I was thinking about my enforcer's story as being part of a larger Anarchist group that belives Anarchy works if everyone isn't a dick. So criminals = dicks and he must punish those dicks.
Hard.
Mainly because I really want to make a criminal looking dude, but play as an enforcer, so it works now. Mohawk erryday.
Well I want my main to be Enforcer, and my main is going to be detailed after myself, visually, as much as possible. And considering I tend to look very much not traditional police-mans, mohawk and whatnot, I decided to go with that story.
Besides, they said the area is supposedly so crime filled that they declared martial law and allowed groups to act as police forces. So fuck yeah Anarchy Police activate.
I find Criminals appealing because I want to blow things up without instigation.
Does that make me a bad person ?
No, it makes you... unimaginative.
"Yes chief, I am absolutely 100% positive that that orphanage was a front for a major counterfeit operation. Yes, I realize that its hard to find evidence of such accusations underneath all the rumble, but you know my record, chief. You know me. I'm a damn good cop, and my record speaks for itself. I had a feeling in my gut about this one, chief. I know that you think I did the right thing." *walk out of the chief's office like a BAWSS*
Most of the guys at APB-Evolved who are playing criminals are all "Fuck the police FIGHT THE POWER ANARCHY!! WOOO" or like some kind of GTA gangster wannabe.
That's all the motivation I need to play enforcer.
That was a problem playing inFamous on the PS3. You try and be a good guy but your powers include Lightning Missiles, Lightning Grenades, and slamming into the ground sending out a Lightning Shockwave. Every time you hit a pedestrian with one of these moves you lost positive karma. It sucked.
Until you did your second evil run and carpet bombed the fuck out of everything that moved.
In any case, I feel that I'll probably have a character on each side of the conflict so that I can take down some 15 year olds who don't play buy the rules when I felt like it and blow everything to kingdom come when I don't.
So this is really coming out? I remember hearing about this years ago
Yes, it really looks like it's coming out early next year.
I wonder whether they'll let everyone play with each other worldwide or if they'll do like some other MMOs do and have servers for different regions with no options of playing on the servers for the other regions.

I think they should have region servers but let you play on other ones if you want to. Seems like lag would be a pretty big issue in this if its more actiony.
You'll be allowed to jump servers if you want to. They made a comment about being the top dog on one server so you and your friends go to another one to try your hand there.
So..anyone who's playing as a Criminal thinking about playing as the classy gangster type? I hope you can make them look like that. If I can't I'll certainly be playing Enforcer moreso.

Yeah, you have incredible depth in how you can design your character.
You can go as clean cut or as a wild as you want on either side, and the Enforcers can look as wild as a the criminals.
The only difference is side-specific accessories like badges or cuffs for the Enforcers.

A new APB podcast is up here. It's got more footage from the Mark Rein playthough stuff, explaining a few things in game.
MOVE LEFT STUPID CAMERA.
Nice video, thanks for the link. I did like the idea of on "Normal" ruleset, you can tail a known criminal till he does something illegal, then its on and the gunfight begins.
Even if the Escort missions aren't up to much (Which they may be, depending on how it is implemented) I could quite happily patrol around smacking down random criminals who were stupid enough to steal a car within eyeshot of me.
It is just a guess, but the Escort/protect missions the cops were seen doing seem like they are just the opposite of the APB crimes commited by the criminals. Who knows, maybe whilst your doing the Escort the flag gets sent out to a random group of criminals to attack you, same way that you might get a crime report from the criminals.
We also need some sort of standardised letter for all of our slightly suspect busts:
"To: ......., Chief, Fancy Lads Tree House Detective Agency,
From:........
I am absolutely 100% sure that the (Insert Innocent Target) was a front for a major (Counterfeit Operation/Drugs Ring/Arms Dealer/Other).
Yes, I realize it is hard to find evidence of this due to the (Extensive Collateral Damage/Missing Witnesses/Size of the Fireball/Fact I really didn't try)
But you know (My record chief/I'm only five days till retirement/I get the job done chief/That neighbourhood was a dump anyway).
I had a (Feeling in my gut/Murderous Rage/Wildcard Partner/Anonymous Tip)

And SE++ are going Enforcer in numbers too? Excellent. Now all we have to worry about is when Something Awful gets organised.

SWEET, MAD LIBS!
I am absolutely 100% sure that the Public Zoo was a front for a major Ponzie Scheme.
Yes, I realize it is hard to find evidence of this due to the fact that the only witness is an elephant named Professor Hooffington
But you know I'm only five days till retirement.
I had a Hunch and 14 extra cases of bullets due to a "shipping error"

Can anyone tell me if when they signed up for beta they got a confirmation email?
I'm sure i signed up but i never got an email.
I did not get a confirmation email. I assume it's something that they don't do, but I did at some point get a newsletter telling me to sign up, which I'm pretty sure I subscribed to during the sign up process.
I've been following this for a while and I got to say I'm looking forward to this game. Already got a rough idea for what kind theme I want my character (or possible clan) to roll with.
Theme: Ex-military group gone rouge gone fleshreaper cult worship gone local militia enforcement. In nut-shell, everything is deck out with urban blue cameo, body armor, and ride around in beat-up technical pick-ups.

I hate escort missions with a passion
That's all the motivation I need to play enforcer.
around 1:23-1:50 mentions enforcers doing protecting (obviously) but also Escorting (ugh).
yeah you get points taken away, its like they dont want you to be the good guy
And not have to worry about collateral damage

Oh ho ho.
Never payed much attention to this game before, started now, and boy, am I glad I have.
The depth of customization looks even better than Champions Online, something I thought would be hard to beat in levels of character customization.
Signed up for the beta, hopefully I'll make it in.
