Here's a slight change in subject; Newsarama's has put up the alternate cover for Ultimate Spider-Man #100. Since it COULD be spoilerish, I'll be simply posting the link rather then posting the cover-pic here.

guys the kraven's last hunt hardcover comes out this month and I order you all to buy it because it's the best spider-man story ever
do it
Oh shit, I didn't even know this was coming! Good call!
This story's one of my all time favorites in the entire Marvel universe, plus, I have a severe soft spot for Mike Zeck's art.
consider my $19.99 spent. Can't wait to reread this. :^:
Yes, pointing out glaring mistakes where a human in peak physical condition manages to lay a beat down on a super human that can lift 15 tonnes, move and react 15 times faster then normal humans, has a spider sense that is border line precognitive now adays. Lets completely ignore how he lands a nerve punch numbing spideys lower body because his spidersense and super agility would not let him move even the slightest bit to avoid this nerve punch (Ill concede he might hit him, but no way in hell should he hit a nerve cluster which requires precise accuracy on someone with a spdier sense and super agility). Spidey has DODGED BULLETS. Ya, Cap punches faster then a speeding bullet.
But yes, I'm a fanboy because the FIGHT MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE.
Cap studied spidermans movements? He has no fighting style. He reacts to every single situation based on his spidersense. You cant study him. Its impossible to figure out what kind of movements. Hes not a kung fu master or drunken boxer or anything retarded.
He throws a shield at spiderman. Guess what would happen if this shield hit him? Nothing. He might get a slight bruise where it hit him. Cap is HUMAN. Not a super human. Hes peak human conditioning. Pete is wearing a liquid metal "Iron Spidey" suit and is super strong and durable. He can survive being put throw a building or an explosion or a punch from people like the Juggernaut and so on. A piece of metal thrown at relatively slow speeds will not have any lasting effect on him. Hell, his spider sense and super agility could easily allow him to catch the fucking thing.
And guess what every single freaking comic book fan is? A FANYBOY. Ya, amazing that such a niche market that a popular book sells about 100,000 units with a market population of over 300 million and Im guessing your a casual fan that doesnt have a fucking clue about anything that goes on in comics. Your a fanboy by the fact you post on a fucking comic forum. And based on your opinions, your a Cap fanboy at that.
I thought Captain America was a product of the super-soldier serum? Did they ret-con the serum out? (Please keep in mind that the last time I paid any attention to Captain America was during the late 80s.)

The serum doesn't give any super human powers it just makes makes the person who drinks it at peak human heath. He is the strongest a person could possibly be without being considered super-human.

Interesting. I never understood that distinction.
On another note, I've decided to start regular subscriptions through my local comic shop, and I'm trying to decide which Spider title(s) to select. Again, I have been out of the collecting thing for a long time. I was expecting to find at least Amazing Spider-Man and Spectacular Spider-Man, and one other book. However, I now see that there are the following: Amazing, Friendly-Neighborhood (which is at #11 right now), and Sensational (around #28). Amazing appears to be the only book that might have been around when I last followed Spidey regularly (right at the time when McFarlane made his huge splash with Spider-Man #1).
Which of these books (or, say, 2 out of 3) would be best for me to choose? (Don't talk to me about Ultimate Spidey, I'm not sure about this Ultimate universe thing yet.) Thanks.
If you do finally decide to start on Ultimate Spidey, start with the trades, they're fantastic.
I subscribe to all 3 of those titles, but lately it seems that Friendly Neighborhood is branching out into really odd stories. Amazing follows closely with the rest of the Marvel Universe, but FN and Sensational are usually just about Spidey. I've found Sensational better than FN because FN seems to be coming up with all these odd stories about parallel universes, and weird one-offs, whereas Sensational seems to have more classical Spidey tales.
So get Amazing for sure, but FN or Sensational may not be for you per se.
How does the art compare between Friendly and Sensational? Art is usually the dealbreaker for me in any comic. I'm leaning towards Friendly, because I usually prefer to get into a newer book.

I'm not really into the artwork in Sensational. It's just not my thing.
I do however, absolutely love the artwork in FN. It's Mike Wieringo, and he's easily one of the top ten artists in comics.
Thanks for the tips. I think I'll probably grab a couple back issues of each comic when I go to the shop today, just to get a feel for the art and stories.

They actually switched from Wieringo to Todd Nauck this issue.

[spoiler:1155133660]Flash Thompson: YOU AREN'T REALLY SPIDER-MAN, PARKER, I WILL PROVE IT TO YOU WITH DODGEBALLS
Pete: Man, do we really have to do this?
Flash throws a ball at Pete. He kicks the ball back into Flash's face, breaking his nose.[/spoiler:1155133660]
And Ultimate Spider-Man 98
[spoiler:1155133660]WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON[/spoiler:1155133660]
I have found the art to Sensational and Freindly to be ass. Freindly looks like a high schooler drew ever since The Other ended and Sensational gives Spidey about 500 to many muscles.
I'll agree with the Sensational art looking like crap, but I'll have to take issue in terms of Friendly. Wieringo is a really good feel for the style of the book, and Nauck's issue was definitely keeping in spirit with that.

Once Millar and Dodson left and it became Sensational it went downhill. I do, however, thank you for recommending FNSM, Geebs. I picked up #8-11 today, and I gotta say thanks.
Well, I got the issue of Sensational that takes place the day Peter outs himself. The one that follows his student Jordan. The art is amazing. Is that the normal art crew? Because if so, Sensational will become a regular.
I was less impressed with FNSM #11. The art seems to me to be fairly typical of today's popular style (mildly anime influenced with touches of McFarlane, Lee, Adams, and Simonson). Also, not being a die-hard Spidey follower, Mysterio reappearing (or possibly reappearing or whatever) doesn't do much for me. It just seems hokey is all.

The return of Mysterio is pretty interesting, given that he was last seen with a self-inflicted bullet wound (to the head) in the pages of Daredevil.
Concerning USM, I find it annoying that Bendis is such a fanboy that he has to insert
[spoiler:a8171fd102]spider-woman[/spoiler:a8171fd102] into all the titles he writes. Which is a lot of comics...
Posts
Agreed, I will still end up getting both of them because I'm a whore. Any thoughts on how they are gonna handle the clone saga un USM?
Not over a span of 10 years and draining any and all charm it had?
do it

Thats a fucking lie, Spider-Man:Blue is the best Spider-Man story ever.
Because then I'd post it.

Although Kraven's Last Hunt is a superb story.

is anyone shocked?

this guy just thinks that to win a fight all you need to be is STRONG ARRRGH

Second best.
"If This Be My Destiny" is probably the best Spidey story.
For me at least.
Interesting. I never understood that distinction.

I didn't like that first arc of Sensational, but that stand alone "Spider-Man Unmasked" issue was kickass.

yeah, that one

I would say "Awww shit" but holy fuck I love Todd Nauck. (Also, he likes Dropkick Detectives.)

WTF Indeed. I am so confused.

Yeah, I read it...twice, and I'm just as confused as Pete was in the book. Hopefully the next one starts to clear things up a bit.

Or it's Ted Kord
I want to know how many spider-clones there are right now.
that mysterio is still dead. there's been two since then. i think the one right now is francis klum
Well, let's just say that if you haven't read the issue yet, we won't spoil it for you.
Oh ho ho.
Go read it Servo.
