It seemed the courier vehicles have less health than normal vehicles, I was easily able to ram and smash one around enough to destroy it as it tried to run.

I swear early on it blew up after one/two charges, but now it takes something like four to six nano rifle blasts to kill them. For reference, an APC takes around three, a tank approx. six or seven.
I sure as hell didn't. Might not be the games strongest point but I liked the small story elements. That final cutscene sure as hell wouldn't get skipped, or it better not.
Man, that blond girl had the worst British accent. It was like a middle-class English chick pretending to be an American pretending to be an upper-class English chick.
I got the impression that they were Ultor staff that were abandoned by the colonies because of the Ultor connection. The thing I don't get, though, is the wacky aesthetic. What's with the Mad Max/Tusken Raider theme? Why not just live as regular people? My only idea is that a few radio tags mention some kind of religious cult. Maybe Marauders worship junk and build all of their stuff out of it?

I'm pretty sure
They were screwed up by that doctor guy who was researching the nano experimentation in the first game. They worship him like a god and I guess that makes you wear mad max stuff.

No it's not. It's ten past one in the morning here and I need specific instructions. It's nothing to do with the railgun is it?
Use something explody. I prefer a small forest of remote charges directly in their path, but a rocket launcher or even those useless proximity mines would work. The key is not letting them reach their destination, or even alerting them of your presence, till you've laid a trap for them. Barring that, ya you're pretty much stuck following them and them plowing into their vehicle once they stop. Best vehicle to chase them in (not that you'll get to plan it) is probably the EDF Gauss Patrol Truck.
If anyone's having trouble with that demo challenge where you have to hammer the barrels into the building, I got a good strategy for it that seems to work.
Well, the first thing I found out was if you just want to beat it, it's totally possible to just run over to the building and smash it down with the hammer. You won't get the pro score, but you can definitely beat it in time.
I found that to really aim the barrels, you can actually use you crosshair - aim it a little higher than where you want the barrel to hit, then do the downward hammer swing and try to hit the barrel right on the nail with the head of the hammer (it does seem to matter a lot where you hit it). Basically you want the barrel to squirt out from in between the ground and your hammer and fly in a totally flat trajectory down into the base of the building. I had the best luck putting my reticle at about the spot where the roof meets the walls, or a little below. Right now my best time is still only 12 seconds, though I think getting 10 is really going to be a matter of luck as much as skill even if you get a good technique down.
Man those commenters on that video from the last page are whiny little bitches. If that video isn't enough to make someone spooge their pants over the game, they have no soul.
Oh! Also... has anyone else, after they have beaten the game... spoiler time:
Gone up into the northern area of Eos, gotten an interception mission, and it's JENKINS?! Jenkins, my buddy who taught me to be clean and righteous is a traitor
Can you only get the mission after you've beaten the game?
Seems like it, never got it before while wandering around that area.
Of course for all I know it might not have been him, I kind of blew up the vehicle with a Thermobaric rocket...

He's the one that gave away the Red Faction base to the EDF. He even drew them a map! He tells you this during your last guerrilla action with him. Only after that, does the courier mission you're talking about show up.
For those that were complaining earlier, 1up's review is up and they gave it a very positive review with an A- score.
It's good to see when the reviewers "get it". I like that he starts out addressing the story and why it's not really an issue when considering how much fun you'll have in the game. When a review needlessly takes off a huge chunk of points for the sake of "covering their bases", I think it does a disservice to the audience. Games, like movies, are all different and appeal to people in different ways. Without a modicum of context, even the best game or movie can lose "points". Is it a "10" game? No, not a chance. But what it does, it does really well (and arguably better than anyone else), and that to me is worth at least an 8, or possibly a 9.
Had I come into Red Faction hoping it was the next GTA4, with an involved, protracted story, I WOULD be disappointed. But that's not what it is, not what the series has been known for, and not how it was advertised. Basically, Red Faction: Guerrilla is the gaming equivalent of a big summer action movie. Except it stars you, and it has enough explosions to make even Michael Bay blush. While a good story certainly wouldn't detract from the experience, I feel in a game like this it's more icing than a foundational layer.
Shakespeare this isn't, but maybe it would have been had Ol' Bill discovered the wonders of the sledgehammer 500 years ago :P
If you pay close attention to the mini-map when you're driving around, you'll notice little green blips off the beaten path. These are radio tags, and give you more background on the story, as well as unlocking the locations of MOABs (which are bombs that you can attach to any vehicle, and cause them to explode like a thermobaric rocket).

