So I'm trying to catch up to where SimBen is in the videos for maximum enjoyment, and I'm at beyond the ruins. I remember having this problem before on like my second playthrough of this game, but I can't remember how I got around it. The fucking X&Y+A thing does not work at all. I even left and talked to the rat again and did it, but the stupid path just won't open. Does anyone else have this problem? I haven't played this game in years but I'm pretty sure this isn't the first time this has happened to me.

Not to suggest that you might be using some... illicit means to play this or anything, but keyboards don't usually like 3 buttons being pressed at once unless one of them is a modifier. :P

I just wanted to say that I never played Chrono Trigger cuz back in the snes days I was still a bit too young to enjoy RPGs enough to sit through (what I thought at the time was) too much talking and boring fighting (oh how wrong I was). This LP has successfully shown me just why chrono trigger is supposed to be so great. Whatre the odds of this ever showing up on the Virtual Console? I suppose I'll start looking around for the PSX version.

Basically, you got Squaresoft, Enix (because of Yuji Horii's involvement), Monolith Soft (most of the CT team moved on there) and, on the fringe, Nintendo. But Square and Enix are now together, and Monolith now belongs to Nintendo... so yeah. :P
Besides, Square didn't ask anyone before re-releasing it on PSX in 2001. The only thing that's preventing a VC release/DS remake is pure spite. Also, I think Squeenix just doesn't like money.
btw, tonight's vid might arrive a bit later than I'd hoped, because I unexpectedly had to babysit my sister's boyfriend (read: play Smash with him for two hours while my sister was having girl-talk with my mom). But since there's a student strike at my school tomorrow, I don't have to worry about going to bed early.

CEGEP is awesome. It basically eases you into college by being about perfectly midway between it and high school in every possible way. Also, you can get into a bunch of professionnal fields that aren't TOO top-of-the-line complicated (say, mechanics or nursery or child care) for very cheap. And you can always choose to go to university later on to pursue further studies in your field if you really get into it.
The only downside, really, is all the assholes that pretend to "care" about their education and constantly go on strike to get more funding and reduced fees from the government, which is a lost cause anyway. Under a pretense of democracy, the student union acts more like a police state by doing everything they can to prevent the anti-strikers from even attending the meetings or voting. Sometimes they'll get together and beat up some of the more outspoken proponents of the "yeah but I'm on my last semester and I'd really like to just get my degree without all that bullshit" camp. It's like Kenyan democracy, so to speak. Only it's even dumber because the VAST majority of the pro-strikes just want a day off from school.
Oh, and also they occupy and wreck the school and then cry fascism when the police shows up and arrests them. And refuse to pay the bill for the repairs. Stupid stupid stupid.
As for my sister's date, well they HAVE been going out for a while and the guy is pretty much an accepted member of the family... it's just that my sister basically said "I'm gonna watch a chick flick with mom, you go play videogames with SimBen".

I do remember that they made a semi-big deal out of it being developed for the GameCube as well as PC, and how they'd send copies to developers that could only be played on GC dev kits... that's probably the part that got Square's attention.

I beat it in 16 hours about a week ago. It wasn't in one day (Are you crazy?), but it only took about three days of playing on and off.
19 hours on my save. It was a long weekend, and I had nothing better to do.
