GMail as default Windows email?

Simple question:

Is there anyway to set GMail as the default Windows XP email. As in, when I click on the email link on the start menu my browser launches with GMail.

Here you go, I do this myself. :)Gmail setup

Edit: Oof, I read that wrong. There should be a way to set up a link in a shortcut, but I'm not sure if windows will let you change the link totally. But the Gmail Notifier program will launch the browser when you click on it though.

You can do this with Thunderbird... install that, set it as your default email client, then simply select "Gmail" from the New Account wizard. All you do is punch in your email address and name and the whole thing is good to go.

I'm sure you can do this with Outlook or Outlook Express, too, but I'm not positive how, and I know it's not nearly as easy to set up as Thunderbird.

Outlook and Outlook Express can be configured for POP email accounts.
Go to your Gmail settings > forwarding and POP/IMAP tab > select your POP setting of choice > click the "Configuration instructions" link > Select you email app from the page that pops up and follow instructions.
