper right of the main page. Then go to 'media library' and from there there click the 'download' tab. That should have all your keys and things there.

And seriously, the game was first announced in like 2002. Waiting an extra three months or so (June to Sept/Oct) is not a big deal.
