Hands down one of the best moments of the entire series thus far. I was laughing my ass off and clapping like a retard after he said it.
exactly
not because it was the right thing to say
or because i even feel walt has the right to say it, based on how badly the world has fucked him over (or, as we've learned, how he might be exaggerating shit)
but because he is really fucking delusional right now and he is sticking with it

Seriously. That's the thing I love about this series. It sticks to its guns, character wise, and never looks back.

I can't agree with this enough. If there's one thing I can't stand in any show, it's character inconsistency.
but walt has been very clear that he will not start using and even told jesse not to use
that's the thing is that with each step he takes he does more and more things out of character....each one seems like a tiny step from the LAST thing he did so he can justify it in his mind..but if he looked at the whole picture, whether or not he would have done that thing from day one he'd obviously not
i believe he'll do it at some point....seems inevitable to me....
Jesse's new girlfriend must have some serious issues.

The opening sequence was probably the best I've seen so far in the series. Potential clues to what will happen to Walt and Co. in the next few episodes, maybe? Good episode overall. :^:
Morbid curiousity- Where exactly where the explosives hidden/shoved?
Poor Turtle. Its funny, watching a show like this I always expect the worst thing to happen at any moment. But of course, when a turtle wanders on screen two of the last things I would have ever expected to happen both immediately happen.
Such a great show.

A brick of C4 could've easily been shoved into the dude's head before it was glued to the tortoise's back.

During the opening song, I'm pretty sure the guy wearing the Heisenberg hat and glasses isn't Walt.
I rewatched it.
It looks like it isn't. The guy in the video has a 5 o'clock shadow.
I suspect the song's not supposed to be metaphorical, but fitting with the theme of how most episodes start at the end and then flashes back.
I think it's literally supposed to be a low-budget music video set in the show, perhaps a few weeks down the line from this episode. Apparently the mythical drug kingpin Heisenberg's fame and notoriety among the cartels have inspired a Mexican band to piece together the rumors about him and write a song.

I was intrigued to learn after watching the episode that "drug ballads" like this one are a big thing down there

there is actually a whole weird culture brewing in that atmosphere
If you want to feel like you are tripping, check out some shit about how the drug dealers are inventing their own catholic cults or switching over to older ones because they keep getting excommunicated.
Walt's speech to Jesse about "being a blowfish" is some of the best acting in the series.
edit: also was Trejo listed in the opening credits and I missed it?
I loved the ending to that scene. This big, inspirational speech that, despite being floundering and weird, somehow hits its target - and is immediately undercut by Jessie going right back to the bong and Walt having a collapsing coughing fit. It all just played out so fucking well.
And wow, that turtle scene. Didn't see any of that coming.

jesse might not be willing to become the badass walt wants him to be
but he may, due to this "scary mentor" thing walt has with him

it don't matter because they grow and shit!
hank! remember when we all thought hank was the solid foundation that don't change?
was he going through post traumatic stress syndrome?
edit: also Young Walt continues to be my favorite character. Walt Jr., I mean.
Or Flynn. Whatever.
I can't wait for his web of lies to collapse on him. That's going to be some good TV.
but there we are, with creepy bear in the pool
i believe he'll do it at some point....seems inevitable to me....
I certainly wasn't expecting that explosion.
does
does he tell hank in the next episode?
BOOM!

guess I'll catch one of the encores and wonder where my mind was.

The most notorious is the cult of Dona Sebastien - the Saint of Death
a cynical part of me thinks it's just because traficantes think calaveras are the hot new tattoo, but the shit goes clear back to the mayans.
Sinaloa's full of bad thoughts right now, man.
I host a podcast about movies.
