Can we ignore Sen. Obama's silence about Muammar Kaddafi?

We know that Louis Farrakhan has said positive things about Barack Obama. And he's not the only one. This is the same Louis Farrakhan who has travelled to Libya to meet with and say positive things about Kaddafi, who has long-standing ties to terrorism. And that's not all. The former pastor at Obama's church, Jeremiah Wright, has not only said positive things about Farrakhan. In the 1980s, he went on trip with Farrakhan to ... you guessed it, Libya, to meet with Kaddafi.

With all of Obama's ties to Kaddafi and all Kaddafi's ties to terrorism, not to mention a lot of Muslims and Arabs and blacks, how much longer can Obama stay silent on his relationship to Kaddafi? Does he support Kaddafi? Has he met with him? Will he denounce Kaddafi, notwithstanding that nuclear deal we have with him now?

These questions won't go away.

PS. Try to keep the image-poasting to a minimum, and all non-primary related items out of this thread.

I know it's in bad taste, but it'd be awfully fun to play "6 degrees of separation from a terrible dictator" with pretty much any noteworthy republican. The current administration has people not even separated by a single degree.

Kind of an interesting little Mark Penn deal, though it honestly sounds like he's already ceding the race and blaming everyone but himself.
    Mark Penn wrote:

God forbid a political candidate should court voters personally.

    What a fucking toad.

Yeah, Obama is the first Democrat in a long time to 'get it'. It's pretty damn neat that he came to Nebraska, considering the last president to come here and spend more time than Bush did was Lincoln's funeral train.

They can't just depend on winning the big cities anymore. It didn't work in 2000 and 2004. It's only a bit of time out of his day to go visit, it isn't that hard, and fires up your supporters because HEY HE ACTUALLY ACKNOWLEDGES US instead of Hillary sending her damn cronies ("Yay... Chelsea?")

To be sure, Obama didn't make the strategy up. If Dean hadn't been sabotaged, I'm sure he would've hit Nebraska, too.

I suppose it worked out for the best. Obama is a slightly better candidate than Dean, and Dean's loss not only got him the DNC chair consolation prize (if I'm remembering right), but also allowed establishment Democrats to be confident that they could always destroy upstarts with relative ease. Dean's John the Baptist-style strategy and martyrdom essentially laid the way for Obama to walk in, completely underestimated, and dominate the field with his message.
Yes, I did just compare Obama to Jesus Christ, but it's for context reasons only. I do not think that Barack Obama is the rebirth of the King of the Jews, nor that he will cast That Old Dragon, Satan, in the pit for 1,000 years.
    ...or do I?

Surprisingly, a candidate who "gets it" is in limited supply these days. At this point, my vote goes to the person who is the least stupid. After these 7 years, my expectations are pretty low.

Indeed, Obama is a type of leader who appears once in a generation. He's not only not-stupid, he's quite smart.

So clearly Obama has to apologize for everything bad or unpopular said by anyone he knows or has met, reject them outright, and give them the silent treatment. Otherwise he's saying he approves of what they're saying.

Obama once sat next to known pedophile Jim Wilson in a public library.

Then, two years later, he passed Jim Wilson on I-67 heading north. Wilson was on the southbound portion of the interstate.

With all these connections between Jim Wilson and Barack Obama, why hasn't Obama come out and renounced pedophiles? Is he courting Jim Wilson's support? How much longer can he stay silent on this potentially explosive issue?

Oh, why do I go to Free Republic, ever? In response to McCain rebuking that radio host who screamed Barack Hussein Obama all day long and went to Hillary because McCain denounced him (italics and bold used to separate responses):
*McCain is a kissy-face wimp. That’s the way the battle is fought, if McCain cannot fight the battle to win, he should step aside and let another take up the shield.

*I have already emailed his website. I told them that I could not reward him with my vote if he refuses to recognize or explore Husseins connections to Islam. We are sunk if he is going to be this weak.

*Nothing new here. McLame sticking up for his liberal Senate buddies.

Just when I think I might vote for this guy, he opens his mouth and reminds me why I shouldn’t.

*McCain didn’t get to be the old, mean dog that he is by lying on the track when something like the Obamarama is rolling down it. He is looking towards a cabinet position in Hussein’s administration. Democrats stick together.

*But one thing is certain, the Obamunists believe their man above reproach. It will be a hard fall for Barry when his shady past is exposed for the masses.

*The more it looks like B. Hussein Obama will be the Dhim nominee I think I need to hold my nose and vote for McCain.

But then he does something like this.

I dont listen to Willie during the day (I tune to Rush on 550 instead) but I have quite often over the past 15 years here in Cincinnati, but he truly is a “Great American”

*This was a HORRIBLE move by McCain.
Just when I have 'thrown in the towel' and decided to support him,,,,,he comes up with something this sickening. Unbelievable.

*Juan McLamebrain is already finished. This senile old Senate Washington beltway dinosaur fart, whom the RNC RINOcrat dopes thought had one more fart left in him, has just confirmed the inescapable fact to anyone who might have doubted it and the few left who were willing to swallow the turd and vote for this phony, that this clueless loser is already a dead man walking and has NO chance of winning the 2008 Presidential election because he reserves his shame, anger, and venom for his own while lavishing his enemies with praise and manners.

