Strep Throat

So I have strep throat. White pustules on the back of my bright red esophagus, can't swallow, all that noise. Anyone have any home remedies that will make it go away faster or at least sooth some pain?

Go to the doctor and get some jabba fucking painkillers before you do anything else. Take them, and then when you can eat, eat like a horse because the pain will be back soon. Eat ice cream because the cold numbs your throat. Drink hella water.

Just go to the doctor and get the proper antibiotics. Leaving it untreated can cause other complications.

Aye, decisively. If you know/suspect you have strep, SEE A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY. If untreated with antibiotics, Strep can spread to vital organs such as the lungs and heart, damaging said organs or causing death in cases that go untreated even after *that* point.

I know it's a common disease. But don't fuck with it just because it's common. If unchecked, or treated with home remedies/homeopathy/other voodoo that hides symptoms instead of actually treating the problem, two things could happen:

    1) You could have a very strong immune system, and paired with luck and rest it could fight off the strep before irrepairable damage is caused.
    2) You could have a normal human immune system, which would fight off Strep: but not before permanent damage is caused to internal organs in the vicinity. Note that this is probably a very bad thing, as your current organs are likely the only ones you'll ever have.
    3) You could have a weak immune system (due to stress or a variety of other factors), and if untreated the Strep could spread rather than be fought off. Permanent organ damage and death could result.

Don't take a chance, Vitium. Go see a doctor, get some antibiotics, and take the full dosage (Do not ever only take the partial dosage because you're "feeling better." Finish it). See a doctor, even if you don't have health insurance. This is a financial bullet worth biting... and there are government programs that can help you to pay if you need it.

About 75% of "Strep Throat" is actually Viral in origin, so when you see a doctor and they may not give you antibiotics don't worry, if they do it will probably be a 2 to 4 times daily antibiotic that you can expect to take for 7-10 days, if you are given antibiotics most people feel better in 2-3 days (comparitively, maybe a week or so to get right back up to full steam). Supportive measures are many. Cool soft food like Ice Cream or Jello are often easier to swallow during the time of inflammation. Mixing a couple teasppons of salt into a glass of warm water then swish and spit that saline solution you just made is quite helpfull as well, it can be quite soothing on the throat and will wash some of the junk out of there. Rarely does "strep troat" come with nausea, but if people have it some ginger ale is always good for it (it is a lot more redally available for most people).

Ibuprophen or Acetamenophen (Motrin or Tylenol) can help, don't use them if there is a reason not to (doctor or pharmacist suggests that it wouldn't be good for you, (some people have allergies or it can affect other meds). If you need good pain relief consider taking the tylenol then waiting 3-4 hours then take the motrin, by alternating the products a good pain level can be achieved. (this helps prevent the analgeia from wearing off, really alternating is great). Never take more tylenol or motrin then reccomended on the box.

Seriously though if you think you have strep throat it is best to ry and se your doctor within an week of the onset.
