I think my friends and I would be interested in this. I was asking about a trading system yesterday in the pub crawl thread. I glanced over the thread for the microbrew trading for last year's PAX and thought I'd like to get into it this year. I'm not too sure what to expect with this, though. I guess I'll list some microbrews off the top of my head from around Vancouver, British Columbia:
I did not attend Sealab last year, as I was not of age,
but I did trade cookies for wine.
So, everyone and anyone can be interested in the alcohol exchange.
I know I am. Not sure what I can bring, but I'm here.

Well, if you roll with the CCST, you can pick up some liquor on the cheap in North Dakota.
Oooo!
We've got Kentucky, Moe. Which equals cheap alcohol and cheap cigarettes. I knew that state was good for something.

From the looks of it, North Dakota and Kentucky's liquor laws are very similar. It looks like the liquor is cheaper in Kentucky, but the beer and wine is cheaper in North Dakota, but by a very small margin.
If anyone making the long trek from NY, VT, or the surrounding area is willing to trade, I've had a hankering for some Magic Hat ever since I moved away. However, I'm woefully unfamiliar with the brews in my area. Highfire, I'm only a bit north of you (we're both getting on the train at San Jose), do you know of anything good in the penninsula/SF area?

You can, but there are restrictions on how much you can bring (and possibly other restrictions I don't know about). You should check on that before August.

I think I'm gonna grab some Great Lakes Brewing Co. (Dortmunder Gold, Blackout Stout or Burning River) and some Rocky River Brewing Co. beer. My sister works for the RR Brewing company and on Christmas in 06 she had gallon jugs of beer, so I might get one of those.

Out here in bumblefuck Michigan where I live we have a rather good brewery that specializes in darker beers. It's called Dark Horse Brewing Company. The link takes you to their Beer Advocate page with the beers they have. If any of them sound interesting, let me know and I'll bring some.
Another brewer that's somewhat local and worth mentioning is Bell's in Kalamazoo, MI. Oberon is their signature beer that comes out in the summer time.
I have a question, where is the closest liquor store from the sheraton? Also, what are the laws on transporting liquor on airplanes if anyone knows? I want to bring a couple of bottle of absinthe with me.

I believe there's a liquor store about a half-mile from the convention center/hotel area. I don't know anything about airline alcohol transport regulations though because I never fly.
edit: You should know, liquor prices in Washington are comparable to those here in Ohio, maybe up to four or five dollars more in some cases. It is also worth noting that the liquor stores in Washington only sell liquor. No beer, wine, cups, mixers, beef jerky or cigarettes.
I was going to but it's not feasible to ride a motorcycle that far, expecially through a storm.

Well, you would probably want to opt for a car on a trip like this. Also, we only ran into that one storm last year, and had completely clear weather the year before.

We had freakishly clear weather the first year.... which made the cars like mini hot boxes.
Um... for flying, the TSA has a list for food and beverage here.
And to quote their page about the good stuff:
"With the exception of medications, any amount of liquid including alcohol greater than three ounces must be packed in your checked baggage.
Liquids, including alcohol purchased after clearing the security checkpoint are permitted aboard aircraft.
Carrying Alcohol In Your Checked Baggage
Please note, you can’t take alcoholic beverages with more than 70% alcohol content (140 proof), including 95% grain alcohol and 150 proof rum, in your checked luggage.
You may take up to five liters of alcohol with alcohol content between 24% and 70% per person as checked luggage if it’s packaged in a sealable bottle or flask.
Alcoholic beverages with less than 24% alcohol content are not subject to hazardous materials regulations."

...I was not planning to check anything... What do you think they would say to a checked bag filled with only booze?
Moe is slightly wrong about one thing though. The liquor stores here do carry some beer and wine, but I doubt you're going to find anything you wouldn't find at a supermarket (I wouldn't know since I only drink liquor). The liquor store I liked to above closes at 6, and any others you find close at 10 at the latest. Beer and wine are available at the usual places, but sales aren't permitted from 2AM-7AM (not sure about the end time).
Oh man, I didn't realize I had such easy access to Rogue... I'll have to hit that up next weekend. I did get to SF brewing though, which I was pleased with. Good variety, plenty of reasons to go back. Thanks for the tips.

Yeah, I didn't know until I looked at what they had. That they sell and make a brew for Kells.
I'd be willing to bring Shiner Bock or Ziegen Bock from the good ol' state of Texas, if anyone wants some.
Shiner recently came out with a black lager, that I think has the taste of Guiness, but fills you up a lot slower.
I'll more than likely have liquor as well, but that will be served on a cup by cup basis....and you should be warned, there will be some irish car bombing on at least one night.
I see liquor thread, therefore my interest is piqued. Captain and root beer is a house favorite where I'm at. Worth checking out for those of you who like root beer. It tastes like A&W on tap.
I don't know if all South Pacific airports have the same kinds of Duty Free liquor, or if this would even be .... But, if anyone coming from Australia could bring me a bottle (or two) of Fiji Bounty dark Rum, I will pay you/love you forever/trade you booze/etc!!!!
Hey, are there any Brits showing up that could be possibly be bribed? Please PM me with your rates. I'd really like to get my mitts on some Spitfire Ale.
Posts
This is more of an open source, then it is for Sealab.
Edit- Beside, people are already asking if anyone want to swap different brews. I'm just giving them the thread.
Granville Island
Bowen Island Brewing
Lighthouse Brewing
Tree Brewing
There's plenty more so I'll post them after I a little "research."
but I did trade cookies for wine.

Well, I hear that San Francisco Brewing Co. is good. So is Speakeasy.
But I also have a list, in case you or anyone else want to find something else.
Edit- Forgot all about Rogue.

Of course, if you were to drive with the CCST, you could pick up liquor in North Dakota, where it's about 30% cheaper than either state.

Closest liquor store to the WSTCC
