The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Well that was stressful. But 30 minutes of excruciating slow page loading and I've got an adjacent hotel reservation. The only downer is that the first year I decide to actually go the writer's strike kills pretty much any upcoming tv/movie type stuff. But I'm sure there's plenty of comicsy goodness to make it not seem like a terrible loss.
I kept redialing the phone number while slowly moving through the online process and never got anything other than a busy signal. Moving from one page to the next took about 7-10 minutes per page.
I'll probably be heading over there this year with my dad. It does the old man good to see that there is a whole convention center full of people who are even worse with social interaction than he is.

i know that this is about SDCC, but is anyone going to Wizard World Chicago?
Chuck Dixon is gonna be there and i want my stuff signed
I'm going to New York Comic Con. I have never been to a convention before and I'm wondering if anyone has, like, tips and things. You know, so I get the most out of the events and such.
i would advise picking one or two things at most if you want someone to sign something. nothing bugs me more than when i'm behind someone lin line for a signing and they plunk down an entire run of something for a creator to sign and i've just got like one trade. takes up fucking forever. i couldn't say for certain, but it seems pretty reasonable to me to assume that creators probably hate that too.
edit- and if you really wanted to have fun, i would recommend stealing grant morrison, wrapping him in a blanket, and then mailing him to me

The Lovely Bastard is going to New York Comic-Con, you could hook up with him
there's so many people going that people like mike carey, eric powell, sean phillips, and edwardo risso don't even get their own little bios on the website.
Anybody been to Heroscon in North Carolina? I plan on going just to meet Matt Fraction(and other people too) but I've never been to a con outside my state.
Am I going to be able to touch Grant Morrison? Can I bring The Filth for him to sign? (In addition to my penis?) How far in advance should I arrive for each panel or whatever? Can I bring a bag? Will my feetsies hurt?
True Story: At WonderCon this year. I literally ran into Didio, he was talking to someone as I was walking by the DC booth (after talking to Bagley) and he stepped right out into and I *BLAM* right into him. It was a little awkward.
We're only a couple of weeks away from SDCC. Anyone up for a PA-SDCC meet up? I know the passed few years that I've gone we've gotten together for dinner at least once.
I don't even know if I'm going yet. My press access got rejected, which is odd, because it's the same one I've used for the last 2 years. My wife is going as industry, and may be able to swing one more pass, but I haven't asked her about it in the last few weeks.
