Study-abroad programs in college?

Hello all! I want to spend my junior year of University studying in Finland. However, the one program that advertises at my school (EAP) doesn't go there! (I go to the University of California Santa Cruz.) I was wondering if reputable "third-party"-type programs exist, and if anyone's had any experience with them?

I don't think I've ever heard of "3rd party" study abroad programs before. The great thing about ones sponsored by your school is that you know the credits will transfer and whatnot.

By "third party," I just meant other private programs which the school does not directly endorse.

A friend of mine is doing this with CCCU, but it's a Christian organization. Not sure if it makes a difference in your experience or anything. He went to Syria for a semester and is in Cairo this semester.

I would try googling "study abroad"...or contacting UC Santa Cruz's study abroad office, and asking them about this. They should be happy to provide you with info. In my experience, they are glad you want to study abroad, and they know what the general requirements will be.

You should also see what the Finnish Universities themselves have to offer. They may have 1-year visiting programs that you could apply to, then check if those credits will transfer.
