The sixth stratum takes you by the ball hairs previously grown by becoming a man from beating the regular game and rips them off slowly, takes the rest off with a thousand thousand raw paper cuts, and rubs the newly shorn ballsack with sulfuric acid while playing bad Europop in the background.
So... wait.
Is B26 supposed to be hard or something?
I'm not having any trouble at all. And I've got most of the floor mapped out now.

Yeah, before I quit playing I was already at floor 27 or 28 (I forget which) and I wasn't have any particular problems. Maybe I just take things slower, I dunno. But I'm pretty excited for the sequel, I want more!

It's mostly trial and error, but if you've got good luck(and Volt magic), it's not so bad.
B26 is probably the hardest floor out of the first 26, but not too bad.
B27 is probably the hardest floor out of the first 27, and a little worse.
etc, etc.
B29 is something straight out of Phantasy Star 2/Bard's Tale fuck you in the head warp around sillyness.
B30 is a fight for your goddamn life.

Once I figured out the trick, B29 went smoothly.
At first I thought the warps were all the same, just leading to different points, then I realized after halfway, only one out of the four was actually leading towards the end.
Maybe this means I can actually beat Phantasy Star 2 now. I gave up somewhere around the Science Lab.
And B30 hasn't been that bad, so far.
Loooooooooong walk, and that's it? I expected much worse.
I meant to buy this game last year when it came out, then forgot. Think it's worth buying now, or should I just wait until the sequel comes out in two weeks?
You went from 'screw this' to 'final boss obliterated' in record time.
I can't even touch the Dragons yet, much less get near B30's boss.
Haha.
A little time (all day is a little time? o_O), a good exploration strategy, a bit of luck, and... 57 pits, it looks like.
Seriously, I probably saved like 2 hours or more just because I happened to choose one direction versus another on B27. If I had gone the other way, I'd probably just be getting to B30 right now.
You know, I always assumed he was man enough to go through boosted immunize so I just sat there and figured out the pattern.
Oh well.
There is also a third method that involves using two Troubadors to always keep buffs up thereby forcing him to debuff you every damn turn. That one is pretty damn neat.
So I found a copy of EO1 in my area. Amazingly, it's even brand new. The question is, is it worth buying a mere week before the sequel is out? Especially with a game this grindy and light on plot (from what I've heard) it seems like the sequel is likely to be a just plain better version. I'm bored out of my gourd right now, but still...
You folks who have played the original; is it worth buying even now? Or should I just hold out for the sequel?
Ha, just got the first one through Goozex, didn't know that this was coming out so soon. Oh well. I find EO to be a really nice pre-sleep way to wind down.

I think I've actually come to dread the arrival of EO2. EO1 totally dominated my life last summer, and I've got much less time these days than I did back then. EO's not really a game you can halfass (and finish inside of a year).
I should probably finish EO1 sometime. I got super frustrated on the infinite ants in...Bsomethingorother and gave up, intending to come back after like a week. Never happened, unfortunately. It's a great game that appeals to my grinding nature, but seriously fuck those infinitely respawning super ants.

Worth buying. Especially since I think you can import your characters from EO1 into 2.

I fail to see how you could import your characters from one DS game into another.

Thing is, I'm not likely to beat the game before the sequel comes out. But I am bored out of my fucking gourd right now, so I think I'll pick it up, even if I only get a couple of weeks' play out of it.

Just a heads up for any Brits interested, this game gets released tommorow.
So, what are the useable class set ups for a beginner?
My first group was a Landsknecht/Survivalist/Protector with a Medic(you need one of these, without a doubt) and an Alchemist in the back.
I eventually switched out the Protector for a Troubadour/Hexer because they made some bosses much easier, then brought back the Protector for the post-game(since it's practically mandatory).
So what are the chances this will be at Best Buy or Circuit City? I'm probably getting the Xbox 360/GTAIV+Gift card as a birthday/Father's Day present from my wife, and I'd really like to use the gift card on EOII.

Don't worry, the Sixth gets worse.

Screw B27.
I wasn't expecting this shit.
This may take a while.
I walked over every single pit before I mapped it out just because I could.
Protip: There isn't enough space in the memory for all the icons you're going to need on that floor. Find some other way.

I'm now dealing with urges to go out and immediately rebuy it in order to be ready for EO2 dropping.
I love masochistic games that are *just masochistic enough*. (Shiren and EO)

I'm wondering if I can make a party with nothing but grizzlies in it. That would be rad.
Do that and you'll unlock the secret final boss, who will completely destroy you:

You guys are all a bunch of lightweights.
B30F boss spoilers:
Took me about 35 turns to take him down. And that's only because he healed himself for 24000 around turn 26 or 27.
I don't really see why everyone gets all worked up about him.
Maybe EO2 will be tougher since we won't have the broken as all get out Immunize.

You still got lucky because no matter what he can still OHKO you.
In many ways he is easier than the Wyrm.
There's the "intended" method:
and the "god, medics are broken" method:
I'm guessing you went with #2? (Not that there's anything wrong with that, mind you.)
Here was mine:
The other 3 I have are Survivalist / Medic / Troubadour.
First Turn: (Anti-fire instead of Smite) / Apollon / Axcela III / Bravery
Second Turn: 1st Turn the M / Boost'd Immunize / Attack
Part A (S/M/T): 1st Turn the M / Salve 2 / Axcela III on M (or use a TP healing item)
Part B (S/M/T): 1st Turn the M / Boost'd Immunize / Bravery
Continue using Part A until he debuffs the party, then go to Part B.
Then back to Part A; rinse, repeat.
With Boost'd Immunize up, he does just under 400 damage with his spells, so Salve 2 fixes it all up.
EDIT: Haha, beat'd. Yeah the above strategy #2 explains it much quicker.
Oh well.
There is also a third method that involves using two Troubadors to always keep buffs up thereby forcing him to debuff you every damn turn. That one is pretty damn neat.
Haha, I should have GIS'd a little more. But I found one that fits even better...
