Because we don't really have a dedicated TV thread, I'ma say this here:
People talk a lot of shit about Friday Night Lights' second season, but it's still pretty goddamn great. A weak season of an amazing show is still exceptional, in the big scheme of things.
at first glance i thought you were talking about the current season and couldn't understand referring to it as weak
but yeah the second season definitely has its moments. saracen's meltdown with coach in particular is one of the finest scenes of the show.
Saracen's anything has a pretty good chance of being awesome, but that scene was a gutpunch. Another amazing moment? Street exiting the booze cruise.
The biggest point of contention in season two is the Tyra/Landry storyline. And honestly, I love it. Sure, it's a bit of a tonal departure for the show, but godDAMN can those two act. They take a potentially shark-jumpy thing, and ground it. Humanize it.
I never watched the first two seasons in their original run - only on DVD. Third was when I started watching live. And maybe it played differently on a week-to-week basis, and watching it all at once makes it cohere better. But on my initial watch, and my current re-watch, it's a damn fine season. Damn fine.
It's on my list of shit to catch up on. Any show where Henry Rollins is a recurring character is worth checking out, in my book. And I have a lot of faith in FX (Latter-day Rescue Me and Testees aside)
So I'll get there, Fuga. Don't worry your pretty little head.
If I properly recall what I read, he's a major player in the second season.
Plus, Ron fucking Perlman is one of the leads. The show sounds excellent, by all accounts. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
Back to Friday Night Lights: Has there ever been a leading lady on television who's better than Connie Britton? I'm hard-pressed to think of a single one. Her effortless depth and range is just astounding.
Yeah, yeah, Edie Falco, I know. But any decent actor can make a meal out of a juicy monologue. Absolutely KILLING IT, week in and week out, in even the reaction shots? That's fucking talent.

season two got pretty rough week to week, and i definitely found it more watchable when i went back on dvd. when you're waiting a week between episodes you have time to stew about murder and shark spinal surgery and fucking volleyball. all at once, it's a lot easier to focus on the good stuff.
Fuck fuck fuck fuck FUCK why is there not even a damn release date for the season three DVD yet?
Season two spoilers
Cannot believe that he let Jane die.
Really loved the pre-credits imagery they were using throughout the season with the bear and the payoff for it was pretty awesome
the release date is the same every year, 1 or 2 weeks before the next season starts....so you probably won't be seeing it until like june/july next year
i'm sure you could download the season on amazon unbox or something similar right now though

Yeah, you can download it on Amazon or iTunes, but I've been watching this series on Sundays with my dad, who doesn't have a computer, and I don't want to skip ahead of him in the story, so yeah :?
Looks like I'm stuck waiting another eight months or so
About Sons of Anarchy. It's good. Occasionally fantastic (mostly due to Ron Perlman), rarely disappointing. Fits right in with FX's growing stable of respectable television.

yaya you havent even gotten to the second season of breaking bad
which is twice as good as the first season
and only half as good as the third season
like i mean
yaya dont read any of these seriously
best part of season 1
walt blows up tuccos place with fulminated mercury. pretty badass.
best part of season 2
besides the entirety of saul goodman's character, walt leaving jane to die was horrible and perfect all at the same time and really shows the evolution of his character up to that point
and best parts of season 3
the finale, when walt is begging and pleading and crying for his life, and he offers to give up jesse in order to let him live, and he's just this sniveling little slimy skeeze, and he gets the phone to call jesse and then immediately orders the hit on gail, and holy shit, bryan cranstons shift from pitiful excuse for a human being begging for his worthless life to incredible hard ass was amazing. the way he just listed off gail's address, the way the cleaner guy and gus just exchanged 'jesus fucking shit' looks with each other, and the malevolence that just came out of walt was astounding
then there's the final scene in the season, with jesse just destroyed and crying but pulling that fucking trigger anyway
and, of course, my favorite scene in any television show, ever, which i can sum up in one word without spoiling anything:
"Run."

^Of those, the Season One moment was my favorite. Up to that point, Walt was still innocent Walt, imo.

And the turtle in the episode right after
This show is amazing
Agreed.
And I fucking love Mad Men.

she is in constant anxiety
that is how i felt too when i watched it
Just rewatched seasons 1-3, can't wait.
its coming back
omg
But it still gave me chills.
One of the best shows I've ever seen.
What spring does with the cherry trees.
It's all old stuff.
What spring does with the cherry trees.
Watched the whole lot over a weekend.
The best thing about it, imo, was the pink teddy.
I kept guessing right up until the end. :P
I used caps so you know how serious I am
Uh-oh I accidentally deleted my signature. Uh-oh!!
Half Measure was definitely the best episode
And now there's only one more month to wait!
Unless I'm horribly wrong.
it has one of my favorite monologues ever on tv
goddamn this show is shit-hot, physically had to stop myself from finishing it all today
yet the first season, as amazing as it is, is the weakest
think about that

seriously this show is almost as good as The Wire
not quite, but damn
What in the fucking fuck is this fucking shit?
...
Actually, yeah, it's good, but...
Look at it this way!
The Wire is The Godfather. The Shield is The Godfather II. And Breaking Bad is Goodfellas.
