[spoiler:26869bac56]Then it probably is alive. But the scenes where the black stuff is creeping up his arm and swallowing him might be some kind of freaky dream sequence, sorta how originally in the comics he would dream of the two costumes coming to life and fighting over him.[/spoiler:26869bac56]

But that still leaves the question of how Brock would fit in to all of this. Maybe there's hope for a real Venom yet.

well the "black suit all in his head" thing would make sense if you look at the last scene of the trailer. He's upside down from a building looking at his reflection and sees his original costume, but is wearing the black one.

Though if it turns out to be a whole "innter-turmoil" thing, I'll be pissed...even if he does refer to is as "some sort of venom"

There was a scene like that in the cartoon's Venom saga. It was a dream sequence.

Oh, also: I've been hearing that the shot in the trailer of him looking at his reflection isn't in the movie. I think it was just there in the trailer to add emphasis to the duality theme. He definitely wears the black suit.

That was just what I imagined when I saw the scene of him tearing off the costume. After realizing something weird's going on, he tries to get rid of it by tearing it off only to realize that he can't.

Then he loses it when he hits the bell tower later.

I get the impression that the symbiote actually attaches itself to one of Parker's actual Spider-Man suits and becomes a part of it. So rather than it being a gooey interpretaion of one of the suits like in the comics it's more like a tar stained Spidey costume.

[spoiler:e860656e67]So when he's ripping it off in the belltower it comes away like a normal spandex spidey suit would.[/spoiler:e860656e67]

That doesent make sense, why would you show an un CGIed special effects scene in a trailer? Why would you even bother doing CGI to edit in something as mundane as a suit when its so much easier to just put the actor in a suit?

I dont reckon we're going to see the Goblin suit in this one, In the trailer I think Harry is just utilising his dads tech for whatever he's trying to do in the scene, that doesent neccisarilly mean hes going to go all out "I am the green goblin reborn" crazy in the movie.

Its more likely he tries to tackle Spider-Man as is but fails miserably. Spidey obviously doesn't land him in jail, so even more frustrated he goes away and takes the formula plus dons the costume fully.

Yeah but putting on the mask would mean becoming the green goblin for reals.

And its still up in the air what Harry's motivations are going to be in this film. Up until now he's been conflicted between being Peters friend and his dads son, the moment you show him in the mask its full confirmation that he's gone the batshit loco route.

Which means that maybe he doesent and he eventually comes through to help Peter against Venom or Sandman or whoever, or maybe he does but they dont want to put that reveal in the trailer.

Picked up the most recent issue of USM thinking it was just going to The Scorpion, but it's the Clone Saga.

I was pretty sure this was considered a stain on marvels history, and most people prefer to pretend it never happened, but looks like they are trying to bring it back.

In a way, his identity being revealed seems like an interesting idea and makes me want to pick up one of his books, but it seems like a shortsighted idea on the part of Peter and his editors. He could be sued by hundreds of people, not just JJJ, not to mention spend years in jail for who knows what. I know. It's an astonishing move.

[spoiler:a91d3b2d67]Peter's private life and his struggle to keep his identity a secret has been an important part of Spider-Man since the beginning, and they haven't left any kind of a loop-hole to undo this, no 'Whoops, just kidding!' way to make Spidey's identity a secret again. At least, not without getting a huge negative 'cop-out' reaction from everyone.

I just read through an issue where ol' Doc Ock catches the news conference, then rampages through the city to Peter's school and starts tearing the place up. Pete's students, having learned he's Spider-Man, rush to his defense and help distract Ock long enough for Spidey to take him down.

It's gonna be more of the same from now on. How long before some villain attacks the Daily Bugle, or target's Peter's family? This could be the catalyst for Peter's marriage to MJ breaking up, as everyone's been anticipating for a while. Not just because of the stress this will put on things, but because of an effort to keep MJ safe. This is something that will truly change the character forever. And not one of those bogus, organic-webbing style changes either.[/spoiler:a91d3b2d67]

As far as lawsuits go, I'm sure his new best friend Tony Stark will be willing to foot the bill, considering this is all his fault in the first place.

Clone Saga didnt suck. Did it go on too long? Yes. Was it the writers fault? No. Marvel fucked it up. It was gonna be over in like a year or two tops and it was one of Marvels BEST selling books, so they kept pushing the writers to keep it going and milk it more and more, forcing Alpha / Omega, AoA style Scarlet Spider books, bookline wide crossovers over and over and back peddling reveals over and over until there was no real way to get out of it for a long time. Even with all that, it was more enjoyable then the current JMS spider totem crap. Most of the people that hate the Clone Saga are people that havent even read it and just bash it to be "cool" on the internet and spout of the stuff others have said. So while I'll concede it definitely had its up and down moments, the Clone Saga was far from the worst stories in Spiderman's history.

The current Ultimate version is off to a decent start. However, it seems Scorpion is just a throw away character they basically wasted in a short fight sequence to shock us with his identity. It was a cool, sleak redesign of him too. I suppose he could stick around longer, but I can't see it happening. For anyone not up on USM, it seems to be SHIELD behind this as Miles Warren was forced to work for them after Hobgoblin arc (he was Harry's shrink) and is currently dating Aunt May. Of course, its not set in stone if it is him and he could be a red herring, but pretty damn convienent that hes dating May and clone saga starts up. Ben Reilly will probably be the Carnage in the preview covers, but just speculation on my part at this point.