I came into this game with a mindset like I had when I went to see Grindhouse, or Shoot 'em Up. My expectations were surpassed.

It's a great review, no doubt, but it needs a better video.
It's all multiplayer, and he never even blows anything up! He only takes out the sledgehammer once, and that's to kill someone. He accidentally hits a wall, but that's hardly enough.
How's the multiplayer shaping up? It may be a bit before I can dig into it, I want to pick up Prototype tomorrow. But if you guys say it's the best thing since sliced bread I may have to reassess.

Thanks for all the tips guys, I'll give it a try next time.
About the maraurders, my impression of the mad-max aesthetic with the headscarves and stuff was that because they live so close to the irradiated zone, and that several parts of the badlands near to that area seem to be particularly affected by weird sandstorms, they would have difficulty suriviving or avoiding radiation poisoning if they spent that much time there without protection. That and the masks are probably meant to be scary.
By the way, you know in that first story mission where you have to pick up the nano forge and you hear voices referencing Parker? My sound was set too low, but were they replaying dialog between Capek and Parker from the original Red Faction, or was it something else?
So the other night, as I was playing a mission, I saw a greenish-blue light in the hills. I couldn't go check it out since I had like 1000 EDF vehicles on my tail. I didn't see a blip on my radar, but I definately saw that light. I even managed to turn a bit and get a second glance at it.
Anyone know what it is?
Aren't the tags like orange or something?

No, the tags are green blips.
The tags are green blips on your radar, but orange swirly fire-like things when you see them.
I do like having the cheats attached to the trophies, as they usually mean nothing to me. And only 4 flyers away from infinite ammo!
I guess I've missed all the details about the cheats, and I don't see anything in the OP. All I've gathered is they open once the single player has been beat. Any one know where I can go to get the info about them (and aparently which cheat is hooked to which acheivment)? Or know what page on this thread it is on?

You can find the listing on Gamefaqs. For the PS3 you can activate them under Options, in the cheats menu. Should be useable as soon as the trophy is completed.
So, multiplayer = incredibly fun. Rhino pack + hammer = hilarious. All you PS3 owners of this game Add me to your friends Bullfrogof7272 is my ID lets cause some mayhem.

Oh, I misread his post, thought he was referring to the radar.
Yeah maybe so. It'd be nice to be able to use those backpacks in singleplayer for sure.
Especially concussion when in a huge-ass firefight with those EDF bastards. Or maybe stealth so you can sneak up to the buildings and then remote-mine them for smithereen-blowing

Depending on what kind of DLC they released for this game, I'd buy it.
This title seems to be picking up steam now that a lot of positive reviews are coming through. I showed it to a friend last night and he was thoroughly impressed. We played a little wrecking crew with thermobaric rockets. Oh man, so satisfying.
The sniper mission in Eos is kicking my ass. I can kill one group of them - it doesn't matter if it's the initial three, or the five in the more secluded area - but I can never stay alive long enough to get to the other group and kill them.
Any ideas?

You know the advertising is good when my father, who hasn't played games in years go 'Damn that looks fun. I must get this.' So, yes I would say this game is picking up speed - 'Tis I good thing IMO from what I've seen of it.

Or chase him with a red faction car.
That's what I always do. Seems to work.
Yet I am thinking very seriously about restarting it immediately because I missed a whole bunch of stuff and missions. The concept enrages me.
Did everyone else skip all the cut scenes?

But does this matter when I can punt a guy with my sledgehammer through a building and blow up a bridge with an entire enemy convoy on it?
The simple answer is it doesn't.
