upbeat music

this is an odd one

I want some feelgood upbeat music that has the effect of picking a person up out of the dumps.

"A mans first duty is to his conscience and honor"- Mark Twain

"Those who are willing to give up essential liberties for a little safety diserve neither liberty nor safety"-Benjamin Franklin

There's a start, I'll be back with more.

    Edit:

Don't Let the Bastards Grind You Down- The Toasters
Come On! Feel the Illinoise!- Sufjan Stevens
[strikethrough]Oregon Girl- Someone Still Loves You, Boris Yeltsin[/strikethrough]
Wraith Pinned to the Mist (and other games)- Of Montreal

I'd suggest some classic songs, too- many people have good memories associated. Stuff like Kodachrome by Simon and Garfunkel

Edit 2: Whoops! Some changes in order.

    No Rain- Blind Melon

More Ska? I don't really know if it fits your tastes, but there's little that's more upbeat in my opinion.

And while Song For the Dumped by Ben Folds Five doesn't exactly fit your criteria, I generally make a point of listening to it after a breakup.

I am really enjoying Slagsmålsklubben at the moment.

The Chemical Brothers (particularly the album "Come with us") always cheer me up.

Much of 65daysofstatic's music makes me happy, you should check out Radio Protector

Asian Dub Foundation's Album "Rafi's Revenge" may or may not be your thing. Check out "Buzzin" (although that's pretty bad quality)

    Daft Punk is always good.

Modest Mouse too, my favourite album is Good News for People who Love Bad News.

The Get Up Kids -> Guilt Show (CD) is a good CD to feel good to. I don't think it has very many "relationship" things in it, regardless... When I'm in your situation, these guys help me out a lot.

Any power metal (dragonforce, rhapsody, and elvenking are a few bands) usually picks me up or keeps me in a good mood when I'm in a good mood. I've found some rap helps me feel better too, like Ghetto Boys (Damn it Feels Good to be a Gangsta) and City I Luv by Jon Young.

What you want is power metal. DragonForce and Rhapsody of Fire are particularly upbeat, and Hammerfall and Gamma Ray aren't bad either. I'd avoid Sonata Arctica, because, although they are a great band, a lot of their songs are about relationships rather than great triumphs over dark lords as some of the aforementioned bands favor.

Man, how about some De La Soul, album Three Feet High and Rising. Specifically the song "Tread Water"

or how about some Pharcyde, album Bizarre Ride II, stay away from the song "Otha Fish"(About relationships but perhaps a song you are looking for?) and focus on Ya Mama.
