HDMI and versions

Quick question, I was just about to buy a few hdmi cables from monoprice and I've never bothered to ask. I already have hdmi cables but I have no idea what version they are. Anywho, question-Does 1.3a Category 2 work on all past versions of HDMI? If I bought a 1.3a cable, it would work even if the version of my hdmi input is 1.1 right?

I was about to make a thread for my own hdmi related question, but I'll just post it here since it should be a quick answer as well.
I want to take the DVI output from my video card and connect to it my TV via HDMI. Are there adapters that will allow me to also pass the sound(RCA or mini-jack) over hdmi? I couldn't find anything like that with a quick look through monoprice, so I figured I'd ask here to see if what I'm looking for even exists.
Woa, that's a little bit more pricey than I was looking for. I guess I really didn't consider that an actual converter would be necessary. Oh well, I guess I'll use VGA in or something.
...well I'll be damned. For some reason I thought that audio in was for the vga in, but that has a seperate input. Thanks.
No problem. Most newer HDTVs with HDMI have one specifically set up to work as a DVI port. That said, check your manual to see if you can get full resolution doing that - I know that my Vizio 37" specifically stated that the DVI mode was only for consumer HD sources that used DVI and the resolution if used as a monitor input would be limited to 800 x 600.
