That picture above comes from an issue of the old Peter Parker: Spider-man series from a few years back.
The story was about a black child who lived in a run down apartment with his drug abusing mother. He fantasized about being friends with Spider-man as a means of escape from his crappy life. At the end he asked if Spider-man would take off his mask and share his secret identity with him. The kid imagines that Spider-man is black.

In the end, I think there's a little Spider-Man in each of us. And you know what? So long as you do the right thing and eat all your vegetables, you too can be pretty Amazing.
But you'll probably never marry a model.

Or do things a spider can.
my favorite trick with spidey in tony hawk 2 was 'does whatever a spider can'
i like that name a lot
in a related issue, i hope there's a power called 'does whatever a spider can' in marvel alliance
Since there isn't a comic book movie thread of some sorts, just thought I would post this here.
We've only seen one picture of Topher Grace as Venom, but never a front view of the full 'Venom' face.
Well, Master Replicas, a company that makes prop replicas (and nice ones, I might add) released proto images of some new things in the works for next year. They are doing quite a few Marvel items, including three Spider-Man masks, one such being Spider-Man 3 Venom, though granted, it is subject to change.
I preordered the Classic mask a few months ago..not bad for 129.00
Well, it is / was listed as a fully wearable replica, so I'd assume so.
Unfortunately, it was recently announced that the Comic Mask is being pushed to a 2008 release, due to the movie coming out next year, and what I assume to be influence from Marvel. Sigh is me.
And for some reason the web pattern is from the movie... seems to have a brick pattern similar to the movie mask, too.
So this "classic" Spidey mask is really more of an amalgam of some classic Spidey look and the movie look. Even more so if it has raised webbing like in the promotional poster.
Oh and that Venom mask looks neat. Neat concept. Maybe the webbing should be black like the rest of the body so it's not too distracting, though... whooo knows
The classic mask? It's lycra. Though for display purposes, it seems like it would be shipped on a hollow mannequin, so you could get the 'Spidey-look.'

By not wearable, he meant you couldn't wear it with your mouth exposed.
And really, if you can't use it for nerdy, sex roleplaying, what's the point of owning such a thing?
Though I suppose you could duct tape the person's mouth shut before putting it over his head, and then maybe slap him a little.
Yeah, that's straight from Mark Brooks so expect it to be true.
And Edit: This is apparently the info about it.
"This is the cover to What If? Spider-man: The Other from Marvel Comics. I'm really proud of this one because Peter David is the writer of the issue and he didn't know what story to write until he saw my cover. Apparently it inspired him to write, what he calls, the creepiest story he's ever written so I'm very flattered. The cover is an homage to Joe Quesada's original 'Spider-man:the Other #1 cover' which was an homage to Da Vinci's 'Proportions of the Human Body' so I guess you could say it's a double homage. Pencils and inks by me with colors by Christina Strain."

Are you joking? because I don't know who the fuck that is.
And I have a new background thanks.
All the villians are going to be scared shit-less when they found out Peter's back to beating people half to death.

I would seriously wet myself with joy if Spidey went back to his black costume look (non venom of course).
I think after decades of wearing the red and blue he would come to the conclusion: "who takes a guy in red and blue spandex seriously? Black all the way baby!"

Man, why does he even bother with Spider-Man anymore? He just gets the shit beat out of him by Spidey's supporting cast, like MJ beating him with a baseball bat.
At Comic-Con Framling wanted to give the writers at the DC panel a thesaurus with a bookmark on the page with the word "crisis" but we didn't have a thesaurus.

I hope that "subject to change" part comes into play in a big way.
Edit: On the normal Spider-Man mask there, can you see through the white lens thingy mabobs?

EDIT: There's also another picture with a new Venom pic. It's one of the links in here http://www.superherohype.com/news/spider-mannews.php?id=4834
It appears to be a full-body sketch.
Unless you like to wear rubber.

It's probably not the symbiote. But I'll take what I can get.
Iron Spidey can apparently change into several of Spidey's old costumes. Why he sticks with the Iron Man clor scheme, I'll never know.

Identity Crisis is the most used name for a story arc in comic history.
Yeah, I just realized Spider-Man did have an Identity Crisis.

Thesaurus Rex.
Grant Morrison might have turned you into a frog.
Quentin Flynn (who voices Spidey in M:UA) does an excellent job. I wouldn't mind seeing him on an animated series.
