Batman TAS is actually not as perfect as everyone seems to think it is - nostalgia glasses and all.

I mean yeah, you have absolute classics like Heart of Ice and stuff, but the series was really really inconsistent, in animation and story quality. Justice League Season 2 and the rest of the show up through the Cadmus arc was really the best of the DCAU.

    What?

It's pretty true I think. BTAS had the odd great episode as was said, but it's very uneven, there's several OK episodes for every excellent one I would say. Whereas by JLU it's way more consistant, I mean I don't think people would have much problem naming quite a few poor BTAS episodes but there aren't nearly as many in JL/JLU and most of those are in the first season.

How the fuck does someone bitch about how a show didn't have consistently awesome quality form start to finish, then point out how this other show (past it's first season) is so much better?

You can't compare two shows but say "the first season in this show, that I like better than yours, doesn't count" The first seasons of Justice League, while it set things up for the far superior Justice League Unlimited, was pretty crappy.

No, Batman TAS wasn't all classic episodes. But the episodes in it that were classics had more depth, more meaningful dialog and poignant scenes than any moment Justice League ever had. The only exception that comes to mind, is when Flash almost ceases to exist after taking down Luthor. That was pretty amazing.

Or in the episode of Epilogue when instead of killing that girl, Batman holds her hand till she dies.

Yeah I haven't seen that one. I really liked JLU from the get go, but I could never remember to watch it when it was on half of the time.

I've gotten too used to having nothing to watch so I'm not in the internet far more oftne than I'm watching TV. I'll have to catch up via netflix whenever the DVDs come around, unless they've come out already... >_>

Do we ever get an exact age for Old Bruce during Batman Beyond?

    Also, from the Epilogue episode:

Terry: Guess I didn't want to believe you were so arrogant that you thought the world couldn't go on without you.

Bruce: Or someone like me. It's not arrogance - it's fact.

B:TAS was inconsistent as fuck. It was revolutionary to animation, but seriously, it was them learning what to do, and how to do a lot of things. They were trying a lot of new shit. Writing duties were spread out a lot, BS&P was stricter, even the composing duties were spread out more.

By the time you get to Justice League, they took one season to figure out how to do two parters really, and then BAM, they were firing on all cylinders. It was the most consistent that team has ever been, and that energy and quality kept up through JLU. And if you haven't even seen Epilogue, please don't come in here and tell me otherwise.

I wish they'd shown the full version of that video Question finds, where Supes burns Luthor's face off.

There's no denying the awesomeness of the later seasons of JL and pretty much all of JLU. I think one of my favorite episodes is probably The Death of Superman, much of which is because it was an excuse for them to finally bring back Lobo.

I haven't seen it in ages, but I think that was from the second part of Lobo's two-part bit in Superman animated series. He was captured by the preserver and there were two fembots keeping an eye on him.
