The unlockminesofmoria website was supposed to be... unlocked today, but looks like they couldn't handle the load. I demand more information on wardens and rune-keeper!
I am still wating on that Trollinator title, I guess I'll have to settle for Troll-Hewer for now. How the hell did you end up with that skull like that??
Richmond, my raven, somehow bugged and I was able to summon him twice. Nevermind that the first one acted like it did'nt exist, cloning is not perfect in this age.

It's for one of the earth-kin quests east of Esteldin. Looks so ridiculous to carry...
I don't play this game, and I don't mean to drag this thread off course, but I had to poke my head in without reading anything else in it because I am a genuine Barrovian.
I come from a small town in England called Barrow, the inhabitants of which are "Barrovians".
Mental note: stay the fuck out of dol dinen with all future characters.
Yeah, you guys seemed like you were having a hell of a time last night.
I still enjoyed the bitching afterwards.

So, I had an experience in LOTRO last night that is a perfect example of the main reason I much prefer it to any other MMO I've played.
I was doing some quests in the Hobbit area of southern Evendim, specifically the one to kill the nasty lvl 31 wolf guy. I was clearing the other wolves from around the rock where you summon him, and in the process I ended up around a corner out of sight of the rock. Jezabelle of the Barrovian Society came by while I was out of sight and, not seeing anyone else there of course, proceeded to summon the wolf and kill him.
Instead of leaving me to clear the adds again (which by now were respawning), Jezabelle asked if I was on the same quest, apologized for not seeing me, and helped me clear the adds and kill the nasty wolf guy. Every similar situation i've encountered in WoW has ended with the other person running off - if I was lucky I would get a "srry", more often I'd just get laughed at. The community in LOTRO is much more friendly, and are by and large not jerks.
Yeah I had something similar. I was wandering around the barrow downs and picked up a fairly ordinary looking quest. Turns out I was going to have to fight through about 10 groups of 3 level 16 wights and then a 16 elite (I was level 14). A level 21 guardian just happened to be passing and without a word just stayed with me for the 12 minutes it took to finish the quest.
I always got a thrill out of appearing from nowhere on my rogue and helping someone when they were going down, it's nice to see a game where it seems most other people feel the same.

Me and my step-son were starting two new characters to level together. I made a Captian and he made a Guardian. Anyway, we were finishing off the opening Archet quests and went to kill the named spider that spawn in that abandoned house inside the caves.
Anyway, we were up there and a group of two guys rushes past us while we are dealing with some adds. They take the kill and leave.
The whole time there is this Burglar standing back watching. The Burglar asks to be added to our group and we invite him and he helps us clear out the area and get the boss.
After we thank him he tells us that he had dropped from their fellowship and joined ours because he didn't think what they did was cool.
That blew my mind.

Haha, oh wow, that was you? Small world! Anyways yea, I find the community in the game really helpful and nice. Definitely makes playing a lot more pleasant and stress-free. I've never played WoW, but my one friend who does equates the community to the level of Youtube comments. That's not good!
So we got creamed in Dol Dinen last night. Poor Cara. I still want to go back to kill the Siege-troll Master guy.
I'm leveling pretty slowly due to the fact I am trait farming. Is it worth it to keep trait farming or should I just get on with it and come back for the traits later?
I think I'd personally rather trait farm just to be a fully equipped minstrel. However everyone's speeding by me so damn fast I feel like I'll still be in the lone lands while you are all off exploring the expansion.

Yeah. In LOTRO, the nice person to idiot ratio in my experience has been about 10:1 in favor of nice people. In WoW, it's about 10:1 in favor of the idiots. So it's a nice change.
@Entaru - for trait/deed farming, I usually just kill all the deed mobs I see while I'm questing. It gets you farther along than you might think. Sometimes when I want a break from quests I'll mindlessly slaughter trait mobs and it makes for a nice change of pace. I've really only had to seriously grind 2 traits so far.

Just remember that trait farming will go by 5x faster when you're 10 levels higher than the mobs. You'll never get attacked by more than you hit and you do way more damage to em. However, seeing those traits in areas I'm in always makes me want to complete them right away...

Does it still trigger on greys?
For some reason I was under the impression that I lost it when the mobs went grey. Maybe I misread something somewhere or someone just spouted off the wrong info on some random forum I was looking at.

