Kojima is said to have used Legos to map out sections of Shadow Moses in pre.

I am now picturing Kojima's having a basement with giant fully functional models of Shadow Moses Island, the Tanker, the Plant, complete with Arsenal Gear (which itself is fully fleshed out, even though you only see a few of its inside rooms in the game) and 27 RAYs, and the Soviet jungle all made out of LEGOs. The elevators are all electrically powered and some kind of wireless device of his own design inside of the Arsenal Gear serves as a parental control for his house's internet and television.

Amids all of this he's sitting on the floor Indian-style with like ten tubs of LEGOs, meticulously putting together the area(s) from MGS4 while blaring all four OSTs.

I picture this, and I smile.

Even if it lacked the cool box, I think there would be a hell of a lot less bitching if the collection had just 3 more discs. VR Missions, Document of MGS2, and Subsistence disc 2. How hard would that have really been?

Yeah, exactly. I'm used to having non-cool box art on my games (this is where someone posts the Ico boxes). I'd just like to have that complete package. Ideally, that one complete package that allows me to just give away all my previous Metal Gear releases (except for Twin Snakes) because I'd have IT, the definitive Metal Gear box (bookended by Twin Snakes and MGS4, of course). Kinda like I gave my old GTA3 to my best friend when I got the "trilogy" pack.

And to whoever asked about the languages in the Japanese release: I'm almost completely positive that the re-releases (Integral, Substance and Subsistence) actually ONLY included the English voices with Japanese subtitles in Japan. Kinda like the special editions of Squeenix RPGs and every Resident Evil. Which makes sense because the actual games do actually happen in English, story-wise, anyway (except for most of the non-radio conversations in MGS3).

Congratulations? Thanks for sharing? I don't know how to respond to that.

Has there been any info at all released about MGS4's progress? What about Metal Gear Online?

When was the last time any publisher did something like that in the US? I can't think of anything remotely close to that besides Halo.

Sonic Adventure 2. Sonic's 10 year birthday. It was a world wide promotion.

Yeah, but they didn't release any massive box-sets like that, with every single game in.

Both Nintendo and Sega have done this for Mario and Sonic.

Not even close. That was a cheezy little coin, a soundtrack, and an art book. All things frequently done in the west and not anywhere near either this Metal Gear collection or the rad Biohazard collection Capcom put out.

I'm not talking about the SA2 birthday pack. I'm talking about Sonic Jam.

Building an entire 3D sonic engine and building a 3D museum takes a shitload of work.

It just seems strange to have all of that info for MGS4, and follow it with complete silence for six months or whatever.

The less you know about something, the more excited you are.

The best movie trailers are those 30 second or less teasers that don't tell you a damn thing, not the 5 minute long ones that tell the best joke, ruin the best surprise, or spoil the best action sequence.

It's the same with video games. Throw out some juicy bait, let them grab on to it, let it out a bit to tire them out, and reel them in.

It just seems silly from a marketing point. People who are not diehard fans will probably forget about it.

They did it with MGS2 as well.

    It's really not that strange.

Doug you're kind of a dick, you know that?

Also, remember the part in the beginning of Sons of Liberty when Snake tells Otacon "Sorry I took so long"? He was actually talking to the player.

The less I know about MGS4 the more awesome it will be once I can get around to picking up a PS3 and a copy and tearing both of them open with my teeth.

I think the real solution is somewhere in the middle. While many movie trailers are guilty of giving away too much, I find that teasers do absolutely nothing to get me excited about a movie. They don't give me any indication if the movie is any good, they just tell me the movie is coming. After watching a teaser, I feel like they wasted my time.

Ironically, (and I'm not having a go at you here, just ranting a little) we have gotten several massive trailers for MGS4.

So why people are comparing it all to teasers I'll never know.

I don't think anyone is comparing the massive MGS4 videos to teasers. At least, not from the posts I've read. People are just commenting that its kind of odd how back when the release was far off, without even a solid date, we were being bombarded with tons of media. Now that its actually coming soon, nothing.

Personally, I think the MGS4 trailers fall into the "showing too much" category.

I think that's the problem. They don't want to show us anymore without spoiling the whole damn game for us.

Yes, Dirty. That is what I was trying to say. I guess we don't really need a new trailer. The setting, characters and gameplay have all been shown already, and the story could of hinted at. It was just odd when these things were shown to us-- before the game was even complete. I have heard it is now in testing, which means it is complete unless something needs to be changed because of glitches or something, and I find it very odd how there has been nothing for such a long period.

I guess we might get something a month or two before it comes out.
