If you like Amazons, my most recent (recent being at least six months ago, probably) character was a charged strike 'zon. It's stupidly good at taking down large single targets and groups of smaller monsters. LIs can be a problem, but there are good enough choices for a backup skill that you won't run into a whole lot of trouble. Very effective.
Some friends and I were just considering starting up some new chars. If I can drag them away from their born-again interest in FFXI I'm sure they'd play too... Realm: West Account name: Skexis lvl77 Assassin: Mirru (Feed me Nightmare Baal runs on this char and I will give you +260% magic find ) lvl52 Druid: Brisbane
I've never really played D2 MP. Some LAN. So I know next to nothing about what is accepted on the internets - I mostly play a boring Skele-Necromancer, though my current guy (Act III Normal) has some ranks through Bone Prison and a number of curses.

Well, it's going to be a lot faster paced, for one. People will be rushing you to get to the next quest (or depending on who you're playing with, just the next boss) so they can speed through it and get to Baal (and then Baal runs for xp). It's all a huge grind for many people on battlenet.
Of course, I'm a completionist, so I like to think I give every area the once over before I move on. I'm sure PA'ers playing together could meet somewhere in the middle.
One thing I will say, though, is that if you plan on going into Hell difficulty, or doing PVP of any kind, you should look at which class you like the best, and then start browsing some character builds. If you spread yourself too thin, you can probably limp all the way through Nightmare, but Hell will really kick you square in the beanbag.
However, I DO have a related question. At the last LAN with my friends, we tried to play D1. It would have been fine, but we couldn't figure out how to turn off friendly fire. Anyone have a solution for this? We just wanted to play it because we'd already gone through D2 countless times. The friendly fire really kills playing coop though.
The last time I played D2 was when Health/Mana Leech Ring, Whirlwinding Lance Barbarians were the shiznit. Are they still arbitrarily nerfing/buffing different classes every patch like they were back then?
My dad's been playing this game for years, with the excuse that "Once he gets to level 99 he'll stop". However, he's still only level 97-ish. He claims it will take him months to get to 99.

Unfortunately, there isn't a way. It pretty much makes partnering with a mage like a death wish, because inevitably he'll whip out the nova, and then OOPS, you have to pick your equipment off the floor again.

I don't think there's a good way to do it that isn't incredibly boring. Most people just end up doing repetitive runs of the highest mlvl areas, like Hell Baal and The Pit.
My highest is an 87 barbarian, but that was Hardcore, and I lost him helping someone in Nightmare. I doubt I'll ever get a character that high again, it just takes so much time and setup.
Does Diablo 2 : LOD work on vista? Or on vista in XP compatability mode?
If it does, then its past time I lead a skeleton horde back into hell. I love being a necromancer so much, its great to arrive in a battle and actually outnumber the enemies and be continually summoning more hordes of guys

It's my last semester at college, so I'm fucking busy all the time. But if people are playing I'll try to hop in when I can. Feel free to add or message me.
Fuck bnet. I'll play offline like I always have, for the same reason I always have: while you suckers are starting over from scratch I'll be loading up the riches gained from too many hours of Meph and Pindle runs three years ago.
Also, Baal runs (WSK and the throne room, mostly) are the ONLY way to get to 99 in 1.10+ due to the massive exp penalties for fighting critters not near your character level. Even then it'll take FOREVER to get those last few levels.
I never really got into online play, but I've been playing SP off and on, with persistent characters, for something like 7 years. I play every once in a blue moon; someday I'll find my grail.

If some people start a game, can I tag along?

I'm pretty sure it's from Eastern Sun, a mod for D2.