Traits for killing specific mobs (i.e., goblins) will still trigger on greys.
Traits for doing things in combat (i.e. hitting enemies with a specific attack skill) will not trigger on greys.

Mystery Solved. Now I no longer feel like I HAVE to kill 120 Orcs as soon as I log in before I do anything else, lest I out level them.
I can progress. Thanks.

I'm typically Deed farming as well, when I come across a Deed I need/want and am questing in that area. Then again, if the kill mob is scarce I leave it for later, or come back at another time when it's less busy.
As for leveling slow, you could be like me, levelling my Main(Dwidus-21 Burg) and my Alts(Edvard-14 Min, Jaldreth-16 Hunt) or playing my other Alts(Roingrim-8 Guard, Ksomething 6'sh LM).. it's kept me from progressing, but I'm also not feeling burned out at all, except maybe getting tired of Bree area quests. Seems The Shire sends you to Bree, the elven area sends you to Bree, and of course Combe sends you to Bree!
So anywho, if you ever need Fellowship Fodder gimmie a Hollar
So my buddy on the EU server doesn't really have much time to play right now, so I'm considering nagging for a founder trial and playing on the US servers where all the cool hobbits hang out.
I've played a dwarf guardian, but I dunno if I can be arsed doing it all over again right now. Are there any othe classes that are especially needed? Wouldn't mind trying a minstrel.

So we got creamed in Dol Dinen last night. Poor Cara. I still want to go back to kill the Siege-troll Master guy.
I kind of figured you would. We had all the minstrels and stuff in our fellowship. I still had to leave though after we wiped on him, cause I actually work during the day now, so I'll be up for it as long as it's a decent hour.
Doing those quests in there last night was pretty awful. There were just so many mobs spawning everywhere and we had to kill them, one by one, to try and move forward. That along with not knowing where we were going and where the quest mobs were made it really bad. I want to finish the quest, but I hate that stupid place.
That story up above also reminds me that if you're from PA on Landroval and you need people to group with, hop in the PA channel (/join pennyarcade wang) and ask for an invite. We're always looking for new people and it sounds like there are some out there soloing it. Even if you don't want us to walk through quests with you cause a lot of us are 30+ it's still a good place to hang out and ask for advice. That being said, our active hours do tend to skew later (10:00 PM+ EDT) so it might not be very chatty for any of you Euroguys. I tend to get on in the afternoon my time, though. Even though I can't invite I can still talk in the PA channel and keep an eye out. And even if you're in a guild already, jump in the PA channel for more people to talk to.
By the way, we should do Tinnudir sometime. Lots of quests in Evendim.
edit: Echo, we have like five minstrels. We don't have many captains, champions, or loremasters. There's like two hunters and two guardians as well.
As far as I've gotten in the game (30 on the Brandywine server, been through all of Ered Luin, Shire, Breelands, Lone Lands) if you just kill any deed mob you happen accross while doing quests that will get you all but 1-2 deeds in an area. Usually there is 1 slayer deed in each area that does not mesh well with any of the quests (Hendroval in Ered Luin, Flies in Breeland etc...) but all the others are easy to pick up in the course of doing other shit.
I've also got a bit of alt-itis for a couple of reasons: Trying to keep my "main" at the same level as my buddy so we can play together - and also want to try out all of the classes.
Started a hunter on the EU server just to try one out. And I found it very much to my liking. Fun to kill most stuff before it reaches me. Of course, more than one = humped. Especially if both get into melee range and pretty much prevent me from firing due to skill knockback.
Also, realised I'm still stuck in the WoW mindset of having one main and many alts. Why settle for one class when I can just hop back and forth between a few? I'll be rolling a captain and a hunter when I get on the US server.
US client all patched up and ready to go. Anyone got a founder's trial to send my way?
I signed up form a Founder's invite - does that mean my invites count as Founders too? If so, send me a PM with your email - or contact one of my chars in game (see post above)
Echo, let me know how playing with the Americans from Europe turns out, lag wise and time-wise.
I play from England with average 110ms ping. It's more than good enough considering I play TF2 with an average ping of 130ms. Always seems to be a decent amount of players on as well.

Heh, I recognized every skill icon on that screen... as skills I've used personally.
I'd be curious as to how well the fire-based LM stuff worked on him, though. :P
Did you manage to kill him?

Wordin - 9 Dwarf Minstrel - kinned
Scillara - 4 Elf Lore-Master