Before McAmnesty’s stupid repudiation of Bill Cunningham, Cunningham was advising conservatives to support for McCain, hard as it might be, in the sake of the country and future generations. However, with McCain’s ungrateful, backhanded slap to Cunningham and by extension all conservatives, McCain has demonstrated once again that not only is he opposed to conservatives, but sees them as the enemy deserving of his wrath and condemnation not his “esteemed and beloved liberal Democrat Senate colleagues”.

McCain’s campaign repeatedly insists that it will not engage in adversarial tactics in the 2008 Presidential race against either Obama or Clinton. In other words, McCain has decided not to question, probe, or criticize his opponent’s political records or ideological viewpoints. Since the very process of a national election is to present a political contest of records and a contrast of opposing viewpoints, McCain has already conceded the election to the Democrats by his own incredibly stupid and naive approximation to what extent his “esteemed” colleagues and his bosom buddies in the liberal media, who unanimously suppport his opponents, will treat him in kind.

Considering the extreme weakness of the candidate the RINO infested RNC backed and promoted to the extent of alienating its own voter base, one might ask if they really want to lose, not win. Even if McCain refrained from his familiar habit of spitting on conservatives and backstabbing his own party, the enormous anger, resentment, and ill will already generated by the Republican Party beltway establishment’s repeated failures, lies, and betrayals have already severely weakened the Republican voter base making an electoral victory very difficult. McCain’s moronic and gutless repudiations of cogent, relevant, insightful conservative criticism of his OPPONENT angers conservatives beyond redemption and sinks his already crippled campaign.

For conservatives, the White House in 2008 is already a write-off. Lost before it began. The only hope for conservatives and other liberty and freedom loving Americans is to support conservative House and Senate candidates and on the local level conservative governors, legislators, and state officials. McCain’s hands-off unrealistic and insane approach to free political debate and vigorous political speech is not shared with the lean and hungry liberals and the lapdog willing media starving for Democrat victory at all costs who are going to tear him to pieces.

I want 'Obamunist' on a T-shirt. Right now.

Pictured here articulating his desire to "get high with a little help from his friends", Obama is said to regularly spend the donations of his political supporters on large quantities of cocaine.

I think the pastor thing - Barack still attends the same church, right - has some small degree of merit. Choosing a church, and its pastor along with it, is generally viewed (at least by those who take their religion seriously) as a fairly substantial decision. The assumption is that you find a church that shares your views, and a pastor from whom you can receive guidance.

If Obama's pastor is a fucko, then it forces Obama to either explain why he still attends a church run by a racist asshole, or to admit that his choice of church was largely politically driven. I have no problem with the latter being the case, which is my assumption - I think Obama is truthfully a Christian, but he's clearly not a fundie and is probably not hugely committed to organized religion. But coming out and copping to that would be politically inconvenient. Obama's going to have to walk a fine line if this issue comes to a head so as not to piss off committed Christians while still sufficiently disavowing the opinions of his pastor.

Ann Richards was pretty awesome. "George Bush was born with a silver foot in his mouth." Classic.
Anyway the daughter should be ashamed of herself if she didn't clear that shit with the rest of her family first. Richards was somewhat of an iconoclast... you'd have to be to be a Democrat governing Texas.
They asked me if I would sue the campaign, and I said no, I wasn't in the business of suing the campaign, but I didn't think they should do it. To try to present who she would endorse a year and a half after she died is offensive to me.

The campaign should be ashamed that the two sons denied their request, and they aired it anyways after asking if they'd sue.

    What the hell.

Is there a full video of Obama responding to McCain's shot at him yet?

Man, he's sounding exhausted. He's almost stumbling over himself at the beginning, missing a good deal of his normal charisma and oratory skills. Granted, he picks up the ball and gets moving again, but I'm thinking he needs a day off.

Obama breathes Air from the earth's atmosphere.

Forty years ago, Hitler breathed this same air.

Obama is a male of the species Homo Sapiens.

Hitler was also a male of the species Homo Sapiens.

With all these connections between Obama and Hitler, can we really trust him? Why hasn't he both renounced and rejected Hitler. Is he counting on the neo-nazi vote?

Interestingly enough, Jonah Goldberg makes the same connections in Liberal Facism and actually believes it.
Why did you have to remind of that idiot's existence?

    Why? :|

Nader doesn't think he can actually win, does he? This is one of those things where you run to get your issues in the spotlight of the race, right?

No, he said this on Meet the Press:
If Democrats can't landslide the Republicans this year, they ought to just wrap up, close down, emerge in a different form.

In other words, "If the Democrats can't win the presidency despite me trying to steal as many votes as possible, the country deserves four to eight years of McCain raping it in the ass without lube."

    Real helpful, Ralph.

That's the thing though, I don't get the impression at all that the pastor is a "racist asshole", not at all actually. I feel like the implication here is that anyone with anything positive to say about Farrakhan gets labeled an anti-semite. Hell, I can't honestly say Farrakhan's done all bad, and there's nothing wrong with acknowledging or giving him some credit for doing good things. That doesn't mean I hate Jews, it just means that I'm recognizing that Jew-hatred isn't all that he is.

But anyway, Barack's going to have to labor under this double standard for the duration. God help McCain if he has to issue apologies for knowing douchebags.
