If you have access to a decent printer, check out this. Just to the left of the picture there's an option to see the other two versions they have. This site only carries the official covers, and it's a seriously awesome resource. I got sweet new covers for my Resident Evil 4, Ratchet & Clank 3 and the original Japanese cover to hide the garish NA art on ICO.
P.S. Okami rules.

Hey guys, I just re-played TP a few months ago, and it should be noted that, for all its "staleness" and lack of difficulty it's a really fucking fun and beautiful game that really involved me in its story. I can't play prior Zeldas at all now.
I think it's a bit unfair to constantly compare Okami to TP seeing as TP was a massive four-year Nintendo AAA effort (or say TP sucks in comparison which it doesn't) and I'm finding it a bit strange that people can just dismiss one or the other, or why liking Okami means you have to shit on TP or vice versa.
Indeed.
Both are great games.
Many people are silly about this simple fact.
TP is also the best Zelda.

So alright I may be an idiot, but what do you offer the statues. Do you drag over one of the animals you've fed? I am not quite sure what to do, and I haven't found a scroll or anything.

Your supposed to bring them a piece of pottery, made every once in awhile by the nameless man in the same field.
Yeah the man in the field (near the entrance to the cave) will give you vases that you can offer to the statues. I read somewhere that he gives them to you at various points through the story, but you can also just wait until near the end (I think I did it just before heading to the frozen lands) and do them in quick succession.

Cat statues = You'll find out when the time is right. You cannot miss finding out.
5 identical small statues in Shinshu field = What Issun says hints at a small diversion over the course of the game. Try checking out everyone and thing in Shinshu field or just being patient.
All the rest of the little Japanese statues in the game = What Issun says is purely idle commentary.
Specifically, the one in the cave NEARBY Shinshu Field where Issun says "Why don't you make an offering?" is one you cannot do anything with, ever.
I confess, I'm even more confused than the original statue-question-asker.
Once I was in a cave with a big cat (?) statue in front of a huge pedestal. Am I supposed to do anything with him? (I'm nowhere near done with the game, maybe it'll be relevant later.)
Do you do anything with the animals after feeding them?
There are like a hundred other random items I've picked up, should I care about any of them?

1) Patience. It will be revealed to you if you just keep progressing with the game.
2) You get belief from feeding animals. They also love you ever so much afterward. That's it.
3) You pick up 5 types of items in Okami: Weapons, equipment, food, power-ups, and loot.
Weapons are obvious.
Equipment gives you abilities while in use, such as drawing coins into Amaterasu like a magnet.
Power-ups do really typical video game stuff, like restore health or grant temporary invincibility.
Food goes into your "Astral Pouch". Filling astral pouches = 1-ups.
Loot involves both fish and treasure. Their one and only purpose is to be sold for cash.
Collecting all the Stray Beads will get you an item that also falls into the above categories, I'm just not spoiling what it is.

I'm satisfied with the animal lovin'; I just wondered if there was anything more I was missing.
I can't figure it out .... I got the Salmon or whatever in Agata to move the story along, but don't seem to be able to fish anymore.
anyone know this one?
I think you can only fish in certain places, where there happen to be fishermen. There's 4 or 5 of them in the game though, so... just keep trucking along.

Actually once your max out all "stats" you get yen for praise, period. You need to spend the praise and actually max out the stats, not just hold onto enough to do it.

They're sending covers, eventually. The download is for those who missed the window for the mailing offer. Capcom doesn't want to spend endless money on this, but also doesn't want to shaft latecomers, hence freely available PDF's. If you lack a sufficienly nice printer at home, a high-quality color laser print from FedEx Kinko's is very cheap.
I just bought a 32" 1080p Samsung and I'm really interested in picking Okami up -- but how does it look on an HD screen?
I ask because even with the Wii set to Widescreen/HD everything looks kinda.. chunky? Pixellated? I guess it'd be better if my tv was natively 720 or something. So yeah, to the 1080 HD crowd.. how does Okami fare? Just as gorgeous as I've heard?
Seriously, we're not Paul Atreidies. Without knowing anything about what you like in games or why you're interested at all, you might as well just pick up a magic 8-ball and ask the same question for an answer.
I've sunk about 20 hours into Okami now and I don't understand how anyone could not like it. Sometimes all the dialog gets to be a problem, but there have been long stretches where Issun was actually likable (something I thought impossible at the outset).
If you like Zelda games, you'll definitely like Okami. If not, get it anyway because it's wonderful.
Also, having played the PS2 version I could probably live with the Wii version. (In fact I'm thinking of getting it for my second playthrough.)
Actually the game is dragging for me in a big way at the moment, since sei-an and the surrounding area has such a horrendously tedious density of quests and little things to do and Issun has started repeating any given sentence at least five times per conversation again, but I suppose I could ignore it all if I weren't OCD.

