Actually I think part of what I like is that they dust off old characters and give them meaning again. Current cool solo titles: Ms. Marvel, Iron Fist, and Nova. Freaking Nova is cool now! I enjoy it a lot more when a book brings out an old face than when it introduces some new character that'll never be seen again after the current arc.

Although I've always thought Angel and Havoc were pretty lame.

Hercules is goddamn awesome now too.

Back to the COX discussion of balanced groups and what not. So far I'd say the only rules for balanced groups are:

A scrapper/tanker heavy group, does not get along with storm powers :(

I'm more saying, as an avid scrapper player, it's annoying as shit to be in a group with someone who spams knockbacks. You run up to kill something, get one hit in, and then it's 75 feet away.. get back to it.. holy shit.. 75 feet away again.

It's not bad when the person in control of the knockbacks knows what they are doing, but when there's 3 to 4 melee characters in a group, and 1 - 2people with lots of knockbacks, and all they do is spam them all the time, and don't even try to corner anything.. it's fucking annoying.

Made even more annoying by the game insisting that your camera HAS to spin to follow your character's direction. Oh, were you using /follow because a Hurricane user keeps pushing people just slightly out of range? Enjoy not having any idea what's going on around you because the camera is performing a motherfucking rave.

I can't remember my camera settings but I'm sure my camera doesn't do that. I'll have a look.

Oh, btw, I just joined Powers Affliction with my main villain now that I've finally worked out which should be my main (Mr Lonely, Bot/Trap MM). Hi all

Enhancements question! Do different mobs drop different kinds of enhancements? I did several missions today where I fought Arachnos and the Council (I think) and got seven DO enhs that were either science/tech or tech/natural. Should I be looking for CoT missions or something to try and find enhancements that my magic-origin brute can use?

Yes they do. Magic dudes drop magic enh and so forth.

Each villain group has its own drops sets. Like Circle of Thorns drop mostly magic salvage and enhancements, Arachnos are mostly Science and tech. It's pretty straight forward.

I'm not into the maths of the game, but some magic salvage sells for a lot on the Market, so I find even if I have a tech character I can do just fine fighting Circle of Thorns, selling everything, and then buying Tech enhancements.

Yeah you don't find enough of the right enhancements to deck out a character in loot only. So it doesn't matter too much who you fight.

Really you should just fight guys you have the easiest time killing or have the most resistance to.

Also if you right click a mob, go to info, and then click the Salvage Tab it tells you what stuff it drops. It also tells you if any of those items are used in the recipes you own.

Here's something I'm wondering about IO's. I noticed that 50's are slighty more effective compared to 45's. and I'm at lv 45. Once I hit 47-50, will they lessen in effect slightly as I approach 50? (As in when you have a 47 enhancer at 45, it's green and slightly better. Will ZI see the same thing as I approach 50?)

IOs always remain maximally effective. You can, however, replace them with the superior versions if you want the higher bonuses.

What Rag said, though remember to check how the Enhancement Diversification rules will affect replacement IOs. If you're putting 3 of the same type of IO in a power (or have several multi-attribute IOs), higher level versions may not give you any appreciable benefit at all if you're already nearing the ED cap.

So, really, if you are going to 3 slot something there isn't much of a reason to use anything higher than 35 IOs...I think. 50 IOs are awesome for any Enhancement type you only plan on putting 1-2 slots worth of into a power.

Speaking of I never got much info on Khelds.

EDIT So for however I have things slotted I could just use 35's to get maximum benefit as I did before, and get slightly better for stuff I only 1 or 2 slot with 50's?

I really wish I could just get my 99% effectiveness for having 3 and be done with it....one of the reasons I quit before was ED.

It's been a while, but my first CoH character was a mutant, and their enchancement drops are a little weird, since not many villain types fall under Mutant. Had to kill Nazis (5th Column, now Council) and Nazi robots for my Mutant SOs...

Do IO's still stop working if you get exemplared down below their level? I'm pretty sure normal enhancements continue to work but I could have sworn I heard somewhere that if you're using say... level 35 IO's and you exemplar down to 34 or lower, you'd effectively be left unenhanced and pretty damn weak.

So I'm really trying to get myself into a DB scrapper. Either WP or Regen, but I can't really come up with a concept for one. And I'm one of those people who's characters need to have some sort of concept, or they'll never get passed sewers levels.

I just can't think of any cool reason to use a DB scrapper. My current version is a viking, not sure I like it though.

Oh sweet! So there's really no reason not to go for an IO setup if you're rich enough then, huh?

On a not really related note I'm having a hell of a time forcing myself to 26 for the Assault Bot of Pure Win on my Bots/Dark, but after having seen one in action for the first time, I know it's gonna be oh-so-worth it. Anything I can do to make the trip up a little less painful though, aside from just abusing the hell out of teams?

So I resubbed like last week, some of you might have seen me the few times I bother to talk in the channel. I made a necro/dark MM. I also decided to try out this roleplaying stuff. So I made it an easygoing, rich, modern necromancer named Baron Orcen. My zombies are my ex-wives.

Since I didn't want to muster up the energy required to ask for a VG invite, I waited until someone broadcasted something. A group called AzCorp took me in. They have a nice base and a large coalition.

Forward to Saturday at around 5pm. Someone pops up in coalition chat saying there is a party going on in someones bases. I thought, "Cute." and go check it out. There was a bar, and jacuzzis, and lounges. This thing was legit. And I don't regret saying I enjoyed myself just dicking around with some other people in a video-game jacuzzi on a saturday night.
