In general it's a good idea to bring some sort of reference picture as not everyone will know what Venom looks like off the top of their head.

Will do. I will print out a collage of him here at the hotel. And these count as sketches, right (not commissions)? Also, what are usual commissions (I would want one from Gabe if I could, but who knows)?

Yea, I don't have anything planned for preview night besides maybe seeing the Fringe panel. On preview night I plan to get some sketches hopefully. We just got back from walking around in downtown. I found an art store and Gamestop on googlemaps. The art store was Blick Art Materials. I love that store. It has so much art stuff I could cry. I got myself a sketchbook for some artists (and picked one up for myself).

Anyone going to any clubs this week? My friend wants to go out tonight but we have no clue where to go.

]I'm a comic-con virgin this year, and I need to know how the hell am I going to get from the Lost panel(ending at 1:00 in Hall H) to the Dollhouse panel(starting at 1, in Ballroom 20) in 0 seconds or less, without waiting in lines. It would be inhumanely cruel to make someone to decide between the two.

I don't want to be the guy who shits on any panels, but the Lost one is always a disappointment. They will have a question and answers portion, but they won't answer any questions unless it has to do with something that was completely resolved a few seasons ago. The rest of the time they will encourage you to buy the dvds (which they will be whoring off nonstop) and telling you to watch the show if you want answers.

It's kind of a bitch because they know the show isn't in danger of being cancelled unless something like the writer's strike happens again

Also FYI they wont be showing much in the way of footage from Dollhouse.
They're shooting a new pilot and the new pilot will be the 2nd episode. Joss posted that because they're working on that they wont be able to produce much to show at the show. But him, her, and the dude from BSG will be there.

yeah, I heard 'bout that. Still ... it's Joss Whedon! I'm kind of a fanboy, and by kind of I mean a stark-raving mad fanboy. At the very least, it'll be an entertaining panel. Everything at the Lost panel will be on the internet anyways.

Alsol, I'm really hate whoever decided the panel schedule. PA vs 24? Batman vs Dr Horrible? Geoff Johns vs Marvel? This is like really really awesome torture.

I figure I would just do the PA panel. I didn't watch all the 24 episodes from the last season they had, so I am meh about it.

Hard Rock Cafe was awesome tonight. It needed some PA folks though. I can't wait for tomorrow. Comic-Con! Woo!

edit: I looked and couldn't find their names anywhere. Are any of these guys going to be at SDCC?

Their booth number is 4319, there's a panel about the game's art on Friday (12:30-1:30, their press release didn't specify the room), and there's a press event tonight.

I am pretty sure Gabe was pissed I requested a Venom drawing, as you will see by his attempt at it later when I post it. Andrew Bell actually did a great job with it, making his Venom look like one of his own creatures. I will post pics some other time. I have a pounding headache right now.

Yes, Venom. I have always liked him. I am a tool like that. Haha. And yes, I am hoping to get a sketchbook filled with some Venoms. Anyway, here are the sketches.

    First, Gabe and the sadness:
    DSC04294-1.jpg

Next, the awesomeness of Andrew Bell:
    DSC04295.jpg

I really thought Gabe would do a PA style Venom. I guess since it wasn't a character he really isn't used to drawing he hurried it up. I plan on asking the guy who does Mr. Toast to do a Venom sketch. Maybe I will mention he could just make a Mr. Toast Venom heh.

Bell's version of Venom is adorable. It's like what I'd imagine the symbiote would be if it didn't need a host to survive

Understatement of the year. My view of him and Tycho have switched. I used to favor Gabe, but soley on his comic version. I actually had a funny little encounter with Tycho at the booth. Oh well.

I really like most of Bell's work.

Spider-Man was the stuff I liked growing up and I was a sucker for Venom. I mainly watched the animated TV show in the 90s and got some comics here and there back in the day. I was never into the Avengers or Green Lantern or any of that. I figure I will go back sometime before the end of the Con and get a regular ol Penny Arcade character sketch. Of who, I don't know.

Anyway, anyone else get the Lego Batman stuff? I am pretty sure it took us over an hour to play at three different Lego Batman stations to collect our Lego Joker pieces. While I appreciate them giving us the Joker and Batman Legos, I thought the holding case would like a stand with a clear case around it. Still fun to get though.

I also picked up the fifth PA book and got it signed. Surprisingly that is all the shwag I got. We plan on going to the Spore panel tomorrow morning. Anyone know is Will Wright will be at the Spore booth at all?

Is that sarcasm or the truth? Ha.

    OK, tomorrow is officially planned.

1130-1230 Spore Panel (hopefully shit signed by Will Wright)
    2 hour break
    230-330 Dumbrella Panel
3-7 Michael Hollcik (Niko Belik voiceactor, GTA4, sign my box cover)
extra time - buy shit and get free stuff
    8-9 Punisher/Saw 5 Panels
    9-12 Kung Fu Extravaganza

Also, where is a good place to go to get good prices on trades? I want to pick up some Ultimate Spider-Man trades.
