Well I'd suggest waiting for reviews to see how it plays, how good a job they did of keeping things consistent across the different versions. Personally though, I would be surprised if all the cool features made it through intact.

Even if it's not quite as advanced as the other versions, if there's fun to be had in the Wii version (and if they bulk up the graphics at least a LITTLE bit by the time of release, which I'm sure they will), then I'd be happy to add it to my collection. I just wish more info was available on it.

Holy shit that trailer makes this a day one purchase for me.
I loved the FUCK out of Alone in the Dark, I was pretty young when I played through it, but I really liked the seemingly open way they let you deal with enemies/puzzles in the original, and how everything was tougher than you (some enemies were completely immortal) it was also one of the first games I finished. The first alone in the dark is the ONLY horror game that has ever made me feel scared while playing. It's setting was THAT well done in my opinion.
If this game can replicate ANY of that with these graphics, I'm fucking sooo in.
P.S.
I never played any of the sequels, which ones were good, which ones were bad? Why did everyone hate the last one?
P.P.S.
I didn't see the movie, but wasn't it just like, 5 people with guns fighting zombies? That's what the trailer made it look like, and I was like, "Alone in the dark?"
I don't care how boring it would get, I would pay top dollar for a game that just puts you in a city with zombies and made you survive any way possible for a certain period of time. You could barricade yourself up, but you'd also need to stockpile food, weapons and such, making supply runs, and occasionally running across another batch of survivors. That's it. That's the whole game. A sandbox zombie survival game with no real mission except survive.
But I'd be the only person who'd buy it, so they'd make it so the main character was an ex-special forces commando with a satcom navlink to a foxy government agent sending you in to defeat a corrupt dictator who's unleashed a zombie army.
You just described Dead Rising, but replace city with mall and ex-specop with photo journalist.
I'm so so glad they're bringing back AitD though, great series, 4th installment kind of killed the series, or so people thought.
No, by the end of the game you're pulling out kungfu moves and ripping peoples' guts out with your bare hands. The game also forces structure on you, to the point where your concentrating more on arbitrary goals like rescuing survivors or being in a certain place at a certain time instead of just surviving. It's not a zombie survival game, it's a series of timed events that happen to have zombies in your way to accomplishing them. The problem with a game costing 60 dollars is the designers have to cram in 60 dollars worth of gameplay, when all I want is something very simple and freeform to play around with. Anyway, I'm digressing.
Why are they even bothering with this on the Wii? There's gotta be a point where people realize "you know what, this system is great for a lot of things, but not for the game we're trying to make"

Whenever I go back and play Resident Evil 4, I'm reminded that 1) every developer is lazy as shit on the Wii and 2) we still haven't gotten a game that good-looking for the system, despite the increase in power.
These silly cash ins are actually starting to make me angry.
It looks very impressive. Definitely the best example of proper fire physics in a game thus far. Man, the whole game has so much potential, but they actually have to make use of all these real-world dynamics they're continually demonstrating. I hope they can live up the hype that they've built, 'cause it won't matter if the game engine doesn't correspond well with the level and puzzle design. I'd hate for the game to feature a bunch of cool stuff like this in the beginning, and then forget about them halfway through.

All creature will die and all the things will be broken. That's the law of samurai.
Yeah, I can't see any way it can live up to the hype and expectation that they're trying to build up for the game. For one, it's Atari. That right there should be setting off alarm bells.
Okay, I was curious about how the Wii version would look. I totally skimmed past that picture thinking it was a comparison shot of the last Playstation game versus the new game and then I thought "I don't recall being able to pick up chairs..."
God damn is that disappointing if that's what the B-Team is pumping out.
Finally acquired a 360, so now I can play this game the way it was meant to be, in all its glory.
Does anyone happen to have a ghost of an idea who does the epic music in the trailers (or even the name of the composition)? Many thanks to whomever unearths this for me.

I'm more confident in the Wii version now that I know it's being done by the same folks that did the two Obscure games. Those games are pretty fun, so it could be cool.

For those of you bitching about the Wii version I googled it and got this as the first result; http://www.cubed3.com/news/9920
Wii footage begins about 2 minutes in, it's a bit hard to make out but take it as you will.
Anyone out there want to write a review of this game for my blog, and in return get a free copy of the game?
Criteria -
You have to live in the USA
You have to respond quickly
You have to have acess to a PS3, 360 and Wii (I am not sure which version I can get hold of a review copy of you see)
so I figure I should actually reply in the thread - I have all 3 consoles, live in the USA, and assuming I can't review Burst Limit, I'd be willing to review Alone in the Dark.

Shoot. No PS3 so I guess I'm disqualified. Would have loved to give the game a try since I'm a connosieur of horror games and would otherwise not pick this game up until it hits the bargain bins.

I have all 3 and am getting the game, but just too busy for a review.

I saw that one that showed off the next-gen duct tape technology, and the jacket inventory system. So I guess you play as Red Green in this one.

The more recent footage of the Wii version looked an awful lot better.
Also, any word on the music?

Some french site.
They're using the wiimote and nunchuck to represent the two hands, which looks like it would work fairly well.

I already have a review written out. That is how efficient I am.
I'll be picking someone shortly, so hurry up and post if you are interested.
However; I am leaving for Italy next Thursday for two weeks, but if that doesn't disqualify me count me in!
PM me your address and console of preference.
Hey, I have a blog! (Actually being updated again!)
