This had better not be Microsofts big surprise for the 360 this year, I'd honestly be more excited if they announced a word processing package (which would not be exciting at all)

Goldeneye? Seriously? It had better only be like $10.

I'm of the ilk that really just didn't care about Goldeneye and if this is a 'big' announcement of the year, a decade old game, thats pretty bad. And by bad I don't mean good.

Hey man I'm just quoting the source, I'm in the same boat as you. It's interesting to see how this plays out, how they got around the legal issues with Nintendo. My N64 version is all the Goldeneye I need.

GoldenEye certainly had the nostalia factor, but Perfect Dark was, by far, a superior game in ever way.

Well some people didn't buy Quake II. Everyone and their kid sister that didn't have a clue about FPS PC gaming played some multiplayer Bond.

Super mega fixed. Goldeneye was only awesome - and I mean this - to console kiddies who weren't yet into PC shooters. Yes, there are going to be exceptions to this generalization, but Goldeneye sucked if you had any PC FPS gaming experience.

Right. Goldeneye was more accessible, inclusive, and sold in droves to the people who had no clue about Direct3D, OpenGL or networking. I loved Quake but didn't really play much Quake II, and then I went straight to all things Half Life.

Yes the PC games were lighyears ahead of their console counterparts. But telling my buddies to go home, beg their parents to let them bring their computers over, and setting up a LAN was tons harder than sitting on a couch and grabbing a controller.

    Really?

cause I was a big pc fps gamer UNTIL goldeneye and turok game out. That's when I realized that console FPS's could be a great deal of fun, and I didn't have to go into elitist denial that by the nature of the pc FPS's were somehow automatically better on it. Some people don't give two shits about crackshot ultra aiming as the sole reason to enjoy a game.

    Although quake II was better.

My view on this just went from 'unlikely' to 'pessimistic'. This is what the magazine dudes have been writing in their blog.
And it's an exclusive so exclusive that even the companies involved don't know what we have. Yes, we're teasing it out, but the picture is just the first piece of the story. Exclusive shots. Hands-on. Eyes-on.

Will you be excited? Oh yes. Will you, like us, be just a little bit angry too? Mmmm, maybe.
The companies don't know the magazine has it and we'll probably be angry (surprise!), sounds like their "mega-gee-golly-exclusive" is just going to be the story of Goldeneye's demise and not the announcement of a game. Probably just got a hold of material from the build Rare was rumored to have made before actually acquiring all the licenses/rights they needed.

If Rare/Microsoft really wanted to release this, I don't see why they wouldn't just strip out the Bond license stuff and work in some stylized super spy designs. (Like The Agency, for example) In fact, I would probably be more interested in it if they were to go that route...

To all those people that say Goldeneye was a success as it was in the right place at the right time I will respectfully dissagree.

The levels were brilliant. It had a decent stealth setup to it each level was fun, the sniping missions were fantastic. That's what made Goldeneye so fantastic.

Damm, Facility, the bunker level (can't remember what that is called) the silo are all classic levels.