It looks fine. Pretty even. Sure, you can notice some aliasing on the text, and a few jaggies here and there, but overall it's very nice. You won't be disappointed, widescreen is one of the good reasons for the Wii version over PS2. I have a 1080p 46" Samsung just for reference.
Question for all of those with Okami Wii - Is there anyway to draw straight lines easier? I mean, I know about holding down the Z(?) button to draw straight, but then when I move the remote it never actually goes in the direction I want it to. Maybe it's just my horrible coordination? I seem to be able to draw a fairly straight line without using Z, but it never recognizes it

I think this was discussed quite a bit earlier, if you want to browse through the thread.
I was so ready to pick this up when I saw it at Best Buy. I picked up the box and remembered about the IGN watermark. I want it just for that. I already have the PS2 version.

yeah, the 'z' button isn't all that great. I think the trick is to do it fast and slightly upwards (least that what I do)
also, I hadn't had one problem with the wiimote until the crescent moon to make day into night.
it took me no joke about 45-50 tries. ARGH! I would try to freehand it, I tried to trace it .... well not try, I did trace the shape. Nothing worked until I did it like a semi-circle facing upwards. Stupid moon.

This really is inexcusable, and really makes me regret selling my PS2 copy of the game. The one thing in this game that should be a no brainer, and they somehow fuck it up beyond belief.
The times when I had the most problems with drawing using the Wii Remote was when you were learning the technique in question. During those segments you could do movements that would work just fine later on when you were doing it yourself, but Issun (who should go in the biggest douchebag in gaming thread, and the most aggravating moments while playing a game thread) would yell at you that it wasn't perfect.
When using the Z button to draw a straight line, move the remote quickly in the direction you want it. If you move it slowly, it gets all wonky and won't accept it.
So I got this about 2 weeks ago for the Wii and I have to ask, is it normal for the controls to make certain aspects of the game unbearable? I'm decently far in now (about 20 hours with lots of wandering around) so I'm going to spoiler this stuff but really it just makes me wonder if the team that ported this game play tested it at all.
This is the major complaint I have: The brush just spazzing the hell out. I'm at the Oni Island Temple now and here it just went batshit insane. Every single battle it would start jumping from the right to the left and I'd have to shake the controller to get it back to normal. Then it only draws small thin lines. It's annoying to have to do this every single time I want to do a power slash. It only did this occasionally but in this dungeon it's insane. I eventually had to stop playing it for the night because it was pissing me off so much. Maybe it was just a random fluke of the sensor bar screwing up?
It also has a problem in the digging games they have you do every once in a while, but the problem it has then is big blotches of ink being used. I don't know why it's doing this, I'm not doing anything different. I'm using the same buttons and style I've been using since the start of the game. It doesn't make any sense to me. It never really does this outside of those digging games. Maybe once every hour or so. Those mini-games though? All the time.
I'm also of the opinion that dodging with the nunchuk just does not work. I've tried and tried, it does not work. It recognizes my commands correctly only about 10% of the time. When I can play No More Heroes and do wrestling moves without ever messing up, this kind of crap is inexcusable. Does it really just not work? It makes some fights a bit more annoying because I know I want to dodge away but I know I'll just move forward if I try to dodge left. Luckily it's never actually cost me a life but one boss battle came dangerously close because of it.
Finally I'd like to say that the combat screws up a lot but that's actually me with no sense of timing at random points. Most of the time. I mostly use reflectors and I can usually get the 5th hit in but sometimes I can't even get 2. I time it perfectly, nothing. After I've lost all chances of possibly doing the rest of the combo, I realize I can't get the 2nd hit at all. Then I just wildly shake the controller and then I finally get one attack off that breaks through this "barrier" and lets me get a 2nd hit in and then everything is back to normal. What the hell is up with that?
So basically I'm wondering if I'm the only one with these problems and if there's some kind of solution because I really like this game. These problems really piss me off though because no other games I've played have had problems remotely like this.
I've had all of those problems. There's nothing you can do about the Nunchuk Dodge as far as I know, but I never considered that dodge very useful anyway.
The Spastic brush really pissed me off. I had that problem everywhere in the game. I think eventually I realized that I just needed to hold the controller straight, not tilted. Straight toward the sensor bar, buttons facing straight up. I don't know if that actually helps or if was just random nonsense, but it seemed to work for me.
And as soon as I got the Rosary weapons I never used anything else. Chaining those hits is totally simple.
I guess I should have been really unhappy with this game considering all of those problems. Unusable dodge, annoying to use weapons, and a brush that was sometimes completely out of fucking control. Oh, and most of the wild animals wouldn't "pop up" into view until you were standing on top of them, and I never was able to make a thicker, or thinner line.
But somehow I still enjoyed everything. It's a fantastic game.
Okami is one of those games you plan to let your kids play one day (and that they'll probably think is terribly uncool) - after reading this page I'm very glad I secured a copy on the PS2 when it first came out.

I just got the Wii version (I haven't played the PS2 version) with a free Amazon giftcard. Am I supposed to hate this game? I see so many people complaining, but I'm awestruck by how beautiful this game is. Perhaps it's because I didn't play the original, but I love the Wii version.
Edit: After reading a bit more of the forum, I simply may not be up to the point where the problems kick in and start pissing me off. I'm only a couple of hours in, so I haven't gotten a lot of the weapons and moves that seem to be causing trouble.
This game is gorgeous though, and I will freely admit that I cried during the opening cinematic. I think that's the first time that's happened.
