since playing the game skate I have had the overwhelming wanting of learning how to nollie heelflip, so yeah. other then that me and a couple o' buddies are trying to get a skatepark built in our county, so if any of you all could help me brainstorm ideas of what we can do to get donations that'd be quite helpfull.
well, we're trying to get some land that's a basketball court that no one uses anymore, and it's right next to the community center which makes it easier to get. the problem is repaving the area so we have actual terrian to skate on. There are a couple of neihboring cities that have skate shops like freestyle. the city also has a local skateshop called black cat so i've so sources to put some flyers up.
Word of warning, if you're trying to get the city to put up money for constructing obstacles (quarter pipes, ramps and the like) they'll look for comparative quotes from more than one place. Make sure that if you can talk them into that, they're using companies that are actually experienced in that kind of work. It's not unknown for reputable, experienced firms to be undercut by local joinery contractors who have no idea what's actually required for usable obstacles, so you'll end up with a useless skatepark.
When that happens, the city sees that nobody uses it, and it's ten times more difficult to obtain any kind of funding in the future.
I think your best course of action would be to contact the parks department in your area, and see if some sort of petition would make them take a serious look at it.
When I was younger a friend and I built a small half-pipe (6' tall and 12' or 16' wide) in his backyard. No insurance to deal with, no permits. You do have to be good at scrounging lumber, and you have to know what you're doing construction-wise. There was also a bigger half-pipe (at least 12' tall) that a community of skaters built out in the desert. Lasted for a few years before the city tore it down. Keep in mind this was all the 80's/early 90's, because I'm fucking old.
You have to be really skilled to build a concrete skate park, and you have to have a ton of money. Insurance is also a huge issue for cities and official organizations (like youth clubs and whatnot).

well my friend has a mini ramp, but we're not able to move it so thats useless. really all we want to do is get the foundation and build a ghetto ass sk8 park, like shit from wood. the only problem would be sealing it and keeping it from getting stolen
are there any teen/youth centers in your county? go talk to them. If they themselves don't have the funds to help you out they can help you get in contact with the people that do.
getting alot of signatures on a petition would help your cause too. so they recognize that there is a desire for it in the community. just kids saying that if it existed they would use it.

took out her barrettes and her hair spilled out like rootbeer
Another option is to go to the city with a proposal and get funds that way. Or get the city to donate some land and get volunteers to build it.

This site seems to have some useful resources.
