has there been any solid info on when the HD-DVD contracts with paramount/dreamworks/universal will end? ive been wanting to get a few movies from these companies but with my new TV DVD's 480i looks kind of shitty, so i want to start building and HD collection, Blu-ray obviously will win, so im curious when i'll be able to get movies like transformers. i did a google search and nothing that i thought i could trust came up... but i thought i heard that there was a solid timeframe.

There hasn't been any info from any of the studios in question, but more than likely expect Blu-Ray versions to show up either by the end of 2008 or early 2009.

This is just me speculating, so take it with a grain of salt.

It's been so long since I've posted here, I've removed my signature since most of what I had here were broken links. Shows over, you can carry on to the next post.

Paramounts deal was for 18 months or 2 holiday seasons, though theres rumors that they also hold the right to opt out if they want to. I don't think anyone knows if Universal is held by a contract or not.

Wal-Mart will have phased out all HD-DVD sales by the end of June, so those contracts—and HD-DVD—will be over by early July.

well, I think since HDDVD died Friday, I think all contracts are null and void.

Paramount was able to cancel its contract when Warner Brothers dropped HD DVD, if I remember right.

well this about ends that argument but i hope to see universal/paramount/dreamworks making blurays within the month... im sick of waiting... how long could it take though... 3 months or more? they had to have been getting ready for the switch at least 1 month ago if not a little longer.
